Shayno: Hello Mitchy. Looks like a perfect track coming up at HQ on Saturday with some sunny skies and a bit of wind. Who am I? Alan Wilkie! But anyway, no excuses this end if my horses get beaten.
Mitch: You were around for Alan's first broadcast weren't you Shayno? You are right. It's been a beautiful winter week in Sydney. I want to start in race 9 this week because that's where my best bet is. It's A Knockout was ultra impressive first-up and I am sticking with her. She is a stakes quality mare every day of the week.

Shayno: It is a good race. I was keen on Razors first-up but they were a bit too sharp for him (pardon the pun). The only time he has been to this track and trip, he was beaten narrowly in the South Pacific on QE2 day at the Championships.
Mitch: Will we see another Raging Force this week? I am tipping not but the two-year-old race is a competitive event all the same. I've gone the way of Crossbow. He did more than enough first-up over 1250m when narrowly pipped by Central Coast.
Shayno: I love all those 'K' horses that Waller trains for Messrs Morgan and Devine. They might have another 'Special K here in Kokatahi, the son of Farnan. He was third to Central Coast on debut and we all know how good he is.

Mitch: Piggyback is a mare I've got a bit of time for. She was unlucky not to win last start but can pay me back. Expecting her to edge out a golfer and a tennis player – that's Hovland and Federer.
Shayno: With Wimbledon on at the moment Mitchy how apt that Federer wins on Saturday? He is by Dundeel out of Jameka so every little metre added will help bring out his best IMHO.
Mitch: If I was to have a second best bet, it would have to come in the Midway on Callistemon. A winner this track and trip last start with a perfect draw again. The extra 2kg doesn't worry me.

Shayno: My best is Lulumon. Talk about strong form-lines; she beat Storm The Ramparts and Hi Dubai last start!
Mitch: Got her on top too Shayno so glad we agree on something. Just one value play to add in race 6, Morning Sun could do something fresh.

AFL 2025: Alastair Clarkson says he can steer Roos' through ‘growing pains'

North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson insists he is up for the challenge of leading the Kangaroos through their 'growing pains'. The Kangaroos suffered their worst loss for the season to Geelong last Saturday, succumbing to the Cats by 101 points, and are facing a sixth straight bottom-two finish. Despite collecting more wins than last year, the heat has risen on Clarkson and whether he is developing the raft of first-round picks to compete at AFL level. Clarkson referenced young defender Wil Dawson and how the Roos would persist with him in important roles, like the one he had on Jeremy Cameron for parts last week. The four-time premiership coach said 'it's all terrific learning' for players of Dawson's experience as they pushed through 'growing pains'. 'Three or four weeks ago when (Dawson) played against (Sam) Darcy, it was a real step forward, 'Geez, he can compete with Sam Darcy, that's a good effort',' he said. Picture: Mark Stewart 'Then he has a game against Geelong last week and it's Cameron and (Shannon) Neale and it's like, 'Oh wow, there's 15 goals between them' … it's all terrific learning. 'Some players need that exposure and it's tough to sit through. We don't want to sit through it for too long … it's just some of the growing pains unfortunately. 'Some of the more senior, experienced sides in the competition have already been through those growing pains, we're going through them now.' Clarkson said the question marks on whether he'd developed the young Roos at all were 'all part' of being a senior coach. He doesn't know when it can turn for North Melbourne but is confident it can. 'I had some tough times when I was at Hawthorn, 2014, no one would look at it and say, '2014 was a terrific year for Hawthorn, they won the premiership that year'. 'But gee we confronted some adversity. I was out for six weeks with a serious illness, some of our more senior players were missing 10, 12, 14 weeks of footy and it was a really, really tough year. 'It was unbelievably rewarding that even despite the adversity we were able to win – but that's what we're searching for. 'We know this game is tough, whether you're a side that's good and challenging at the top end, it's still really, really tough. 'Having been in the game a long period of time, as tough as it is and it seems like, 'Well gee we're being overly patient'. All of a sudden it will turn and the confidence of the group will rise. 'I love the challenge of it, it's a significant challenge, but I don't see it any different to the challenge when I first arrived at Hawthorn,' he said. 'No senior coach, political turmoil in the footy club, less than 25,000 members and in a very, very quick space of time that club was able to turn itself around. 'I am confident it can be done here as well and I'm enjoying the challenge of it as well.' NRL player agents face bans after Port Macquarie schoolboy carnival fight

Two leading NRL player agents are facing six and nine-month bans and $25,000 in fines after allegedly being involved in an altercation at a schoolboy rugby league carnival. Chris Orr and Nash Dawson were hit with breach notices by the NRL on Thursday after an investigation into the incident during the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships in 2024. Orr, who represents Storm star Jarrome Hughes and Newcastle recruit Dylan Brown, and Dawson, who manages Broncos duo Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam, were cited for breaching the NRL Accredited Player Agent Scheme rules and the Accredited Agents' Code of Conduct. It is also alleged the agents failed to co-operate with the NRL Integrity Unit. In a statement, the NRL declared the agents were 'required to operate with high personal and professional standards' and failed to do so. It's understood the two agents had a physical altercation outside a Port Macquarie pub last year while they were in town for the underage championships. They pair have five business days to respond to the breach notice. Rival player managers Mario Tartak and Matt Desira were issued notices last month for allegedly breaching NRL agent accreditation rules. Scone, Narrandera races called off, weather threatens more meetings

Thursday's meetings at Scone and Narrandera were abandoned due to heavy rainfall in the districts while a host of meetings on Friday and over the weekend are also under a cloud. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Right now as things stand the meeting is OK but we are probably going to need a bit of luck in the next 24 hours and beyond,' Racing NSW chief steward Tom Moxon said. The Coffs Harbour meeting, headlined by the $150,000 Coffs Harbour Cup (1600m) which carries Big Dance eligibility, is also set down for Friday and possibly is the safest meeting in the state over the next three days. The Mid-North Coast track was rated a soft (6) on Thursday morning with less than 10mm of rail expected during the remainder of Thursday and Friday. • J-Mac in touching distance of Moore's all-time mark Saturday's three TAB meetings at Rosehill, Newcastle and Tuncurry are all needing some luck with heavy rain predicted along the coast over the next three days. Rosehill was rated a heavy (8) at 8am on Thursday, with rain continuing to fall, and the forecast leading into the meeting is for up to 25mm on Friday and between 8mm and 35mm on Saturday. 'We'll go out and inspect the track on Friday afternoon at around 2pm,' Moxon said. 'A few of the forecasters are predicting varying amounts of rain so it's going to be a case of 'watch this space'. 'We'll inspect again on Saturday morning and hopefully we have a bit of luck with the weather.' Newcastle and Tuncurry are separated by 163km and the forecast for the southern part of the Mid-North Coast isn't as favourable as it is a further 247km north at Coffs Harbour. Newcastle copped 30mm in the 24 hours prior to 7.45am on Thursday and was rated a heavy (10) with Thursday's total rainfall predicted to be up to 25mm with a further 35mm on Friday and 50mm on Saturday possible. At Tuncurry the track was rated a heavy (8) and similar numbers are being predicted in the next 72 hours. • Schiller gets green light for early spring return 'Things are not looking as good at Newcastle and Tuncurry but we'll continue to monitor the situation and weight up what our options are going forward,' Moxon said. Sunday's Wyong meeting is also in doubt with the Central Coast track expecting similar falls to Newcastle with a further 20mm possible on Sunday. The track was put out a soft (7) on Thursday. The Forbes Cup meeting is also scheduled for Sunday and the track was rated a heavy (8) on Thursday morning. The Central West town has a much more favourable weather outlook over the next few days with only 7mm of rain forecast over the next four days.
