Their journey from YG trainees to global icons is the stuff of legends, blending hip-hop swagger with emotional ballads that hooked millions.
The group's impact? They've racked up over 1.4 billion views on their official YouTube channel alone, according to YouTube analytics as of 2025. That's not just numbers; it's a testament to their enduring appeal, even after military hiatuses and solo ventures.
Surprise guests and birthday shenanigans
The teaser for Daesung's YouTube channel 'Jib-Dae-Seong' dropped on August 15, starting with him chatting up random folks on the street about AI - because why not? Then boom, G-Dragon and Taeyang crash the party, lighting up a cake and serenading with a cheeky "Happy 19th Birthday, BigBang!" rendition.
Their smiles lit up the screen, and honestly, it was the serotonin boost we all needed.
This isn't their first rodeo on the channel. They did a full-group appearance back in November last year, dishing out laughs and stories that had fans replaying clips for days. The full episode airs on August 19 at 7 p.m. KST - perfectly timed for their debut anniversary. Expect unscripted banter, maybe some throwback tales, and that unbreakable bromance that's kept VIPs loyal through thick and thin.
What's next in the anniversary glow
With the episode dropping on debut day, fans are buzzing about potential surprises. Will there be hints at new music? A nod to past collabs? Daesung's variety skills mixed with G-Dragon's quick wit and Taeyang's smooth vocals could make this a mini-concert in disguise. Plus, YG teased a fan message montage, turning it into a global love letter.
Nineteen years in, BigBang shows no signs of fading - they're evolving, entertaining, and keeping the K-pop flame alive. Grab your popcorn; this party's just getting started.

Rs 90L in subsidies, but artisans still struggle with rising costs

(PTI Photo)(PTI08_13_2025_000314B) Karad: An artist gives finishing touches to an idol of Lord Ganesha ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, in Karad, Maharashtra. (PTI Photo) (PTI08_08_2025_000137B) Despite the corporation's subsidy scheme, traditional idol makers struggle with rising costs, insufficient aid, and labour shortages. Morajkar said the survey to identify PoP idol sales began on Aug 8, and so far, GHRSSIDC's inspection has flagged none. He said that the inspection will continue until Aug 24. 'Local mud clay idols are the customer's first choice, due to our awareness campaigns. The Shadu Mati and coconut fibre idols from Maharashtra are in demand, but not as much as the local clay ones,' Morajkar told TOI . GHRSSIDC offers a subsidy of Rs 250 per idol for up to 250 idols to the local idol makers. As of July 2025, GHRSSIDC received 367 local vendor applications for registration. In 2024, 475 vendors received subsidies totalling Rs 90.5 lakh on the sale of 45,248 idols, Morajkar said. Pernem, Sattari, and Bicholim talukas have the highest concentration of traditional idol makers in Goa. 'Earlier, we used to get the Chikal Mati at Rs 20,000 for a 10m truck. Now, the prices have risen to Rs 25,000,' said Bicholim sculptor Durgaram Shet. Local artisans allege the PoP idol ban is not strictly enforced. The clay idols are heavier, with rich colours being another distinguishing feature. Umakant Poke, a third-generation sculptor from Morjim, said that because certain vendors sell PoP idols, local sculptors catch negative attention from handicraft officials. 'They think we are selling PoP idols. We are trying to earn money with our honest efforts,' Poke said. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). 'Apoorva Mukhija has no concern for the fact that I'm hurt': Sufi Motiwala reveals why they are not friends anymore
Apoorva Mukhija and Sufi Motiwala became friends on the reality show The Traitors, and they even collaborated on a storytime video on her YouTube channel. However, many noticed that Sufi did not include any mention of Apoorva in his latest Instagram reel. The two of them are among a select few content creators who were in Australia for a Stranger Things event. Sufi has now clarified the speculation about their friendship and admitted that they are no longer friends. Sufi Motiwala has broken his silence on the comments about his bond with Apoorva Mukhija. What Sufi said about The Rebel Kid Sufi took to his Instagram Stories and wrote, 'No more lies. I've received a lot of texts saying that I've taken clout from Apoorva and I've left her. I've literally never collaborated on a reel with her and have been on her YouTube twice, both of which were her content pieces entirely. So no I'm not sorry I didn't use her for clout (incase u forgot we were on the same show without knowing each other I don't need her clout) I wanted to be friends with Apoorva not the rebel kid when there was no accountability constantly for how I was being treated I distanced myself." Sufi via Instagram Stories. 'I'm not friends with her anymore' He added, "I even requested her to ask her audience to calm down because they've been abusing me for no reason. Sadly this person who called me her best friend has no concern for that and or the fact that maybe I'm hurt. THAT is why I'm not friends with her anymore. Keep it cute keep it moving.' He concluded, 'Idc about anything u think I'm a horrible person ok. But I have worked my a** off to build myself to where I am and I won't let a bunch of children discredit that by spreading misinformation.' Apoorva has not spoken about this matter on her social media accounts as of yet. Both Apoorva and Sufi became close friends during their stint on The Traitors. Sufi had previously supported Apoorva after another contestant, Sudhanshu Pandey, criticised her for using abusive language and her behaviour towards others on the show. Even during the controversy of India's Got Latent, Sufi had stood in support of Apoorva after she received heavy backlash and media scrutiny.

Apoorva Makheja aka Rebel Kid's ex hints she cheated on him amid fallout with Rida Tharana and Sufi Motiwala – all we know!
Social media creator Rebel Kid, also known as Apoorva Mukhija, is once again making buzz. Known for her quirky content, appearances on Karan Johar's reality show The Traitors, and the movie Nadaaniyan, she recently became the center of online discussions following a friendship fallout with fellow creator Sufi Motiwala, this following her popular fallout with Rida Tharana. Friendship fallout with Sufi Motiwala Apoorva and Sufi, who became friends during The Traitors, which was released in June 2025. They featured in each other's Instagram stories, collaborated on Rebel Kid's YouTube videos, and shared fan-made reels celebrating their friendship. However, the duo recently seemed to drift apart. When invited by Netflix for Wednesday 2 in Sydney, both creators avoided tagging each other in posts, sparking online chatter that even reached Reddit. Sufi addressed the situation on his Instagram stories on August 17, writing: What he said 'NO MORE LIES. I wanted to be friends with Apoorva Mukhija, not the Rebel Kid. When there was no accountability for how I was being treated, I distanced myself. I even requested her to ask her audience to calm down because they were abusing me for no reason. Sadly, this person who called me her best friend has no concern for that or for the fact that I might be hurt. THAT is why I'm not friends with her anymore. Keep it cute, keep it moving.' At the time of writing, Motiwala and Tharana, both have unfollowed Rebel Kid on Instagram. Ex claims she cheated Amid the friendship drama, Rebel Kid's ex, Utsav Dahiya, also made buzz. The two had dated in early 2023 before announcing their breakup on January 31, when Rebel wrote: 'Most of you all guessed it already, but Utsav and I are not together anymore. I can't wait for the slut-shaming, gold-digging gossip threads on me now. But lesson learned, agla jiju reveal shaadi pe karungi ab.' Following their split, Mukhija continued sharing content that allegedly appeared to hint at Dahiya being in the wrong, ranging from lighthearted videos with Anupam Mittal to calling her ex-partners 'ghatiya log,' which drew significant backlash toward him. However, as the India's Got Latent controversy surrounding Mukhija cooled down, Dahiya posted a video on August 17 hinting that Apoorva cheated on him. His song, titled 'Cute Little Red Flags,' also references a phrase Mukhija frequently uses in her videos. The caption of the post read, 'Ab agar koi aur bakwaas karega toh main seedha receipts nikalunga. Never try to gain sympathy by fabricating lies or pushing false narratives just to make content and assassinate someone's character online. Having a big following doesn't give you the right to bully your way by rage-baiting your audience and unleashing them on others. Truth doesn't need 'followers'; it stands on its own. Toh tum chalao apna ghar kalesh se, but kisi ke baare mein jhoot bolna band karo. Baki logo ko life mein dhanke kaam karne do. Grow up, kid.'
