LIDO Festival 2025 in London's Victoria Park: full list of banned items
This weekend marks the inaugural dates for LIDO festival at Victoria Park. Split across two weekends, it will play host to acts like Massive Attack, Jamie XX, and even Charli XCX. You can learn more about LIDO, and who you'll see there, here.
It's always tricky to navigate a brand new festival. Both literally – keep that park map close to hand to avoid getting lost – and more generally. What do you wear? What options are there for food? What bag can you bring? We don't have all the answers, but do know what you are and aren't allowed to bring through the gates at LIDO.
Here's everything you need to know about LIDO's bag policy, its list of banned items, and some general restrictions ahead of this Saturday's gig.
What is banned at LIDO 2025?
Like any other event, LIDO has a list of prohibited items which exists to keep everyone involved safe. Unsurprisingly, no sharps or explosives will be welcome past the gates, but there's a few more things to be aware of when you're packing your bag.
There are no chairs or stools allowed as this is a strictly 'standing event'.
Large umbrellas, such as golf umbrellas and parasols, are also prohibited.
You cannot bring any food or drink except an empty bottle into the grounds.
Oversized bags or suitcases cannot be brought into the festival.
Large cameras or professional filming equipment may be confiscated by security. According to LIDO, the general rule for this is 'if in doubt don't bring it!'.
No animals, except for assistance dogs, are welcome.
There are also several things which are banned for safety reasons. These include:
Air horns
Selfie sticks
Spray cans
Chinese lanterns
Dangerous or hazardous weapons/items
Fireworks
Flags
Gas canisters
Hand held communication devices such as radios, radio jammers/scanners
Glass (of any kind)
High-viz
Klaxons and other similar items
Laser pens
'Legal' highs as outlined by the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016
Scooters
Skateboards and bicycles
What am I allowed to bring into LIDO 2025?
That seems like a pretty long list of stuff you can't have, but it's not all bad. You're welcome to bring a picnic blanket to sit on, although you may be asked to move if you end up settling in a busy spot. You can also bring an empty reusable water bottle – there are refill stations on site – or an unopened plastic bottle of up to 500ml.
You can also bring an umbrella provided it folds up and can fit in your bag. Banners are also welcome as long as they are A1 or smaller, not made of wood, and do not come attached to flagpoles. If you're planning on bringing a banner of some sort, you can read the festival's full guidelines on them here.
Bag restrictions
You may bring a small 'over the shoulder' bag per person. It is also worth noting that there is no cloakroom on site, so whatever you bring you'll have to carry with you all day.
Are there any other restrictions at LIDO 2025?
For all acts except London Grammar, you must be at least 16 to enter. For London Grammar, that goes down to 14, but in all cases those under the age of 18 must come with an adult. Last entry is 8:30pm, and there is no re-entry: once you leave, you're out.

Massive US rock legends drop ‘clue' they're playing secret Reading and Leeds set after fans spotted gaps in line up
Fans of The Foo Fighters have been sent into a frenzy after noticing gaps in the Reading and Leeds Festival lineup poster. They believe there's a chance that the popular band could be planning a surprise appearance after noticing the festival lineup looked more sparse than in previous years. 4 4 Many keen Instagrammers believe this theory has been backed up by the band themselves, who made a throwback post this week to 2019 when they last performed at the much-loved event. "Reading Festival 2019," The Foo Fighters ' caption simply read on a video of the band performing their set six years ago. "For those of you with access to the @bbciplayer, the full 2019 Reading set is up now at the link in bio." Speculation began to snowball on the Leeds Festival Community Reddit page, with fans sharing their thoughts on the seemingly out-of-the-blue nostalgia. "OK I know this is a long shot,' one commenter began. "But foos just posted a R&L video throwback from 2019 on Instagram. Anyone else think this may be a hint of a secret/surprise set this year? "If so, do you think it will be at Reading? Or Leeds? Or both?" Though others in the group seemed less certain about the likelihood of The Foo Fighters making an appearance. "Very much confident about them not being there this year. It's been years since an absolutely huge headline band did a secret set," said one. "Less than zero chance," agreed another. Though even if The Foo Fighters are a no-show, fans are also beginning to wonder whether two other massive bands are lined up for secret sets at the festival. Reading and Leeds Festival 2025, sponsored by Rockstar Energy, is set to span over this Friday to Sunday. It's going to feature all kinds of star-studded names including Chappell Roan, Hozier, Travis Scott, and Bring Me The Horizon. The Foo Fighters have previously played at The Reading and Leeds Festival many times, including in 1995, 1998 and 2000. They headlined for the first time back in 2002, and then again in 2005, 2012, and 2019. 4 4

Reading and Leeds festival fans convinced TWO massive bands are lined up for secret sets after spotting gaps in line up
READING and Leeds Festival fans are convinced two acts have been booked for secret sets. The twin festivals, held over the same weekend, are back for 2025 with a line-up which includes Travis Scott, Bring Me the Horizon and Hozier. 5 5 The two sites will also welcome Chappell Roan, for her exclusive UK headline festival appearance. Yet eagle-eyed gig-goers are convinced a pair of rock bands will delight fans with unexpected sets across both sites. One user on Reddit quizzed: "Are secret sets still a thing?" They continued: "As title says, back when I went a few years in a row (2015-2018) secret sets were all the rage, is this still a thing? "Just looking at the schedule for Saturday and there seems to be a big gap before snow strippers on festival republic stage, also is it normal to have a break of almost an hour before the headliners on main stage?" One fan was quick to reply with a clue - and put: " Wolf Alice would be the logical one given when the album comes out." Another user agreed and put: "Good chance of this I reckon." The four-piece Brit rock band, formed in London, were created in 2010. Their fourth studio album The Clearing is due to be released tomorrow, Friday 22. Wolf Alice say Glasgow is one of their fav places to play ahead of TRNSMT gig Meanwhile, others reckon Aussie electronic rock band Pendulum could be on the line up. One wrote on the forum: "Me and a mate have been discussing Pendulum, as they're touring and also releasing their newest album on the Friday." Another posted: "They still do have secret sets, usually at least 2+ each year. Varying sized acts though." Their release, entitled Inertia, will also be released tomorrow. OFF STAGE Meanwhile, we reported how one band has confirmed they won't be able to play the festival after being unable to afford the travel costs. American rockers House of Protection had been booked to appear at the annual festival but have now been forced to change their plans owing to money issues. Taking to Instagram to confirm they had been forced to change their plans, the band wrote: "We are devastated to announce that we will no longer be performing at this year's Reading & Leeds Festivals. "Most of the funding to make this short trip possible was coming from our performance at the Heavy Music Awards, which unfortunately has been cancelled due to unforeseen and serious health issues affecting a key member of their team. "Our condolences go out to that team member during this challenging time." They continued: "We are deeply sorry to disappoint those who were excited to see us. "Unfortunately, we simply don't have the resources to make this happen at the moment. "Your support means everything to us, and we want to assure you that we are already looking forward to making it up to you in the near future (Spain as well). "This decision was not easy for us." It wasn't all bad news for fans of the band as they clarified they would be returning to the UK in October in order to tour with fellow band, Architects. 5 5
