Former MLB star Jimmy Rollins wins $325,000 boat with hole-in-one

New York Post13-07-2025
Jimmy Rollins left his American Century Championship round Saturday with a boat after his first-ever hole-in-one.
Rollins, the former longtime Phillies shortstop, sank a shot on the 12th hole Saturday at Edgewood Tahoe Resort, and he celebrated by jumping into NFL wide receiver Davante Adams' arms with a Mastercraft boat — Rollins' was valued at approximately $325,000, according to the Daily Mail — on display in the background.
'It's funny because last night I prayed for a hole-in-one,' Rollins said, according to the Daily Mail. 'And it happened to come true. Prayers were answered today.'

Rollins' shot on the 139-yard hole landed behind the hole, spun back toward it and then rolled into the cup, and after realizing that it turned into a hole-in-one, Rollins put an arm in the arm, dropped his club and jumped into Adams' arms.
Rollins was still shocked when this one finally went in, according to the Daily Mail, and it marked the third consecutive year with a hole-in-one at the event, the broadcast reported.
He proceeded to stand on the boat with his arms stretched wide, while also posing for pictures in the water, too.

'After yesterday's round, it was, like: 'I just want to go out there and not embarrass myself, to be honest,'' Rollins said, according to the Daily Mail. '… But as we pulled up to the hole, the volunteer there said: 'They got this right up there for you guys. They really want to give away this boat.' I was like, 'Oh, they do?' She was like, 'Yeah. It's right up front. All you have to do is land it to the right and let it feed to the left.''

Despite the hole-in-one, Rollins entered the final round Sunday tied for 45th and well behind co-leaders Joe Pavelski and Taylor Twellman — former hockey and soccer players, respectively.

Rollins spent the first 15 years of his MLB career with the Phillies, making three All-Star Games and helping them win the 2008 World Series before advancing back to that stage the following year.
He spent one season with the Dodgers in 2015 and another with the White Sox in 2016 before retiring.

Florida's long snapper Rocco Underwood named to 2025 Patrick Mannelly Award watch list

The 2025 Patrick Mannelly Award watch list was recently released and included Florida football longsnapper Rocco Underwood, who earned the honor last season after a superb campaign. The rising redshirt senior originally from Lake Mary, Florida, will have the opportunity to repeat the honor in 2025 following an effort that also resulted in All-SEC recognition, as well as being named a Phil Steele First-Team All-American and AFCA Second-Team All-American. He has also made the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll thrice in his career, along with a SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll mention. Underwood has tallied a total of 314 special teams snaps over his four-season career in Gainesville, during which he made seven total tackles on special teams. Of those snaps, 103 of them came last fall when the special-teamer made significant improvements in his game across the board, amassing 56 successful punt coverages as well as 57 successful field goal and extra point attempts during that campaign. He notched his single-season career-high of three tackles in 2024, also notching his lone credited fumble recovery against the Florida State Seminoles. About the Patrick Mannelly Award The Patrick Mannelly Award was first issued in 2019 and is given to the best long snapper in college football. Named after Patrick Mannelly, who played as the long snapper for Duke University from 1993 to 1997 and was the long snapper for the Chicago Bears from 1998 to 2013. During his time in the NFL, Mannelly never recorded a bad snap and was credited with playing a pivotal role in the success of the kickers he played with. The award benefits Bernie's Book Bank, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding ways to help children develop their reading skills by providing free books to help build their home libraries in the local Lake Buff, Illinois, area. The 30-man watch list will be narrowed down to ten semifinalists on Nov. 17, with the three finalists being announced on Dec. 1 and the winner being selected on Dec. 13. UK Royal Ballet and Opera cancels Tel Aviv ‘Tosca' after protest

The United Kingdom's Royal Ballet and Opera has cancelled its planned 2026 production of 'Tosca' at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, following internal protest over the organization's stance on Gaza, The Guardian reported on Monday. The decision follows an open letter signed by 182 staff members, including dancers and musicians, criticizing the company's ties to Israel amid the ongoing conflict. The staff demanded that the organization refrain from supporting institutions that legitimize a state engaged in 'crimes against humanity.' The letter does not mention the mass atrocities committed by Hamas against civilians in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, including the murder of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 251 others. Nor does it reference the hostages still being held in dire conditions by terrorists in the Strip. Chief Executive Alex Beard confirmed the decision in an internal message acknowledging staff concerns, stating, 'We have made the decision that our new production of Tosca will not be going to Israel.' The Israeli Opera's website no longer mentions the Royal Opera House, which is the main theatrical home of the Royal Ballet and Opera, located in the Covent Garden district of central London. The signatories accused the Jewish state of committing an ongoing genocide in Gaza—a charge that Jerusalem vehemently denies. The letter also cites that the Tel Aviv venue publicly offers free tickets to Israeli Defense Forces soldiers. 6 The letter does not mention the mass atrocities committed by Hamas against civilians in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Advertisement Israel mandates military service in the IDF for all citizens over 18 who are Jewish, Druze or Circassian, with some significant exceptions. The letter also expresses solidarity with a cast member at London's Royal Opera House who unfurled a PLO flag during the final curtain call of Giuseppe Verdi's 'Il trovatore' on July 19.
