Busy season ahead for Tenby Sailing Club and latest results
On Saturday, July 19, Tenby Sailing Club hosted two dinghy races organised by John McKellar, with the south-easterly wind providing a challenge to the three participating crews.
Robin Wood and Ben Roberts, sailing R244, won both races.
Steve Leach in RS600 784 came in second in race one, while the Osprey 1342, manned by Ted Lewis and Lucas Boissevain, took the runner-up spot in race two.
Peter Rose, who processed the results, also travelled to Gelliswick Bay for the Pembrokeshire Yacht Club Regatta.
He, alongside his son John, clinched victory in Division 2 on Saturday and secured third place in Division 1 of the Seven Forts Race on Sunday.
The Redwing Class racing on Thursdays is reportedly revitalising the class in Tenby, with the 2025 National Redwing Championships set to take place in the town from August 23-29.
Meanwhile, some members of the cruiser class embarked on a two-week holiday to the Scilly Isles on Sunday.
Six more races have been scheduled for the season between August 9 and September 21.
Junior training, which has seen more than 20 young sailors participate since April, continues on Wednesday evenings.
However, there will be no session on August 6 due to the National Championship week for GP14s, Enterprises, and Miracles.
The training will resume on August 13 and continue until September 17.
The club is looking forward to a busy racing season, with more events planned for the coming weeks.

County hoping for strong start to new era at Barnet
Newport County AFC get their 2025-2026 campaign underway with a Carabao Cup preliminary round tie away at newly-promoted League Two rivals Barnet (kick-off 7.30pm, July 29). It's the beginning of a new era for County with manager David Hughes taking charge of his first competitive match after replacing Nelson Jardim in May. The former Aston Villa and Cardiff City defender, aged 47, is in his first managerial role since two brief spells as Barry Town boss in 2003 and 2004 but he has an impressive pedigree as a youth coach with Villa, Cardiff, Southampton and most recently Manchester United. Hughes will be aiming to improve on the Exiles' 22nd-place finish in the fourth tier last season and he has been busy in the transfer market over the summer. Goalkeepers Nik Tzanev and Jordan Wright, centre-back Lee Jenkins, Wales midfielder Matt Smith and striker Ged Garner have all arrived at Rodney Parade, while Manchester United defender Habeeb Ogunneye and Cardiff City striker Michael Reindorf have joined on loan. Academy product Moses Alexander-Walker has also impressed in pre-season, netting a late winner at Weston-super-Mare, and the 17-year-old could feature at Barnet. But, having seen the likes of Nick Townsend, Shane McLoughlin and Aaron Wildig depart since the end of last season, Hughes says he is still looking to make signings before Saturday's league opener at home to Notts County. "We are looking for one or two to come in and support [the squad], but they have to be right," said Hughes. "It's not a numbers game, we need guys who are going to come in and add something that we haven't got already. "We've tried to be logical in our approach through the summer and that's the right thing to do. We are looking but they have to add to what we have already got in the squad." County will be without Keenan Patten for the foreseeable future after the midfielder suffered a broken leg during last week's pre-season friendly against Bristol City. The 24-year-old former Wales Under-19 player underwent surgery last Wednesday on an open leg fracture. County said 'it is too early to provide a clear timeline for his recovery' but said Patten would be out 'for a lengthy period.' The injury occurred early in the second half following a collision at the Robins High Performance Centre, with the club thanking the paramedics and medical staff in attendance for their care. Hughes said: "Thankfully the injury wasn't as bad as we initially feared at that particular moment in time, but we'll be there to support him through his rehabilitation and we're already looking forward to seeing him back on the grass." County last met Barnet in December 2023 when they won 4-1 in an FA Cup second-round replay at The Hive Stadium. The north London outfit were National League champions last season. They have Newport-born goalkeeper Owen Evans and former County midfielders Anthony Hartigan and Emmanuel Osadebe in their ranks.

Welsh international Woodham joins Liverpool
Liverpool have completed the signing of Welsh international defender Lily Woodham on a free transfer. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this afternoon. The 24-year-old joins Liverpool upon her return from representing Wales at UEFA Women's EURO 2025. Woodham has been capped by The Red Dragons on 42 occasions in which she has scored three goals. At club level, Woodham was most-recently on the books of American National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) club Seattle Reign. Her contract was terminated last week, allowing her to return to the English game. Woodham has built plenty of experience playing in the English game from spells with Bristol City, Reading, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace. She spent the second half of last season on loan with the latter club. After joining Liverpool, Woodham said 'It's amazing. Obviously I'm a fan of Liverpool, so it's a dream come true really. 'I'm really excited to meet everyone. It already feels like a home from home and everyone has been so nice to me and welcomed me. 'I just want to bring everything I can to the team and always give my all in games and training.' Woodham is Liverpool's fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

Wales defender Woodham signs for Liverpool
Wales defender Lily Woodham has joined Liverpool following her departure from Seattle Reign. Woodham, who started all Wales' games at Euro 2025, left Reign over the weekend having joined the National Women's Soccer League club in 2024. The 24-year-old left-back spent most of the 2024-25 season on loan at Crystal Palace, making 20 appearances in the Women's Super League. Woodham returns to the English top flight on a permanent basis after joining a Reds side who finished seventh last season.
