Visakhapatnam: District collector MN Harendhira Prasad exhorted people to consider serving the society as part of serving the nation. Flagging off a bike rally as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga programme held on Tuesday at Beach Road in Visakhapatnam, the Collector mentioned that the bike rally was organised to inculcate patriotism among the youth. 'The onus of contributing to the motherland lies on each individual,' he stressed.
The collector stated that by keeping the city clean, paying taxes and respecting fellow citizens are some of the qualities of a good citizen. 'The country's symbols should be respected. It is truly a matter of pride that a Telugu freedom fighter designed the national flag. People should draw inspiration from freedom fighters like Pingali Venkayya. Every citizen should work towards national integrity and programmes like Har Ghar Tiranga bring people together on a platform to strengthen patriotism,' the Collector mentioned.
The bike rally was organised from Kali Mata temple to YMCA. Raising slogans such as ' Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and holding national flags, officials from various departments of the district administration, representatives of NGOs, social workers, sportsmen and students participated in the rally with enthusiasm.
As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga yatra, students performed cultural programmes, while the students of tribal welfare homes performed Dhimsa dance, students from Gajuwaka presented Bharatanatyam.
During the programme, the collector visited the Har Ghar Vastru Pradhar Mela organised under the auspices of UCD, ICDS and self-help groups. District tourism officer J Madhavi, social welfare DD K Rama Rao, Battalion Commandant Bhagat Singh, other officers and staff of 198 and 234 battalions, members of the tourism association participated in the rally. Meanwhile, an anti-ragging rally was flagged off by City Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi. Organised with the support of 500 NCC cadets, the programme aimed at conveying a strong message to students to keep the campuses ragging-free. The rally commenced from AVN College to collector office, AVN College Principal Simhadri Naidu, Deputy Commissioner of Police zone-II Mary Prasanthi, ACP Harbour Kalidas and Inspector GD Babu were present.

Carrying the Indian national flag (Tiranga) with utmost reverence, they embarked on a spirited rally through the streets of the neighbouring villages of Kumaram and Korukonda. The air resonated with the cadets' enthusiastic patriotic slogans, designed to awaken awareness and reverence for the national emblem. Moving beyond mere procession, the cadets actively engaged with villagers, fostering a direct connection between the symbol of the nation and its people. They eloquently explained the profound symbolism imbued within the Tiranga – the courage and sacrifice represented by saffron, the peace and truth embodied by white, and the fertility, growth, and auspiciousness signified by green. The significance of the Ashoka Chakra as a representation of righteousness, progress, and perpetual motion was also shared. "This outreach was truly heartwarming, witnessing the genuine connection forged between our cadets, the Tiranga, and the villagers was inspiring." stated Group Captain SS Shastri, schools' principal. "The cadets effectively translated the spirit of Har Ghar Tiranga into meaningful dialogue and shared fervour." The cadets explained, actively inspiring every household they met to participate in the national movement by hoisting the Indian Flag at their homes on Independence Day. They emphasized the importance of displaying the flag with the utmost respect and reverence, instilling a sense of collective responsibility towards this national duty. The Sainik School Korukonda NCC's initiative successfully fostered palpable pride and unity within the visited communities. It served as a powerful reminder of the Tiranga's unifying power and successfully amplified the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign's core message at the grassroots level, setting a resonant tone for the Independence Day celebrations ahead. Lucknow: Lucknow Municipal Corporation is conducting a special cleanliness and decoration drive across all 110 wards and eight zones ahead of Independence Day and Janmashtami festival. Zonal officers, sanitary staff and supervisors have been assigned ward-specific duties, focusing on road and market cleaning, drain maintenance, garbage collection and waste disposal. LMC teams will visit homes to promote cleanliness and encourage residents to hoist national flag as part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. So far, LMC has distributed over 3 lakh tricolours and several Tiranga Yatras with school children are being organised, combining patriotic songs and slogans with messages on hygiene and civic responsibility. 1 2 Varanasi: As the nation gears up to celebrate Independence Day on Aug 15, Kashi, known for its spiritual heritage, has intensified preparations for celebration of the day on a grand scale. In a significant drive under the Uttar Pradesh govt's Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, more than 2,600 women from self-help groups (SHGs) are making over 4.76 lakh national flags to be delivered to houses ahead of Aug 15. The initiative, blending national service with women's empowerment, has engaged women from both rural and urban areas. Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal said that around 2,000 women from over 400 SHGs associated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) are making 2.25 lakh flags, earning an average of Rs 3,000-Rs4,000. In addition, 680 women from 68 SHGs linked to the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) are producing 2,51,500 flags. Radha of Ramdih village in Sevapuri block expressed pride in her contribution, saying, "When the tricolour waves on every house on Aug 15, it will carry the essence of our hard work and patriotism."
