The inaugural event on Saturday was also attended by Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Sinha congratulated the Union ministry of education and the National Book Trust for providing an opportunity to the readers to keep track of new ideas and perspectives and interact with eminent writers and scholars from across the country.
'The books open the window to the world. Books offer new ideas and fresh perspectives that change the way we perceive things and promote critical thinking. Chinar Book Festival will connect the new generation to our literary heritage and inspire them to preserve and promote our traditional wisdom left behind by our ancestors,' he said.
He also asked the writers to think about rewriting the history to correct the facts. 'New generation must be made aware that our civilization was economically prosperous and it was also the global centre of literature, science and spirituality. Ancient India was the engine of world civilization and culture. We gave the gift of science, mathematics, medicines to the world and we should be proud of our cultural, literary, scientific and spiritual heritage. We need to liberate ourselves from the colonial mindset and the new generation must be told that our heritage has been leading in the world and the gift of science that we have given to the entire humanity is incomparable,' he said.
Sinha also stressed on reviving India's ancient knowledge system and make it a part of mainstream education.
The LG also asked the National Book Trust to actively promote famous Kashmiri, Pahari, Gojri, Dogri, Urdu, and Punjabi literature at book festivals and ensure their translation into various languages to reach a wider audience.
The 9-day annual festival will provide an opportunity to the readers to keep track of new ideas and perspectives and interact with eminent writers and scholars from across the country

The discussion, titled "India's Space Program and Its Role in Viksit Bharat 2047", was aimed at highlighting the nation's scientific progress, national pride, and future security prospects. The opposition members disrupted the session by shouting slogans, demanding a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. Earlier, on Monday, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, hit out at the Opposition parties, calling it "surprising" that the opposition cannot even praise the country's achievements in space. "The opposition has failed to congratulate the space experts and scientists for our space achievements. Your anger can be with the government. Your anger can be with the BJP and the NDA. But it is surprising that you can be angry with an astronaut. And that astronaut who, apart from being an astronaut, is also a disciplined soldier of the Indian Air Force. He does not belong to any political party," Jitendra Singh said in Lok Sabha amid sloganeering by the opposition MPs. Mr Shukla, who returned to Earth on July 15 after completing NASA's Axiom-4 (AX-4) space mission, landed in the national capital in the early hours of Sunday. Mr Shukla was part of NASA's Axiom-4 Space Mission, which took off from NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, US, on June 25. He returned to Earth on July 15, splashing down off the coast of California. He became the first Indian in 41 years to travel to space.

The minister underscored the crucial role of IITs in building a self-reliant nation. He added, "I am confident that the talent, tenacity, and resolve of our youth, combined with the pursuit of self-reliance, will strengthen India's technological and economic sovereignty." In an unusual yet strategic move, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh initiated his speech on the special discussion on space from one of the back benches in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The shift was aimed at avoiding disruptions from protesting Opposition members who had crowded the front rows with placards and with a mix of wit and seriousness, Singh quipped, 'Main iss samay Antriksh mein khada hoon, aap mujh tak nahin pahunch sakte' (I am right now standing in space, you can't reach me). The remark drew laughter in the House as Opposition MPs attempted to block his view on the television screen by raising their banners higher and higher, but failed, since Singh had quietly chosen a vantage seat at the humour with an earnest appeal, the Union Minister on Monday urged Opposition MPs to set aside their protest and join the debate. 'Though you are too angry to participate in the discussion initiated by me, I still bow my head and plead: even if you are angry with the government, come forward and participate in this important discussion on Space so that the message going out to the nation is correct,' he said. Citing noted Urdu poet Ahmed Faraz, the Minister added a poetic touch to his plea: 'Kis kis ko sunaye ge judai ka sabab hum, Tu mujhse khafa hai to zamane ke liye aa,' which he paraphrased for the occasion as, 'Kis Kis ko sunaye ge iss shor-o-gul ka sabab hum; Tu mujhse khafa hai to, Subhanshu ke liye aa' (Whom shall I tell the reason for this separation?
