Rebel's Romance and Loughnane rock in Germany
Keen to keep things simple Rebel's Romance was up with the pace throughout the early stages, keeping close tabs on Andre Fabre's Junko and when straightening for home he showed his class to bravely hold off the French challenger.
It was in fact a fourth Group One success on German soil for the well-travelled dual Breeders' Cup Turf hero who could return to Del Mar for another crack at the season-ending showpiece, with Coral making him the 5-1 co second-favourite for a third Stateside victory.
Appleby said: 'It's great for Billy, but more importantly great for the horse who keeps sparkling on all continents.
'To have him carry on at the top level is fantastic for Sheikh Mohammed and I see this as a pre-cursor for the Canadian International at Woodbine and then the Breeders' Cup.'
Loughnane has ridden eight winners from 12 rides for Appleby this season and it is fitting his first success at the top table comes in Germany, having notched his first Group-race triumph at Cologne in April last year.
It caps a memorable weekend for his teenage pilot who also won the Sweet Solera Stakes in the royal blue of Appleby and Godolphin aboard Dance To The Music at Newmarket on Saturday.
Loughnane told Wettstar: 'This is a feeling I can't describe, it's a feeling of ecstasy, what a horse and I'm very lucky to be riding in these colours and riding a horse like this.
'He's a star of a horse and has been going for a good few seasons now. Big thanks go to William Buick and I spoke to him last night and he told me exactly what to do. He's a superstar.'

The Red Devils have also been linked with a move for PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who announced his acrimonious exit from the French champions on Wednesday after being shunned by Luis Enrique. Donnarumma could well join City instead but United have also been linked with other big-money moves, including for Emiliano Martinez and Adam Wharton. The two potential incomings were discussed on the return of The Overlap's Rest is Football podcast, as Keane took aim at United's possible further expenditure. "If United were to get him [Donnarumma] and there's talk of Baleba from Brighton which I can't believe," Gary Neville began saying. After the Irishman asked how United would get the money to pay for Donnarumma and Baleba, Jamie Carragher piped in and said: "I thought they were going bankrupt. They were months away from going bust weren't they?" The Liverpool legend referenced Ratcliffe's claim earlier this year, where he said the club would have run out of money by Christmas this year if he hadn't introduced several rounds of redundancies and cut back on staff meals to save money. "Manchester United would have run out of cash by the end of this year - by the end of 2025 - after having me put £232.72m ($300m) in and if we buy no new players in the summer, he told the BBC."We are in the process of change and it's an uncomfortable period and disruptive and I do feel sympathy with the fans. "The simple answer is the club runs out of money at Christmas if we don't do those things." In jest, Keane responded with: "Are the staff gonna get their sandwiches back?" It was in February that it was announced that free lunches for staff at Old Trafford and Carrington were removed, as well as the closure of the staff canteen at the stadium. While Keane said United's struggling midfield will receive some respite due to the ability of the new attackers to be on the front foot, it remains an issue for Amorim. The ex-United skipper said: "There's slightly less pressure on their midfield, don't get me wrong, but that will be the problem that'll still hold them back over the next year or two unless they bring in players. "But they have to start somewhere. They weren't going to bring seven or eight players." When asked by Neville whether he believes they could pull off a move for Baleba, Keane said there's one main reason a deal won't be done. "I'd be surprised if it happens," he said. "I still think he's got to do a bit more. It's still potential. You can't pay £100m for a player that you don't know where it's going to go." Amorim's new-look United attack will face an immediate acid test as the Red Devils' campaign commences on Sunday when they host Arsenal.

Italy keeper Donnarumma helped PSG to a maiden Champions League title last season, but eyebrows were raised when the French club signed Chevalier this summer in a big-money transfer. Jason Hart joins 1,000-winner club at Beverley
Hart, brought up in Hewick, has built up a good partnership with John and Sean Quinn in Malton and partnered Highfield Princess to four Group One wins for the yard. Fellow Scot Mark Johnston handed him his first job but he credits Eric Alston for giving him his big breakthrough on Ridge Ranger, who won a Listed race and Group Three under Hart in 2016. 'It's a nice milestone to get to,' Hart told Racing TV. 'I started off with Mark Johnston and had a great grounding there where you had a great work ethic instilled into you, then I moved to Declan Carroll and even more of a work ethic is instilled into you there. 'I've had great support from John Quinn and Eric Alston as well, Eric was the one who got me going and put me on a better class of horse. 'My agent said when I get to 100 winners this year it was 1,000 for Great Britain, but I'd actually had a few abroad so that was 1000 worldwide. I've a few more to go for 1000 in Britain on its own but I'm really happy. 'Highfield Princess is the best I've ridden but with a bit of luck Jm Jungle has a chance in the Nunthorpe next week. He's bounced out of his Goodwood win well.'
