A Rangers Offensive Lineup That Could Be A Big Winner
Summertime is fantasy time and one of the Fischler Family's pastimes is guessing an offensive line up that Rangers coach Mike Sullivan will present on opening night.
In consultation with my hockey-savvy son Simon and equally puck-smart grandson Ariel, The Maven has produced four potential forward lines which could work.

See if you agree:
ARTEMI PANARIN-MIKA ZIBANEJAD-ALEXIS LAFRENIERE: Two out of three – Mika and Big Al – have something to prove which means that they are motivated. That's a plus right there; along with the natural talent we all know that they have. To really make this unit work, two things have to happen. Z must awaken to his defensive responsibilities, while Big Al must wake up. Period! None of this is impossible under the "New Voice" coach and with the able assistance of Breadman Panarin who'll produce no matter what.
J.T. MILLER-VINCENT TROCHECK-GABE PERREAULT: The potential here is tremendous. J.T. will thrive now that he has had a chunk of Rangers hockey under his belt and, furthermore, loves being back in a Blue shirt. Vinnie T is reliable in every way and could wind up being captain by opening night. Perreault, an amazing passer, will bring a rookie's natural energy combined with the creativity of an exceptional hockey mind. It wouldn't surprise The Maven, nor Simon, nor Ariel if this unit winds up being the club's No. 1 line by Christmas.
BRENNAN OTHMANN-WILL CUYLLE-TAYLOR RADDYSH: Every team needs a Kid Line and this one may be the Young Turks trio that the Rangers have longed for. Cuylle is my choice as the club's 2025-26 MVP and he's still growing as a player. The trick here is for Othmann to follow the Cuylle model. With plenty of ice time, Brennan should emerge as a solid scorer. Ariel foresees Taylor Raddysh – ex of Washington – as the sleeper of the bunch.
The Rangers Glass Bangers
The Rangers Glass Bangers Standing near the Zamboni entrance for many years, The Maven has become fascinated with a relatively new, rooting cult which I have named "The Rangers Glass Bangers."

ADAM EDSTROM-MATT REMPE-BRETT BERARD: Simon says that this will be the Rangers version of an Identity Line. Size and energy will be the outfit's hallmark along with a large measure of intimidation. The Skating Waterbug, Berard, should be the perfect catalyst. As long as Rempe can control his aggression and stay out of the penalty box, this fourth unit could be the very surprise envy of the league.

Twins at Rockies prediction: Odds, expert picks, starting pitchers, betting trends, and stats for July 18
It's Friday, July 18 and the Twins (47-49) are in Denver to take on the Rockies (22-74). Chris Paddack is slated to take the mound for Minnesota against Kyle Freeland for Colorado. Minnesota won its past three series against Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, and the Chicago Cubs to earn a 6-3 record in the past nine. The Twins are in a heathy spot to be completive and steal an AL Wild Card spot. Minnesota is four games back of the final postseason spot and can make ground against Colorado here. The Rockies ended the first half of the season with 22 wins, which is by far the worst in the MLB. However, Colorado did start 9-50 in the first 59 games, so 13-24 over the last 37 games is a significant improvement. Colorado is 1-5 over the last six games, so maybe the magic is wearing off. Cleveland Monsters Defenseman Samuel Knazko Signs In Czechia
Cleveland Monsters defenseman Samuel Knazko has signed a two-year deal in Czechia with HC Vitkovice, it was announced earlier this week. Knazko, a 2020 third-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets, spent this past season playing for the Monsters, collecting four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 55 regular season games. With Cleveland having made the playoffs, Knazko put up two assists in three games. Since turning pro with the Blue Jackets organization in 2022, Knazko has gotten into two NHL games but did not register a point. Over that span, he has also played in 149 career AHL regular season games, registering seven goals and 42 assists for 49 points. Prior to joining Columbus, Knazko played junior hockey in Finland, Slovakia and part of one season with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds. With Knazko heading off to Europe, it is tough to see him making the journey back to North America unless he stands a real chance at seeing NHL minutes. A tough defender to go up agianst, Knazko has the ability to make a difference at both ends of the ice and should be a good player in Czechia's top pro league.

Bears' DJ Moore discusses Caleb Williams' growth in Year 2
The connection between Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver DJ Moore in their second year together could be a big key to the team's success in 2025. The pair will be led by new head coach Ben Johnson, who has been credited for his brilliant offensive mind, and after a disappointing 2024 season, the Bears are relying on the trio to get them back to their winning ways this year. As a veteran in the league, Moore was seen as a key for Williams coming into the league. Last season, Moore had 98 receptions for 966 yards and six touchdowns. There are plenty of expectations that, with their new head coach, the Bears offense should see much more consistency and production. But in order for that to happen, Williams will have to take a big leap in his development. Last month, Moore detailed the growth he's already seen from his quarterback in the early time he's spent working with Johnson. "A lot of growth," Moore said. "You can tell he is on his A-game every day because I know he probably gets it the most out of everybody because he's the quarterback and he wants to be perfect in himself and then the staff wants him to be perfect to lead this offense." Understanding the pressure and hard coaching that will be on him with the new regime, Moore's comments show a growth in maturity from Williams. After an absolute disaster of a season with the previous coaching staff, Williams is likely starting over from scratch with the new regime. If they can get the most out of him in their first year working together, Moore could be in line to eclipse 100 or more receptions and 1,000 or more receiving yards, or even better, both.
