New Delhi:
Actor and model Shefali Jariwala died late Friday, and her last rites were performed in Mumbai on Saturday evening, with close family members and friends in attendance. Several key details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the sudden death of actress Shefali Jariwala.
According to sources, police have gathered important information based on witness statements, seized evidence and preliminary forensic inputs.
"Shefali was regularly consuming anti-ageing medicines for the last seven-eight years. There was a puja at home on June 27, due to which Shefali was fasting. Despite this, she took an injection of anti-ageing medicine in the afternoon of the same day. These medicines were advised to her by a doctor years ago, and since then she has been taking this treatment every month. So far in the police investigation, it has come to light that these medicines could be a major reason for cardiac arrest," the source told NDTV.
The timeline of events suggests that Shefali's health deteriorated between 10 and 11 PM on June 27.
The source added, "Between 10 and 11 pm, Shefali's health suddenly deteriorated. The body started trembling and she fell unconscious. She was immediately taken to the hospital. At that time, Shefali, her husband Parag, mother and some other people were present at home."
The forensic team has collected various items from the residence as part of the probe.
They continued, "The forensic team has seized a variety of medicines from the house, including anti-ageing vials, vitamin supplements and gastric pills."
As part of the ongoing investigation, statements from multiple people have been recorded.
"So far, the police have recorded the statements of 8 people in this case, including family members, domestic servants and doctors from Bellevue Hospital. The investigation has not found any signs of dispute or quarrel so far. The police and forensic team will now take further action based on the postmortem report and lab tests of the medicines," the source concluded.
The official cause of death is still awaited, and further action will depend on the postmortem findings and chemical analysis of the seized substances.
Shefali Jariwala reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at her Mumbai residence late Friday. Parag Tyagi rushed her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Visuals from outside the hospital showed Parag in tears. The family has not released an official statement yet.
Shefali first rose to fame with the 2002 music video Kaanta Laga, which became a massive hit. She later appeared in the film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, alongside Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.
In later years, she transitioned to television, participating in the dance reality show Nach Baliye with her husband Parag Tyagi, and later entering the Bigg Boss 13 house.

In a deeply disturbing case that has shocked Bengaluru residents and animal lovers alike, a woman has been accused of killing one of her three pet dogs in what appears to be a gruesome 'tantric' ritual involving alleged black magic, reported NDTV. Following the horrific act, she wrapped the dog's body in cloth, sealed the windows and doors of her home, locked up the apartment, and vanished. The crime was uncovered after residents in the building complained of a foul stench emanating from the locked flat. When officials from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) arrived and forced the door open, they discovered the decomposing body of the Labrador with a deep cut on its neck. Adding to the horror, two more dogs were found alive inside the apartment, tied tightly to a wall and left without care. 'The surviving dogs were rescued and are currently being treated at the BBMP animal hospital,' Dr Rudresh Kumar, who filed the complaint told NDTV. A post-mortem examination revealed that the slain dog had been dead for at least four days. Also Read - BESCOM announces 7-hour power outage across Bengaluru on Sunday. Shefali Jariwala's autopsy conducted; opinion about cause of death ‘reserved': Police

MUMBAI: A day after actress and television personality Shefali Jariwala was found dead at her Andheri West home, police said her post-mortem has been completed, but the cause of death remains inconclusive. Doctors at Cooper Hospital, who conducted the autopsy, have reserved their opinion pending forensic analysis, prompting the police to register an Accidental Death Report (ADR). **EDS: SCREENGRAB VIA PTI VIDEOS** Mumbai: Family members carry mortal remains of late Bollywood actor Shefali Jariwala at her residence at Andheri as they leave for her last rites, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Saturday, June 28, 2025. Jariwala, best known for her iconic single "Kaanta Laga", has passed away, a hospital source said. She was 42. (PTI Photo) (PTI06_28_2025_000186B) (PTI) The 42-year-old actress — best known for the early 2000s hit remix 'Kaanta Laga' and appearances on reality shows like Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye 5 and 7 — was reportedly unwell at home on Friday night. Her husband, television actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri around 11:15 pm, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Her body was later shifted to R N Cooper Hospital, Juhu, for post-mortem. According to police sources, Jariwala was suffering from a neurological disorder and had been taking medication. Preliminary findings suggest she may have suffered a cardiac arrest, but investigators are waiting for toxicology and histopathology reports. Blood and viscera samples have been preserved and sent to the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory for detailed analysis. Officers from Amboli police station visited the couple's residence at Golden Rays-Y building in Lokhandwala and carried out a forensic inspection. The police also questioned family members, domestic staff and neighbours. A senior officer confirmed that no foul play is suspected at this stage, though the investigation remains open until the final reports are in. 'Her father Satish was present at home when she started feeling uneasy after taking some medication. We have found several medicines at the residence and are checking them,' said an officer. Another official added, 'Preliminary information suggests a natural death. However, we are not ruling out anything until forensic reports are reviewed.' State home minister Yogesh Kadam told reporters that police would act if any complaint arises. 'As of now, we have registered an ADR,' he said. Jariwala's sudden passing sent shockwaves across the entertainment fraternity. On Saturday evening, her last rites were performed at Oshiwara Hindu crematorium, attended by family, friends, and colleagues. Her husband Parag Tyagi, father Satish Jariwala, and sister Shivani Jariwala performed the final rituals. Among those present were singers Mika Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan, actors Shehnaz Gill, Aarti Singh, Bakhtyar Irani, Mahira Sharma, Rashami Desai, Vikas Gupta, and filmmaker Ashok Pandit, along with director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. Outside her home, neighbours recounted the couple's regular walks with their pet dog. 'Parag sir came on his bike around 9 pm, and they rushed her to the hospital later,' said Shatrughan, a security guard at the building. 'He looked disturbed and was seen carrying a framed photo of her later in the night.' Jariwala rose to fame in 2002 with the chartbuster Kaanta Laga, a remix of Lata Mangeshkar's 1972 song from Samadhi. She later transitioned into television, gaining popularity through dance and reality shows. Her death, though sudden, has left behind an outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues alike.

‘Kaanta Laga' star Shefali Jariwala dies of cardiac arrest at 42

1 2 Mumbai/New Delhi: Shefali Jariwala, whose sizzling gyration and rebellious abandon in the music video of the remixed track 'Kaanta Laga' (original song from 'Samadhi', 1972) became a dance floor favourite, annoyed social conservatives and helped sell over a million cassettes, CDs and albums, passed away following a cardiac arrest on Friday night. She was 42. Jariwala was rushed to a private hospital close to her Andheri West residence by husband-actor Parag Tyagi, but was declared dead on arrival. "Her family told doctors she was unwell with acidity and had not eaten the entire day," a senior police officer told TOI. As per legal procedure, the hospital alerted the Amboli police (because the patient had not been admitted before her death), and an accidental death report (ADR) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was filed. A mobile forensic team also visited her home late Friday to collect samples for toxicological analysis. Jariwala's viscera samples have been preserved for forensic analysis. Results of the post-mortem report and the chemical analysis are expected by Sunday and are likely to provide better clarity on what exactly caused the cardiac arrest. The police officer, who spoke with the doctors, told TOI that Zariwala was taking medications for skin whitening, hormonal tablets as well as vitamins with reportedly anti-ageing properties. "Jariwala was reportedly in the habit of taking 8–9 different vitamin supplements daily," the officer said. The Amboli police confirmed that they have recorded statements from Shefali Jariwala's husband, her parents, domestic help and her cook as part of routine inquiry in an ADR case. Jariwala's death ended a career which had peaked following the super success of the 'Kaanta Laga' music video in 2003. The song accelerated the short-lived trend of sensuous music videos, many recreated from 1970s RD Burman classics, that flooded music television channels in early years of the new millennium. 'Kaanta Laga' was part of the best-selling remix album, DJ Doll. 'Kaanta Laga' was reprised in the Salman-Priyanka-Akshay starrer, 'Mujhse Shaadi Karoge' (2004) underlining the music video's eyeball-grabbing power. In the film, Shefali boogeyed with Akshay Kumar. In a telephone interview in 2003, Shefali had said that acting in the video was a turning point in her life. "I have been recognized even in Middle East countries," she said. She was an engineering student then. Her progression, thereafter, was modest. Jariwala performed in the dance show, 'Nach Baliye', in 'Bigg Boss 13', and, more recently, in the supernatural horror, 'Shaitani Rasmein' (2024), where she played a powerful female spirit, Kapalika. Incidentally, another participant of 'Bigg Boss 13', actor Sidharth Shukla, had died of a heart attack in 2021. Jariwala had a sizeable 3.4 million followers on Instagram. Last week, she had posted a reel while getting ready for a shoot to the words of athlete-turned-influencer JB Copeland, "It's time for us to start living life, like everything else is working out in our favour." Jariwala's sudden death was widely mourned on social media. Among those who posted tributes were singer Mika Singh, actors Kiku Sharda, Kamya Punjabi and All Indian Cine Workers Association.
