Former Bihar Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday took a dig at the NDA government in the state, saying that the state has been suffering from the Bihar government's failure for many years. In a post on X, Yadav shared a caricature and said, "Bihar has been carrying the failure of the Bihar government for many years!"Earlier on June 2, Lashing out at the "double-engine" government in Bihar over the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Muzaffarpur, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav alleged "administrative anarchy" in the state as law and order has "collapsed".Speaking to the media, Yadav said that no one from the government has time to visit the victim's family, as "the CM and his Deputy CMs are busy with political programmes.""The double-engine government has failed in Bihar. The CM never discussed this; I am unsure if he is even aware of the incidents. Law and order have collapsed. There is administrative anarchy in the whole of Bihar. No action is being taken... No one has time to meet the victim or the victim's family. The CM and both the Deputy CMs are busy in political programmes," Tejashwi Yadav said. This comes after a 10-year-old girl died at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Sunday. The minor girl's uncle, Virendra Paswan, has, however, alleged negligence on the part of the hospital administration and doctors, stating that she was kept waiting for two hours inside the ambulance before getting admission to the hospital. On Sunday, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi , lashed out at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, led by Nitish Kumar , over the "brutality against a minor Dalit girl", alleging negligence in her treatment at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).In a post on X, LoP Gandhi alleged that the "double-engine" government's negligence led to the Dalit girl's death."The brutality against a minor Dalit girl in Muzaffarpur and the subsequent negligence in her treatment are extremely shameful. If she had received timely treatment, her life could have been saved. But the double-engine government was negligent not only in providing security but also in saving his life," he said. The Congress leader further demanded strict action against the accused."We will not sit quietly until the victim's family gets justice. Strict action should be taken against the culprits and negligent officers," the post read.Notably, the Bihar assembly election is due this year.

‘Some have habit of creating doubts': Minister Bhupender Yadav rebuts Jairam Ramesh on Delhi Zoo privatization concerns

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav Saturday rebutted questions and privatization concerns raised by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh regarding the Delhi Zoo and an agreement proposed between the Centre-run establishment and Reliance-run Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (GZRRC). In a post on social media platform X, Yadav said that the National Zoological Park (NZP), which is run by the Centre, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GZRRC, based in Gujarat's Jamnagar, in January 2021, and NZP has sought to revise the existing MoU. He said NZP has signed MoUs with different organisations working in wildlife management in the past as part of its modernisation drive and will continue to do so. Replying to Ramesh's post, Yadav said, 'Some people have made it a habit to create doubts in the mind of the public at every instance.' Ramesh had said on June 4 that while the government 'claims that this is not a management transfer, its past record does not inspire confidence. Is this the first step towards handing over the zoo to a private enterprise?' Yadav said that the 2021 MoU between NZP and GZRRC focused on the exchange of animals, capacity building, animal keepers, technical exchanges on the scientific management of animals, and sharing knowledge on conservation breeding and education. 'Keeping in line with the common objectives of captive wildlife management and for further broadening the collaboration as per current management requirements, NZP sought to revise the existing MoU with GZRRC. The proposed MoU aims to foster collaboration in wildlife conservation, rescue, rehabilitation, animal health, and welfare,' Yadav said. The key areas of cooperation, he added, include support for veterinary care, enclosure design, enrichment, staff training, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and potential animal exchanges. Yadav added in his post that GZRRC has developed state-of-the-art facilities and services in animal health and welfare, world-class zoo designing, rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals, and habitat enrichment. NZP, he said, being a 60-year-old institution, has gained substantial expertise in breeding and care of many endangered species and is aiming to modernise its facilities and services by adopting best practices in animal welfare in captivity, as well as enhanced visitor experience, on par with a world-class zoo. The Central Zoo Authority granted approval to GZRCC in February 2019, and an initial recognition was granted in August 2020. As per its latest available annual report, GZRRC is home to 10,360 animals of 345 species. Most animals housed at GZRRC are 'part of its initiative to rescue captive animals from impoverished conditions in zoos and facilities in the nature of zoos, to decongest them and provide welfare to animals that were housed under sub-optimal conditions,' the annual report states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited and inaugurated Vantara, the rescue facility at Jamnagar, on March 4 this year.

CM Chandrababu Naidu Urges MLAs to Enhance Public Trust in Alliance Government

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National President Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called upon all MLAs to step up their efforts and improve their performance. During a teleconference on Saturday with TDP members, leaders, and MLAs at the party office in Amaravati, CM Naidu emphasised the importance of earning and maintaining the trust of the public, reminding them that the citizens are closely observing their actions. Highlighting an upcoming event, CM Naidu announced plans to organise a gathering of 2,000 people in Amaravati on June 12 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the NDA government assuming power. He urged that similar programmes be held across Andhra Pradesh, stressing the need to communicate the developmental initiatives undertaken by the NDA government throughout the year. The Chief Minister expressed his awareness of the performance of individual MLAs and stressed the importance of being accessible to the public. He aimed to inform citizens about the prevailing conditions in Andhra Pradesh under the NDA alliance, particularly as the state grapples with a significant financial crisis leading up to June 2024. Reflecting on his experience as a four-time Chief Minister, Naidu remarked that he had never encountered such challenging circumstances. Nonetheless, he is focused on improving the state's financial situation while continuing with welfare and development programmes. He expressed frustration over the disruptive actions of certain individuals, stating that there is a need to take a firm stance against such elements. Naidu also noted the historical context of issues like drug availability, particularly ganja, asserting that significant progress has been made in controlling these problems. He assured a strong crackdown on lawlessness, drug trafficking, and organised crime in the state. On a positive note, the Chief Minister mentioned the success of the recent Mahanadu event and confirmed that the establishment of all committees and state bodies would be finalised by next month. He encouraged party members to actively participate in Yoga Day celebrations, promoting the benefits of yoga for their health and well-being.

Citing CAG data, Jagan claims Andhra's fiscal performance indicates 'distress'

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy (File Photo) YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday cited the CAG's data for the month of April and claimed Andhra Pradesh's fiscal performance indicates 'distress'.The former chief minister noted that the figures released by CAG for the month of the April 2025 convey the 'real picture'."The State GST revenues for the first month of this financial year (April 2025) demonstrated contraction to the tune of 24.20 percent, when compared to the April 2024," he said in a post on 'X'. Though the TDP-led NDA government on May 1 proclaimed that net GST collection of the state government for the month of April 2025 had been the 'highest' since the introduction of GST at Rs 3,354 crore, Reddy said technically net GST will be subsequent to all adjustments. As soon as the CAG figures have become public, the government 'mischievously' issues one more press release suggesting that even in May month the GST revenues were at record high, he alleged. "In this press release they mention that, in April, 2025, the Central Government deducted Rs 796 crores on account of adjustment of advance apportionment from IGST (integrated GST), so GST revenues have come down," said to the opposition leader, advance apportionment of IGST is accounted for under minor head 110 and is part of SGST (state GST) under major head 0006 of government said this is a regular process and net GST revenues would be arrived at after accounting for all these adjustments, and added that it was the case in the previous years as well."The May 1 press release says that net GST collection is Rs 3,354 crore for April 2025. Now, they (govt) say that Rs 796 crore is adjusted. One can clearly understand that this is nothing but a cover up after truth about the GST revenue is brought to light by the CAG," said Reddy. Further, the opposition leader observed that quite contrary to what the NDA alliance government had suggested, the figures released by CAG indicate that the 'trend of economic sluggishness' is more pronounced in April with the tax revenues dropping by 12.21 percent and non-tax revenues registering a fall of 22 percent when compared to April 2024. If the state's own revenues are taken into consideration, Reddy said, the fall over the previous year is 12.76 percent, indicating a 'very gloomy picture'. Meanwhile, there was no immediate reaction from the ruling TDP.
