Lauren James makes Lionesses Euro 2025 squad together with Michelle Agyemang
Lauren James has been included in England's final squad of 23 players for July's Women's European Championship in a big boost to Sarina Wiegman's side's hopes of retaining the trophy they won for the first time in 2022.
The Chelsea forward has been sidelined since April with a hamstring injury but has been deemed to be fit enough to travel to Switzerland, where England will begin their campaign against France in Group D on 5 July.
There is also a place for the 19-year-old Arsenal forward Michelle Agyemang, who scored on her debut away at Belgium in April, and the Arsenal centre-back Lotte Wubben-Moy is included too following Wednesday's withdrawal of Millie Bright.
There is no place in the squad, however, for the Brighton forward Nikita Parris, and Aston Villa midfielder Missy Bo Kearns. Both players were part of the recent, larger squad for England's win over Portugal in May and their loss in Spain on Tuesday.
Kearns is one of four players named on standby alongside the Brighton goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley, the Manchester City midfielder Laura Blindkilde Brown and the Aston Villa defender Lucy Parker.
It means there is no place in the camp for the Brighton youngster Maisie Symonds, who received a call-up in March, nor for midfielders Laura Coombs and Katie Zelem, who were both part of England's squad for the 2023 World Cup.
Wiegman's squad announcement comes after a tumultuous week for the Lionesses which have seen Mary Earps and Fran Kirby both retire from international duty, and Chelsea's Bright withdraw in order to look after her mental and physical health.
The squad will travel to Switzerland on 30 June, after starting their training camp at St George's Park on 16 June.

Sobbing Sabalenka apologises for 'terrible' final
PARIS, June 7 (Reuters) - French Open runner-up Aryna Sabalenka broke down in tears and apologised for what she labelled a "terrible final" after losing 6-7(5) 6-2 6-4 to American Coco Gauff on Saturday. World number one Sabalenka appeared to be in the driving seat after taking a 4-1 lead in the opening set, but made a staggering total of 70 unforced errors in the match. "This will hurt so much, especially after such a tough two seeks playing great tennis in terrible conditions," the Belarusian said as she stifled her sobs. "Thank you my team for the support, I'm sorry for this terrible final. As always I will come back stronger," the three-time Grand Slam champion said. "To Coco: you deserve it, you're a hard worker, a fighter."

Arsenal close in on first summer signing with cut-price deal for Chelsea flop
Arsenal look set to complete their first signing of the summer transfer window after agreeing a cut-price fee for a forgotten Chelsea star. Alongside signing a marquee goalscorer to lead the line, the Gunners have been keen to sign a backup keeper to provide cover for David Raya. Neto has returned to Bournemouth after his season-long loan at the Emirates, while highly-rated teenagers Jack Porter and Tommy Setford arelikely to spend the coming season out on loan. Arsenal had been heavily linked with a move for Espanyol keeper Joan Garcia, having previously failed with a bid to sign the Spaniard last summer. The 24-year-old looks destined to leave his boyhood club this summer but, despite Arsenal's renewed interest, he now looks to be on the verge of joining Espanyol's local rivals Barcelona. Forced to look elsewhere, Arsenal have instead moved quickly to secure a move for Chelsea outcast Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to The Athletic. Kepa signed for Chelsea from Athletic Club for a whopping £72million back in 2018, but is now set to move across London for just £5m due to buyout clause in his current contract. The 30-year-old has made 109 Premier League appearances for the Blues but has spent the last two seasons away from the club on loan at Real Madrid and Bournemouth respectively. The Spaniard will now join Arteta's side to provide competition for Raya who has established himself as one of the league's best keepers. Kepa may appear happy to sit on the bench and challenge Raya for minutes, but former Gunners midfielder Ray Parlour said the Spaniard shouldn't settle for a back-up role at this stage of his career. More Trending 'It's all on whether he wants to play, he's not going to play at Arsenal is he?' the former England midfielder told talkSPORT. 'He's going to be the No.2, do you want to be No.2? He's obviously been No.1 at Bournemouth. If you're Arsenal, you want to buy him because he's a great No.2 to have. 'But if you're Kepa, you want to play unless you're happy to sit on the bench but if I was a keeper at his age I'd want to play because you'll regret it once you finish.'
