TBI: Nine arrested in connection with Hendersonville human trafficking investigation
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities arrested nine people in connection with a Hendersonville human trafficking investigation.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's human trafficking unit, in conjunction with the Hendersonville Police Department, the Sumner County Sheriff's Office, members of the 18th Judicial Drug Task Force and authorities with Homeland Security Investigations conducted an undercover operation aimed at addressing human trafficking in the area.
As part of the investigation, which happened this weekend, officers placed decoy advertisements on websites in an attempt to identify individuals looking to engage in commercial sex acts with minors.
Those arrested were:
Vincent Billingsley of Memphis, who was charged with one count of promoting prostitution and one count of simple possession of a Schedule VI drug
Steven Cannon of Charlotte, who was charged with one count of promoting prostitution
Jerry Delp of Westmoreland, who was charged with one count of patronizing prostitution of a minor
Morgan Garrett of Cordova, who was charged with one count of promoting prostitution
James Jones of Gallatin, who was charged with one count of solicitation of a minor and one count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor
Trinity Knutson of Conway, Arkansas, who was charged with one count of prostitution
Carlynn McIntosh of Goodlettsville, who was charged with one count of prostitution
Druce Phillips of Nashville, who was charged with two counts of patronizing prostitution from a minor
Machicol Rivas of Nashville, who was charged with one count of promoting prostitution

In addition to the nine arrests, two potential victims of human trafficking were identified. Authorities said those people were offered resources through victim service organizations Thistle Farms and AncoraTN.

Cyclist transported to Nashville hospital via helicopter after crash in Clarksville
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — All northbound lanes of one Clarksville roadway reopened after a brief closure while police continue to investigate a crash involving a cyclist. At about 3:53 p.m. Tuesday, a truck collided with a bicyclist on the Highway 76 Connector near New South Drive. Police said that the bicyclist has been transported to a Nashville-area hospital via LifeFlight helicopter and their condition is not known at this time. Community remembers woman killed while walking dog in Germantown
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Community members are mourning the loss of a woman killed while walking along a crosswalk in Germantown Sunday evening. The community is mourning the loss of Dorothy 'Dot' Dobbins, who was killed by a driver while walking on a 3rd Avenue North crosswalk Sunday evening. On Tuesday afternoon, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure installed new pedestrian placards reminding drivers to yield to pedestrians. ORIGINAL STORY: Woman dead after being hit by vehicle while walking dog in Germantown 'A bunch of us reacted this morning to a report in the paper that described her as an elderly, old woman. That was not Dot Dobbins,' longtime friend and colleague Irwin Venick said. 'Dot was 77 years old, but she was active and engaged in work that she loved.' Venick met Dobbins at Vanderbilt Law School in 1971. She would go on to have a respected career in family law, and also join the local Lawyers' Association for Women. She was best known for her work as part of the the Alternatives to Violence Project. 'She's traveled the world. She's engaged with all sorts of groups encouraging people to talk, to engage [and] to reduce violence in their lives,' Venick said. 'So between that, her family, and Germantown Commons, and Quaker meetings, she has had a very active and full life.' Perhaps drivers taking a more 'peaceful' approach as they cross is a small part of the bigger legacy Dobbins leaves behind. DUI suspect charged following multiple hit-and-run crashes in La Vergne
LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is facing several charges following multiple hit-and-run crashes that took place over the weekend in La Vergne, officials said. The La Vergne Police Department said officers spotted a neon green Dodge Charger involved in multiple hit-and-run crashes just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 8. La Vergne Police Department launches first-ever drone team According to authorities, the Charger fled from Murfreesboro Road and crashed again on W. Nir Shreibman Boulevard. The driver—identified as Jose Ordonez-Lopez—was reportedly found injured with open alcohol containers in the vehicle. Police said Ordonez-Lopez was taken into custody and later admitted to drinking and causing the crashes. At least one person involved in the crash was hospitalized, officials said. 'We will not tolerate reckless drivers endangering lives in our city. Thank you to our officers for their swift, professional response in protecting our community,' the police department wrote in a release about the arrest. Ordonez-Lopez was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and failure to give notice of an accident. No additional information was released.
