Sunny start to the new workweek
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Today will be mostly sunny, with highs staying near normal. Some Canadian wildfire smoke is making its way south, leaving us with fairly hazy sky conditions. A chance for an isolated shower is possible this afternoon, but most look to stay dry. We will have mainly clear skies tonight, with lows dipping into the 60s. High pressure will control our weather for much of the upcoming week. This will bring sunny, warm weather through Wednesday.
High temperatures will be in the 80s through midweek before the Pee Dee sees a chance for low-90s. Humidity will increase toward the end of the week as high pressure weakens. This will bring a chance for scattered late-day thunderstorms. A cold front could move into the Carolinas by Sunday, bringing a better chance for thunderstorm activity. The Carolina Country Music Fest begins later this week. The chance for scattered showers is increasing, although there will be some periods of dry time. Plan for some rain in case.

Fulton celebrates Medal of Honor hero for D-Day bravery

Fulton said as part of 'Carlton W. Barrett Day,' they honor a local hero and teach students about the sacrifices made during World War II. The day is dedicated to Carlton W. Barrett, a veteran who they said displayed extraordinary bravery during the D-Day invasion. 4 Gulf World dolphins adjust to Clearwater Marine Aquarium, 7 still await relocation
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – On Wednesday, June 4, News 13 broke the story about the four Gulf World Marine Park dolphins being relocated to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Crews arrived at Gulf World around 11 p.m. Tuesday, loaded up the animals and headed south. They arrived in Clearwater around 11 a.m. E.T. Wednesday morning. All the rough-toothed female dolphins appeared to immediately take to their new surroundings. The staff in Clearwater set benchmarks for the dolphins to gauge how they are adjusting. On Friday, June 6, they told local officials all four of the animals blew away those benchmarks and are 'thriving' in their new home. 4 Gulf World dolphins moved to Clearwater Marine Aquarium As for the seven remaining bottle-nosed dolphins still at Gulf World, local officials told News 13 they are still waiting on the results of some tissue and fluid tests done within the last week. The results will determine if the dolphins are healthy and able to be placed with other dolphins. Once they're medically clear, they'll be transferred to another facility that has yet to be confirmed. Some in the decision-making process don't want them to go to another 'Dolphin Company-owned' facility. They point to the fact that the company is currently in bankruptcy proceedings and the poor conditions at Gulf World. Five dolphins have died at Gulf World since October 2024. Neosho River flooding causes Ottawa County road closures
MIAMI, Okla. — Heavy rainfall from recent severe storms has caused the Neosho River in northeast Oklahoma to rise well above flood stage. Moderate flooding is occurring along the Neosho River in Ottawa County. The river is currently sitting at 19 feet and is expected to crest at 20 feet on Sunday (6/8). That has prompted a flood warning for Ottawa County until 9:00 a.m. Monday. However, any rain we get this weekend could cause flood waters to rise above what forecasters are predicting. Flooding around Miami has made it difficult for drivers Friday (6/6), closing Highway 125 near the fairgrounds, along with several other roads throughout Ottawa County. If you see a road covered with water, or barricades blocking a flooded road, Miami Police say it's best to just turn around. 'The fine for driving around a barricade is $560, so just be smart, be safe. We're already going to be strapped as it is with all the flooding that's going on. We have localized flooding throughout the city of Miami right now and other than South Main Street being blocked, Highway 125 being blocked, we have other areas throughout the city that are also blocked that we're dealing with. So, help us out by staying safe. Don't drive around the barricades,' said Miami Police Chief, Stephen Sigmon. Despite the flooding, the O'Reilly Auto Parts Outlaw Nationals Monster Truck Show will take place this weekend (6/6 – 6/7) at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds in Miami.
