Atlanta opened the third quarter on a 14-0 run and closed the frame with a 74-36 lead. The Dream made 13 field goals in the third — one more than the Sky had through three quarters.
The score was 62-26 before the Sky made their second field goal of the second half with 3:24 left in the third. The Dream led by as many as 43 in the fourth.
Both teams were missing key starters. Chicago star Angel Reese missed her first game of the season with a leg injury and guard Ariel Atkins was out due to a calf injury. Dream forward Rhyne Howard will be out for the rest of July with a knee injury.
Rookie Te-Hina Paopao finished with 13 points and Naz Hillmon scored 10 for Atlanta (13-9). Jordin Canada had eight assists.
Rebecca Allen had a team-high nine points and three 3-pointers — all in the third quarter — for Chicago (7-15). Kamilla Cardoso added eight points and 11 rebounds.
Chicago avoided its lowest scoring game in franchise history when Moriah Jefferson made a jumper in the lane with 30.3 seconds left.

Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers' NBA Summer League team will face their Boston Celtics counterparts on Thursday evening, as they look to improve their 1-2 record in Las Vegas. The Lakers opened their Summer League campaign with an 87-85 loss to 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks, then bounced back with a 94-81 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. In their latest outing, James and the Lakers fell to the LA Clippers squad, 67-58. Despite the result, James shined against the Clippers with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 makes behind the arc. Bronny played in 27 games for the senior team and made 11 appearances for the Lakers, averaging just 2.3 points per game. So far in this tournament, James is clocking in 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. Thursday's game against Boston will be immediately followed by the Lakers' showdown against the Denver Nuggets on Friday. The Celtics sit 10th in the Summer League standings with a 2-1 record ahead of Thursday's showdown. Giannis Antetokounmpo reacts to Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard news
Damian Lillard agreed to a three-year, $42 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday after the Milwaukee Bucks surprisingly waived him — and Giannis Antetokounmpo showed love to his former teammate's move. The Bucks shocked the NBA by signing Myles Turner to a four-year, $108.9 million deal in free agency. However, they waived and stretched the remaining $113 million on Lillard's contract to create the necessary cap space. Now, Lillard returns to the city where he spent the first 11 years of his career. The nine-time All-Star announced his return to Rip City on Instagram, with Antetokounmpo quickly showing support by liking the post. The two superstars were brought together when Lillard was dealt to Milwaukee in September 2023, with high expectations surrounding the pairing of future NBA legends. However, the Bucks failed to make a serious postseason run in Lillard's stint with Milwaukee, losing to the Pacers in the first round of the playoffs in back-to-back years. MORE: Former Bucks star Damian Lillard signs $42 million deal to return to Portland While injuries also put a damper on the Bucks' title aspirations, both sides will now look toward the future. Milwaukee has retooled its roster this offseason, re-signing several key rotation players while adding Turner, Cole Anthony and Gary Harris. Lillard is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2025-26 season due to a torn left Achilles tendon, though he'll provide veteran leadership for Portland as they attempt to make the postseason for the first time since 2020-21. Across 131 regular-season appearances with Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, the 35-year-old point guard averaged 24.6 points, 7.0 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 three-pointers and 1.1 steals across 35.7 minutes per game. Dustin Poirier wants Lil Wayne to wrap the BMF belt at UFC 318
NEW ORLEANS – It looks like Lil Wayne will get the honor to wrap the "Baddest Motherf*cker" belt around the winner at this weekend's UFC 318. This Saturday, the BMF title will be up for grabs as Max Holloway puts his belt on the line in a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 318 – which takes place at Smoothie King Center (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+). The BMF title, separate from the divisional UFC undisputed belts, has been presented on fight night by a special guest other than UFC CEO Dana White, who ordinarily crowns the champions. This time around, both Holloway (26-8 MMA, 22-8 UFC) and Poirier (30-9 MMA, 22-8 UFC) want that person to be rapper Lil Wayne – who will be walking out Poirier, a fellow Louisiana native, in his retirement fight. "Let Weezy do it," Poirier said when asked about it at Thursday's UFC 318 pre-fight press conference. Holloway has no objections, "I'm not going to disagree with that." There's been three BMF title fights since the inauguration of the belt – which was original supposed to be a one-off event. At UFC 244 in 2019, the inaugural night of the BMF title, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wrapped the belt around Jorge Masvidal, who defeated Nate Diaz. Then, it was a then retired Masvidal, who gave the belt to Justin Gaethje when he knocked out Poirier at UFC 291 on July 2023. In the most recent BMF title bout, which went down April 2024 at UFC 300, UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman, who had just recovered from saving his parents from a house fire, wrapped the belt around Holloway, who knocked out Gaethje in one of the greatest knockouts in MMA history.
