Tofiq Musayev ready for 'different level' in UFC on ABC 8 debut
Musayev (22-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who won the 2019 Rizin FF lightweight grand prix and has beaten the likes of Patricky Freire, Johnny Case and Sidney Outlaw, will test himself against the 155-pound roster in the UFC starting with Saturday's matchup against Myktybek Orolbai (13-2-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at Baku Crystal Hall in Azerbaijan (ABC, ESPN, ESPN+).

"It's a dream of all fighters to be fighting in the UFC," Musayev said through an interpreter at Wednesday's UFC on ABC 8 media day. "It's a different level of course. I feel very lucky that I'm ere. I have fought in different organizations but this is a unique one. I have prepared well and I am going to represent my country with pride. I have prepared specifically for my opponent."
Although Musayev has proven himself to be high level, there's speculation about whether, at 35, he's coming into the shark tank of the UFC's lightweight division too late to rise to the top.
Only time will tell, but he intends to give it his best shot.
"Age is just a number for me," Musayev said. "If anyone thinks otherwise, they shouldn't even be competing in the UFC."

"I'm focused on my opponent and later on I will focus on the next steps. This fight will determine what the next fights will be."

Bryan Battle explains bad UFC 319 weight miss, fine if promotion releases him – ‘I don't feel entitled'
'The Butcher' is in a bad spot. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) prospect and The Ultimate Fighter Season 29 winner Bryan Battle was scheduled to compete on this past weekend's UFC 319 pay-per-view card. Instead, his fight with Nursulton Ruziboev was scrapped after Battle missed weight by four pounds at weigh-ins. The two fighters later made amends and even agreed to run it back at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi. But despite that tentative plan, there's still a chance Battle could get the proverbial axe — and the 30-year-old says he's at peace with it. 'Regardless, no matter what happens, I know I'm still one of the best on the planet, so I know I'll be back,' Battle told Ariel Helwani. 'If I have to go out, whoop some ass, prove myself, and show that I can still do it and still make weight, then that's what I'll go do. I'll come back and fulfill my potential, but I'm in a place right now where I don't feel entitled to anything.' 'I would understand [if UFC releases me],' Battle added. 'If they're kind of gracious, I'll be extremely thankful for that. But this is just a time where I must focus on the day-to-day.' As for what went wrong, Battle explained that he underestimated the cut. Moving up a weight class, he believed it would be an easier process — but things unraveled quickly. 'I'm getting older, and I think my body just can't do the things it used to do. I thought it was going to be a piece of cake, a walk in the park,' Battle said. 'When you're cutting weight and things go south — once things start going downhill, it's hard to recover from it.' 'The Butcher' admitted he only lost two pounds over the course of five hours on Friday morning, despite sweating the entire time. For now, Battle (7-1) remains on the UFC roster, though his future hangs in the balance. For more UFC 319 results, coverage, and highlights click .

Everything You Need To Know About WWE's New Deal With ESPN
WWE announced a new deal this morning with ESPN that will see the company's premium live events move to the ESPN app in 2026. But what does that mean for you? This morning, ESPN announced a direct-to-consumer streaming service app. The app will launch on August 21 and cost $29.99 a month. But what does all of this mean for WWE premium live events in 2026? If you're in the United States, all WWE PLEs will move to the ESPN app for the next five years. Select premium live events will even air on ESPN's cable channel. This is an excessive price hike compared to what fans are used to paying on Peacock. But if you already have ESPN through any traditional TV provider (cable, satellite, YouTube TV, etc.), you'll be able to authenticate that with the app and get this for no additional charge. WWE is making bank on this deal as well. Their deal with ESPN for the next five years is worth $325 million compared to the $180 million Peacock paid previously. What happens to the WWE archives? With all WWE content scheduled to leave Peacock in 2026, many want to know what that means for the company's archive of events. Well, we have a confusing update on that as well. According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), when asked about the status of the WWE archives, he wasn't given a firm answer. But it was teased to him that WWE's advanced relationship with Google could eventually see their archives live on YouTube. If you're outside of the United States (or you have a VPN), this news means very little to you. All WWE programming will continue to air on Netflix internationally, including their premium live events. Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on WWE's new deal with ESPN as it becomes available.
