A PICTURESQUE town in Devon is home to one of the UK's most beautiful beaches - complete without arcades and rides.
The Victorian town of Sidmouth in east Devon has a 200million-year-old coastline, being the gateway to the Jurassic Coast.

What's more is that the town is also loved by celebs including Jeremy Vine and Stephen Fry.
Fry stayed nearby the town when starring in the TV adaptation of Jeeves and Wooster.
As for Jeremy Vine, the radio presenter got married nearby and spends summers returning to the town.
In fact, when he set his first whodunnit novel called Murder on Line, in the town, he included a scene where a wave sweeps a radio station manager and her just-sacked DJ into the water together.
Vine noted in The Guardian: "What I love most about Sidmouth is that it feels like a town going places.
"It's chintzy in places, drab in others, but it feels real.
"And real by the sea is a different kind of beauty."
But celebrity visitors also extended to literary legends and royalty.
Jane Austen - famous for her novels Pride and Prejudice and Northanger Abbey - spent the summer of 1801 in Sidmouth.
The town had become a popular spot among high society due to its spa waters, mild climate and calming atmosphere.

During the summer Austen was in Sidmouth, she had a fling with a young man - however, it had a tragic end.
Her suitor caught typhus and died, ending the fleeting relationship.
Austen isn't the only writer to have spent some time in the town - JRR Tolkien, the creator of Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit also holidayed at the seaside resort.
Tolkien used to stay at Kennaway House, which is rumoured to be the location where he wrote the first parts of Lord of the Rings.
And in the town itself, one of the pubs is believed to have inspired Aragon's introduction.
Later, in April 1908, Beatrix Potter was also in Sidmouth.
On family holidays, the popular children's writer would stay at the Hylton - where there is now even a plaque commemorating her stays.
Potter used to talk of the views, her local walks in the area and also the atmosphere - which helped her to complete the Tale of Little Pig Robinson.

As for royalty, Queen Victoria (who at the time of visiting was Princess Alexandrina) also frequented the town.
In 1819, she stayed at Woolbrook Cottage - now known as the Royal Glen Hotel.
However, the holiday was not particularly happy as her father became ill and died.
For things to do in Sidmouth, there is plenty of choice, with the beach undoubtedly being the main attraction.
This year Sidmouth Town Beach was awarded a Blue Flag for the sixth year in a row - recognising the pebble beach as being under excellent management including beach safety and water quality.
Being amongst the cleanest beaches in the UK, it is a great spot to go for a dip when the sun is shining before heading into the town and grabbing an ice cream.
My own experience of Sidmouth
GROWING up, I always associated Sidmouth with 'that place that had donkeys'.
This is due to Sidmouth being home to the free-to-visit Donkey Sanctuary that has over 100 donkeys that they have improved the lives of.
It's a great spot for children and learning about animal welfare.
Away from the sanctuary, I also visited the beach on occasions growing up.
Sidmouth is pretty, but I often think people also forget how impressive it is with the dramatic cliffs dating back 200million years.
They are part of the Jurassic Coast - which is made of vibrant reed sandstone cliffs from the Triassic period.
They are a wonder to see and within the area, there are many places to go and things to do where families can learn more about the Jurassic Coast.
But if you aren't done with exploring, you could always head over to Hill View along the coastal walk, which boast amazing views across the sea.
One particularly special thing about Sidmouth though, is that it doesn't have any amusement arcades, loud sports bars or dodgy street food vendors.
Instead, the places that these would usually be have been filled with galleries and antiques shops, independent retailers and tearooms.
To get to the quaint town, from London it takes around four hours to drive.
Alternatively, also from London, you could hop on a train to Honiton, taking around two-and-a-half hours before catching a bus from Honiton to Sidmouth.
Britain's 'trendiest' beach town is also set for biggest transformation in a decade as fresh plans unveiled.

Fuming Paddy McGuinness blasts ‘cowboy' builders over ‘job gone wrong' with his new artificial garden

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PADDY McGuinness has slammed a group of "cowboy" builders, calling their work on his artificial garden a "job gone wrong". The TV star has called out the company who fitted the lawn after it slowly became overgrown with weeds. Filming his own furious rant, Paddy showcased the extent of the weed growth, with more than 20 separate weeds visible in the clip. He said the weeds had begun to creep through around five months ago but had spread to almost all stretches of the artificial garden. A large number of the weeds shown in the clip appear to have grown in the space at the edge of the artificial turf and the tiling slabs that surround it. The star also slammed various discoloured patches and hollow bits around the edge, saying: 'Job's gone wrong.' Paddy said he attempted to get back in touch with the company but claimed they did not respond to phone calls or emails he sent. The infuriated TV star even labelled the workers as 'f***ing cowboys' in the clip from yesterday. A frustrated Paddy said in the video: "Why's everyone out to shaft you. "Can no one just offer a service and it be right? "Listen, if you've used a company who lay these kind of lawns and you're happy with it, let me know. 'It drives me wild, you just can't get rid of it' pro gardener reveals the nightmare weed every UK home is at risk of "I don't want to put it down again if it's going to be screwed in another year or two and changing colour and weeds everywhere and dips in it and all that pony." He added: "Please someone, I don't want it for nothing, do not want it for nothing, no tagging in, get in touch. "I'll pay you, do a fantastic job and be gone and let me know how to do the upkeep." This comes after the show Paddy and Chris: Road Trippin' - starring the TV icon and his former Top Gear co-host Chris Harris - was confirmed to be axed. The series has been cut after just one season, despite enjoying decent viewing figures when it aired on Sunday nights on BBC One last year. Despite attracting a reasonable 3.2 million viewers for its opener, the show will not be renewed for any more episodes. A TV insider said: "It certainly wouldn't have helped that just a few weeks before the show began on the Beeb, host Chris was slating the corporation following Freddie Flintoff's horror crash while they were filming Top Gear. "He said that he'd warned show bosses that someone could be killed or seriously injured on the show claiming producers were devising increasingly 'stupid and dangerous' stunts. "The timing was not great, but by that stage Road Trippin', which saw Chris reunited with Paddy without Freddie, had already been made and was ready to go out on air."

Eight new Pringles flavours hit shop shelves including iconic US one that everyone wants to try

Pringles also have a range of tastes inspired by various global destinations trolley dash Eight new Pringles flavours hit shop shelves including iconic US one that everyone wants to try Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PRINGLE fans rejoice as brand new flavours of the legendary tubed crisps are hitting shelves. Heading up the eight new editions is an American favourite and a 2025 taste trend. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 The range of exciting flavours is tricky to come by Credit: Food Finds UK A savvy shopper shared the discovery on Food Finds UK Official Facebook page. They revealed the exciting flavours were spotted in a Londis store in Stoke-on-Trent. The comment section quickly filled with people wanting to know exactly which store was stocking the delicious selection. Philly Cheesesteak, Everything Bagel, Loaded Potato Skins, Hot Honey, Dill Pickle, All Dressed, 7-layer Dip and Hot Ones are all up for grabs at the Oakhill store. We've done a search, and it appears the flavours are fresh from the US and can only be found in specialist online American snack stores like Candymail UK. The price of the unusual flavours aren't clear, but Pringles typically range from £1 to £1.80 in major UK supermarkets. Flavour change-up Last month two takeaway-inspired Pringles flavours joined Asda's shelves for £1.86 a tube. The new flavours are Japanese Style Stir Fry and Turkish Style Kebab. They're part of the crisp brand's limited-edition Passport range, which is inspired by flavours from around the world. Popular Instagram account John's Snack Reviews said the stir fry-inspired crisps tasted like "hot n spicy combined with spicy tomato but mild". On the Turkish Style Kebab crisps, he said: "Think doner kebab, tomato n curry spices." One commenter added: "I got the kebab ones today. I really like them. "Defo more kebab smell than taste. Taste to be is a generic meat taste but I would buy them again." More of the Pringles Passport range can be found in Iceland for £1. The other flavours include Chinese Style Sweet & Sticky Wings, French Style Steak Frites and Thai Style Green Curry. At the start of the year, Pringles brought out a new flavour inspired by the US. The Blazin' Fried Chicken Pringles hit shelves in January. They're inspired by Nashville hot chicken, which is marinated in spices, deep fried, and then coated in cayenne sauce or just cayenne spice. In June, the crisp brand brought out the Flame Grilled Steak flavour. It was previously a convenience store exclusive but has now become more widely available. Rival brand, Walkers, has also launched two new permanent crisp flavours for the first time in decades. The iconic brand rolled out new Sticky Teriyaki and Masala Chicken flavours. The new savoury delights landed in stores on August 11, according to the Metro. Some eagle-eyed shoppers have already spotted the flavours on supermarket shelves. The new Sticky Teriyaki flavour was found in the aisle of Tesco over the weekend. The find sparked excitement amongst fans who said they "had to try them". A six-pack of both the Masala and Teriyaki flavours costs £2.15 if you shop at Tesco. The Sun has contacted Walkers for comment. It has been decades since Walkers launched new flavours to join its core range. Classic packets such as Salt and Vinegar and Cheese and Onion were launched back in the 1950s and 60s. Over the years, the beloved brand has rolled out limited edition flavours such as Worcestershire sauce. The sauce inspired crisps were brought back this March after a near two year hiatus.
