The Handmaid's Tale
Episode 10 of The Handmaid's Tale season 6 begins with Boston free from Gilead occupation. By the time the Marines land in Southie, the fighting is actually nearly over. Gilead has pulled out of the city after 19 days of fighting, but the rest of America is still caught in the tyrannical grip of Gilead.
What's the plan to overthrow Gilead?
Each State is going to follow a similar trajectory, with Mayday intending to take each by force, ever-growing in numbers as more States fall, eventually overthrowing the oppressive regime of Gilead once and for all. Eventually they'll make it to Colorado, where June hopes to be reunited with Hannah. But we're a long way off from that just yet.
Gilead are without leaders, given all the High Commanders have been killed, but the rebels certainly have plenty they can lean on. One in particular who's really coming into his own is Luke. He's stepped up as a leader but he's also not sleeping. He has a crazed look in his eye but also one of determination and purpose. He's juiced, working with the Boston engineers to turn the power back on, envisioning Holly and Nichole flying back over, then they'll be hitting New York next.
Mark speaks to June afterwards and reveals that most of the Western District Commanders have been promoted, including Mackenzie. What this means is that Hannah is actually moving closer to where they are, which could given them a lot of hope to get her back home quicker.
What happens to Serena?
Serena is also here too and June thanks her for her part to play in the intel regarding the plane. She does stir the pot a bit when the conversation turns to Nick, bringing up that despite his dishonest life, if Nick really had a choice he would choose to be with June. Serena doesn't really have anywhere to go here, given she's been denied a passport to the EU and the US, so Mark ships her off to a UN refugee camp for the time being. He does promise to find her but the last we see of Serena, she's alone with only Noah for company.
Is Janine returned?
While in Boston, June finds Emily again and the pair are reunited. She was in Bridgeport this whole time, which happens to have been a hotspot of rebellion for a while. She's been fighting back this whole time, just like June has been, but the latter is starting to lose hope that she'll ever get Hannah back.
Emily helps to changer her opinion on matters, as they walk down by the side of the river together. The Guardians have been hung down by the shore while graffiti on the wall next to it shows the bright sparks of liberation, with people writing their names up as a way of expressing freedom.
Mark calls June out in the middle of the night, right over to Millerville, Mass. They're near the old Rhode Island line, which happens to be the new border with Gilead. Two men show and drop Janine off, dumping her on the road where she's reunited with June and the others. Aunt Lydia is here too, alongside Naomi who gives Charlotte back. While Lydia and Naomi head back into Gilead, there's a nice moment of respect between Lydia and June here.
What's the significance of The Handmaid's Tale title?
This opens the flood gates for more children being reunited with their parents, including Nichole and June. Not everyone gets their happy endings though, as Holly sits with her daughter and encourages her to write a book about her escape experience as a way of giving them all hope. This also explains the name of the show too, and how powerful words can be.
Luke manages to get the power back on and he's moving over to the New York border to fight the good fight. As for June, she's going to work with Mark and get Hannah back no matter what. They agree to meet each other later on down the line, and close off with a rousing 'fuck, yeah'.
How does the episode end?
June heads off to check out the old Waterford house, which has been destroyed now and stands as a derelict tombstone over the horrors that took place in the past. Whilst there, she imagines standing with Hannah, before getting a voice recorder out and talking about her experience.
The Episode Review
The finale of Handmaid's Tale works as a somber reflection over everything these women have been through and the open-ended conclusion certainly isn't going to be for everyone. In a way though it makes sense, given this fight is far from over, but it's hard not to shake the feel that we could have squeezed a few more seasons of fighting on the borders out of this story.
There are a lot of nice nods to earlier seasons though and most notably that scene of Emily and June walking by the shore, just like they did earlier in the show. It's a nice bit of symmetry and if there's one thing this series has always done well with, it's the artistic vision.
Serena finally gets her comeuppance too, caught as a refugee with just her son and not really fitting in anywhere as a consequence of her actions. In the end she becomes anonymous and forgotten; the worst punishment for a woman desperate to be somebody.
Luke finally gets some purpose here too after a few seasons of meandering around and not actually doing too much and this leadership role definitely works for him.
There are some good moments here though, like June learning that Mark is a Commander and the good type, not the Gilead oppressive type. This works well to give her character some closure, even if we don't get the rousing finale with a Hannah reunion as many (including myself) would have liked. However, we do get one in the form of Janine and Charlotte though, and it's hard not to get emotional at this.
Ultimately, The Handmaid's Tale finale wraps things up about as well as it could do, given the limited run-time. As a somber reflection over everything that's happened these past 8 years, and serving as a bridge to The Testament series with Aunt Lydia as the protagonist, there's enough in this to make for a decent enough finale.

What tomorrow's Strawberry Moon means for your star sign - from exposing fake friendships for Taurus to forcing Cancer to confront negative patterns

A rare Strawberry Moon is set to rise on Wednesday as the astrological event - which will not reoccur until 2043 - forces each star sign to take stock of their lives with honesty, openness, and courage. Due to a phenomenon known as 'major lunar standstill', the final full moon of spring will be the closest it's been to the Earth since 2006 - and won't sit as low in the sky again for another 18 years. The orange-tinted full moon of June will also appear much larger than usual because it's sat near the horizon, much to the delight of stargazers. Each month's moon is given a special name, such as 'Wolf Moon' in January or the 'Snow Moon' in February. The Strawberry Moon is so named because it is associated with the fruit's harvest season and it will rise at 10.46 BST on June 11. According to Jessie Hutter, an astrology expert at dating website SoSyncd, this is a time to take stock of your life and plan for the future - while navigating open, honest conversations and trusting your instinct. The full moon in Sagittarius encourages you to put plans into action and trust that you'll land on your feet, while clearing out any negative energies or blocks that might be holding you back. Here's what it means for each star sign: Aries This full moon will supercharge your fiery spirit, making you feel more energised than you have in weeks. You'll feel the urge to take action on things you've been putting off. Whether it's starting that side hustle you've been thinking of for weeks or taking that trip, go all in and do what makes you happy. Taurus Now is the time to step outside your comfort zone and have those honest conversations you've been putting off, even if it feels a little risky. Maybe you feel the need to confront that 'friend' who doesn't always have your best interests at heart. You know your boundaries, so don't be afraid to trust your intuition and put yourself first. Gemini Dreaming big isn't an issue for you, but taking action can be. With the full moon this week, it's a signal to turn those ideas into reality by focusing your energy and…committing! This doesn't always come naturally to you, but choosing one path - and staying on it - could be the best thing for you right now. Cancer It's time to shake up those routines that are making you feel stuck. Be honest with yourself and think about what habits and beliefs are holding you back. Recognising these patterns is the first step toward creating the change you need to move forward. Leo This rare moon is making your natural confidence and charisma shine even brighter. You were born to be in the spotlight, so don't let anyone dim your light. The time to be bold is now. Virgo It can be hard for Virgos to take a step back and see the bigger picture. But the Strawberry Moon is encouraging you to let go of perfection and focus on progress for now. Sometimes, it can be exciting to see how things unfold without controlling every little detail. Libra Are you overthinking whether you should take that next step again? This could be the green light you've been waiting for. Being bold doesn't mean people won't like you. But sometimes you need to shake things up to move forward in life. Scorpio Why hold onto financial worries or hidden money issues when this full moon is inviting you to break free? Now's the perfect time to face those tough money talks you've been avoiding. Your intense focus and determination give you the power to take control and make bold financial moves. Sagittarius Embracing freedom and being bold have never really been an issue for you. But recently you've been doubting your intuition and second-guessing your decisions. Remember, your optimism and adventurous spirit are your greatest strengths, so lean into them. Capricorn Loosening your grip on control and embracing spontaneity wouldn't be a bad thing right now. Taking a risk could open up new opportunities and lead to quicker results than you expect. Aquarius You've been thriving lately by trusting your unique vision and challenging the status quo. Now's the time to keep that momentum going and think about how you can give back in a way that matters to you. Your intuition has always been a powerful guide, especially when it comes to your career. This full moon encourages you to trust your inner voice and take steps toward your professional goals. Whether it's pitching that creative idea or applying for a new role, don't be afraid to dream big.

Woolworths announces major change to its famous mud cakes: 'I need it in my life'

Woolworths has unveiled a brand new twist on its iconic mud cake - and fans say it's one of the supermarket's best sweet treats to date. Landing in stores this week, the Choc Chip Cookie Mud Cake is the latest addition to its beloved range that sees five mud cakes sold every minute in Australia. Priced at just $7, the limited-edition 600g dessert is available both in-store and online from Tuesday, June 10. The new flavour features a caramel mud cake base packed with cookie pieces and topped with choc chip drizzle, blending two household favourites - cake and cookie - into one indulgent creation. Woolworths' Chief Cake Maker Laura Mcleod said the bakery team wanted to fuse the familiar nostalgia of freshly baked biscuits with the rich decadence of the brand's signature mud cake. 'We've infused that unmistakable, beloved flavour of freshly-baked choc chip cookies right into our signature caramel mud cake,' she explained, adding that the team knew Australians had a soft spot for that classic cookie taste. 'By combining it with our popular mud cake, we've aimed to create an irresistible new treat.' Early reviews suggest the gamble has paid off. Content creators Nick Vavitis and Nectro Vlangos shared their first impressions in a video taste test. Vavitis noted the cake was 'loaded with cookie on top' and 'full of choc chips,' describing the flavour as 'absolutely smashing [his] taste buds right now.' Vlangos agreed, saying it 'hits you in the face straight away' and likening the dessert to 'a massive chocolate chip muffin,' with a caramel ganache icing that adds to the richness. 'I absolutely love this one,' he said. 'It's the best mud cake since the birthday cake flavour.' Vavitis went one step further, calling it 'definitely one of the best mud cakes they have ever released.' Shoppers are already racing to try it, with social media comments flooding in after the cake's announcement. One shopper wrote, 'I need this in my life - three of my favourite things ever: cookies, mudcake, and chocolate chips.' Landing in stores this week, the Choc Chip Cookie Mud Cake is the latest addition to the beloved range that sees Aussies snapping up five mud cakes every minute Another added, 'You had me at giant chocolate chip muffin.' While others lamented the poor timing: 'Why am I seeing this after I've done my shopping for the week?' Of course, not everyone was entirely sold, with one customer commenting that it was 'a bit too dry' for their liking, though for many, that won't be enough to keep them away. With its caramel-cookie combo and nostalgic flavour profile, the Choc Chip Cookie Mud Cake is tipped to become the next cult favourite in Woolworths' bakery aisle - but only for a short time so you'll have to be quick.
