Disney+ has confirmed an early renewal for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, with Season 3 already in the works before the second season even premieres.
The news comes as the series wraps up production on its second season, slated for release in December. Season 3 will adapt the third book in Rick Riordan's beloved series, The Titan's Curse, and will introduce key characters like Nico di Angelo and the Hunters of Artemis.
Rick Riordan expressed excitement about the continued success of the show, emphasizing how thrilled he is to bring new characters to life for fans. "This third season will be new territory for the screen," Riordan said. "It's a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show."
The renewal aligns with Disney+'s strategy to keep pace with the growing age of the main cast, including Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood). Riordan has previously mentioned his intent to tell each book's story across individual seasons, which means shorter gaps between seasons are crucial to maintain the authenticity of the characters' age progression.
Season 3 will also bring fresh casting, including the roles of Nico and Bianca di Angelo, children of Hades. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, praised the series for resonating deeply with fans and reaffirmed Disney's commitment to continuing Percy's journey.
