Pixxel, a Bengaluru-based space technology company building the world's highest-resolution hyperspectral satellite constellation, has signed a second agreement with the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), Ministry of Defence, Government of India. This new SPARK (Support for Prototype and Research Kickstart) grant, awarded to SpacePixxel Pvt Ltd under IDEX DISC 8 Challenge 6.2, supports the development of advanced Hyperspectral and MWIR (Mid-Wave Infrared) payloads, tailored for the Indian Air Force.advertisementThe grant further strengthens Pixxel's collaboration with the Indian ecosystem, following its selection under the Mission DefSpace Challenge of IDEX Prime (Space) in 2023 to manufacture miniaturised multi-payload satellites.
With this new milestone, Pixxel will leverage its cutting-edge optical engineering and in-house satellite manufacturing capabilities to design and build next-generation Earth observation payloads with security-grade performance. The high-resolution Hyperspectral and MWIR payloads will enhance India's airborne and space-based imaging capabilities across various operational and strategic applications.Speaking on the occasion, Awais Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Pixxel, said: "We're honoured to deepen our partnership with the Government of India and advance our mission of building cutting-edge space infrastructure right here at home. This is further enabled by Pixxel Aurora, the company's Earth Observation Studio, which makes hyperspectral imagery accessible and usable through intuitive visualisation, analysis, and insight generation tools. As the company expands its capabilities, it remains focused on building a real-time, high-fidelity health monitor for the planet.

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has, in the recent months, been reaching out to innovators of unique products through its Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology (COXBIT) for optimising utility of research and product development through public-private partnership mode. The 1.06 facility encompasses knowledge and cabin space which can be occupied by start-ups, student entrepreneurs and established companies for research and development activities. The Centre featuring high-end infrastructure envisages development of super active enzymes / biomolecules, biobased products, hormones for fruit ripening, plant growth stimulants and similar bio-inputs for the commercial benefit of farmers. The common facilities also encompass a conference hall, cafeteria, internet, wi-fi, and instrumentation facilities, said N. Senthil, Director, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology that runs the facility. On Wednesday, the COXBIT entered into a pact with a Coimbatore-based innovator Nivedita Arjunan, to facilitate research and development of natural ingredient-based perfumes to develop eco-friendly fragrances using botanicals, promoting innovation and value addition in the fragrance sector. Earlier this month, the COXBIT tied up with Sherpa Biotech, a leader in imported button mushroom spawn and modern cultivation, to expand its research by focusing on IoT-based monitoring, stimulants, and smart watering technologies. This new initiative, according to Vendan, Registrar and acting Vice-Chancellor, is expected to increase mushroom production and shelf life, while also promoting agricultural development through the application of modern biotechnologies. Late last month, the COXBIT inked an agreement with Adamsindia AI Company, a leading company in agricultural technology development, for nurturing agricultural sector based on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology. Earlier during July, an MoU was signed with M/s. Yaazh Xenomics, Coimbatore, specialising in genomic research and DNA sequencing using Illumina, Nanopore, and Ion Torrent platforms. With over 100 research publications, the company also manufactures RT-PCR and biotech kits, supporting researchers, clinicians and students. Tamil Nadu Legislative Estimate Committee under the chairmanship of S. Gandhirajan, MLA, while on a visit to TNAU last month, appreciated activities undertaken by the Centre such as digitization of insects, DNA barcoding, and guided audio tour. The insect museum with more than 50,000 preserved insects on various groups is visited with interest by school / college students and farming community. The Assembly team witnessed demonstrations on low cost coconut dehusking machine, drone spraying of nutrients and pesticides, telescopic coconut harvesting machine, and plantrox app for pest and disease diagnosis.

KPMG India on Thursday, 7 July 2025, announced the re-appointment of Yezdi Nagporewalla as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the consultancy firm for the three years beginning February 2027, according to the official announcement. The company also said that the second CEO's term will begin immediately after the expiry of the current executive's term. 'KPMG in India today announced the re-appointment of Yezdi Nagporewalla as Chief Executive Officer for a second term, which will span three-years, beginning February 2027. The extension will take effect immediately after the expiry of his current term,' the company said in an official filing. The company also said that the decision to re-appoint Yezdi Nagporewalla comes as the board of directors and partners of the Indian-arm are focused on the market as the firm continues its growth journey. 'My focus will be to continue sharpening the firm's client focus, integrating innovative approaches, deepening expertise and enhancing our culture to unlock value for our clients. Over the past years, we have built trust among our stakeholders with a clear emphasis on ethics and quality, which will remain our core,' said Yezdi Nagporewalla in the official statement. Ajay Mehra, the Non-Executive Chairman at KPMG India, said that Yezdi Nagporewalla has been leading the Indian company over the last three years, and his strength lies in maintaining and strengthening relationships with the clients and people. 'It has been our privilege to have Yezdi lead the India firm over the last three years. His strength lies in maintaining and strengthening relationships with our clients and people. His insights and experience will help scale the firm to a better and brighter future,' he said in the filing. Yezdi Nagporewalla has a career of close to three and a half decades, during which time he has dedicated two and a half decades to KPMG India. Yezdi has garnered expertise in diverse areas, including client relations, market expansion, strategy, business improvement, transformation, and governance and regulatory matters, according to the company data.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Thursday, the Kremlin press service confirmed. A video released showed Doval shaking hands with Putin before their discussions. Earlier, Doval had held talks with Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council. Doval arrived in Moscow on Wednesday to engage in crucial discussions on bilateral energy and defence cooperation, as well as to lay the groundwork for President Putin's visit to India later this year. His arrival coincided with US President Donald Trump issuing an executive order imposing an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods as a penalty for purchasing Russian oil, effectively doubling the tariff to 50 per cent.
