PredictIt Says It Can Expand Political Trades Under CFTC Deal
PredictIt, one of the original US politics-betting platforms, said it reached a new agreement with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to allow it expand its operations.
The new agreement with PredictIt, a popular site for bets on politics, allows for an unlimited number of participants to trade in each market, ditching a prior 5,000-person cap, the company said in a statement. Traders can now wager up to $3,500 rather than $850 on any single contract. The new metric is the same as the individual political campaign contribution limit, and may be adjusted with each election cycle.

In January 2020, prosecutors with the U.S. Virgin Islands filed a lawsuit against Epstein's estate, alleging a criminal enterprise took place on his property there involving the sexual abuse of young girls. "Epstein owned and arranged for private planes, helicopters, boat and automobiles to transport victims to, from and within the Virgin Islands, and provided money to pay these young women and underage girls," the lawsuit stated. Numerous girls forced into his scheme were 12 to 17 years old, the lawsuit alleged, stating local authorities last observed related events happening in 2018. A web of companies owned by Epstein, dubbed the "Epstein Enterprise" by prosecutors, "deceptively lured underage girls and women into its sex trafficking ring with money and promises of employment, career opportunities and school assistance." One 15-year-old girl tried to escape by swimming, the lawsuit states. The estate settled the case with the U.S. Virgin Islands for $105 million in December 2022. Trump has called for the release of more documents, but one federal judge in Florida has already denied the request to unseal grand jury transcripts. The backlash has also led the Department of Justice back to Epstein's ex-partner Ghislaine Maxwell for more information. She is serving a 20-year prison sentence for trafficking a minor to Epstein for sexual abuse. She spoke with DOJ officials over two days last week, and Trump has not yet ruled out a pardon. Trump and Epstein shared a friendship for years, as they were both part of the Palm Beach, Florida, community, where Mar-a-Lago is located. 'I wouldn't talk to Jeffrey Epstein because he did something that was inappropriate. … He stole people that worked for me. I said, 'Don't ever do that again.' Google Just Cut The Price Of The Pixel 9a To Its Lowest-Ever, But Not For Long
Google released its latest smartphone, the Pixel 9a, in April 2025. It was already the most affordable smartphone in the range, but Google has just announced a new price, $100 off, but only for the next two weeks. The Pixel 9a went on sale for $499 for the model with 128GB storage. It comes in four colors, peony, which is a blazing-bright pink color, iris (a sort of purple), plus two quieter shades, porcelain and obsidian (off-white and black). It came with an evolved design: the raised camera bar of the Pixel 9 series has been replaced by a pair of lenses that barely protrude at all. It has Google's Gemini AI baked in, a battery that the company claims lasts all day and seven years of updates. 13-megaixel front-facing camera. There's a 13-megapixel front-facing camera and two rear cameras, one with 48 megapixel resolution, and an ultra wide with a 13-megapixel sensor. At $499, it is priced at $300 less than the regular Pixel 9 (which costs $799) and $100 less than the Pixel 8 Pro from 2023. But right now, it's cheaper still, with the Pixel 9a with 128GB storage available with $100 off, dropping the price to $399. This price is available direct from Google from its store in the U.S. This offer is only available for two weeks, that is, until Aug. 17, 2025 at 11.59 Pacific. You could choose the model with more storage, 256GB, which has also dropped in price and is available for as long as the offer runs for $499 instead of $599. Again, Google has all four colors available at this storage level, too. This reduced price, which represents 20% off the 128GB model and 17% off the 256GB version, is also available from Amazon, which has all four colors for the smaller storage capacity, and obsidian and iris for the larger-capacity model.
