WhatsApp launches long-awaited iPad app
WhatsApp is officially available on iPad, Meta announced on Tuesday. The new iPad app allows you to make video and audio calls with up to 32 people, share your screen, and use both front and back cameras. Up until now, if you wanted to use WhatsApp on your iPad, you had to use the web version in a browser.
The company says users will be able to take advantage of iPadOS multitasking features, such as Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over. These features will allow users to do things like view multiple apps at once, send messages while browsing the web, or research options for a group trip while on a call together. On mobile, you would have to switch away from WhatsApp when doing these sorts of things.
The new iPad app also works with your Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, WhatsApp says.
With this new app, users will be able to keep everything in sync across their iPhone, Mac, and other devices. Personal messages, calls, and media will still be protected with WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption.
The launch of the dedicated iPad app doesn't come as a complete surprise, as Meta's WhatsApp account on X (formerly Twitter) teased the news yesterday with a subtle tweet.
It's worth noting that Instagram, one of Meta's other apps, is reportedly working on an iPad app as well.
The dedicated iPad app is now available to download on the App Store.

Why Meta Platforms Stock Jumped 18% in May
Meta jumped on a strong earnings report and a thaw in U.S. and China tensions. The social media giant may also be benefiting from trouble at Alphabet. Barring a recession, the stock looks well positioned for more gains. 10 stocks we like better than Meta Platforms › Shares of Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) were moving higher last month after the social media giant jumped on a better-than-expected earnings report, and the stock gained again in the second week of May on news of a detente in the trade war between the U.S. and China. According to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, the stock finished the month up 18%. As you can see from the chart below, the stock jumped early in the month following its earnings report and tacked on gains from there. After sliding in April on concerns around the trade war, Meta delivered a solid rebound thanks to impressive first-quarter results and hopes that the impact of the trade war would be more modest than previously expected. Meta stock gained 4.2% on May 1 and 4.4% the following day after its Q1 earnings report came in above expectations. Revenue in Q1 rose 16% to $42.3 billion, ahead of estimates at $41.4 billion. The company reported growth in users, ad impressions, and average price per ad, driving the strong growth in revenue, and its margins continued to improve, lifting its earnings per share (EPS) up 37% to $6.43, which easily beat the consensus at $5.22. Meta's guidance was also promising as the company forecast revenue of $42.5 billion to $45.5 billion in Q2 and lowered its full-year expense guidance by $1 billion. The other significant event lifting the stock was the broader surge in the market on May 12 after the U.S. and China agreed to temporarily lower tariff rates. Meta, which is seen as a macroeconomically sensitive stock due to its dependence on digital advertising, gained 8% on May 12 on that news, and it closed out the month 1% higher as it traded mostly sideways over the remainder of May. Another issue that may have impacted the stock last month is pressure on rival Alphabet, which has been accused of operating a monopoly in two different businesses. Last month, the stock fell on news that Apple was considering offering AI search engines like Perplexity on its devices as an alternative to Google. Meta should benefit from any weakness at Alphabet as the two compete for digital advertising spending and in AI. While a weakening economy would present a challenge to the company, based on its Q2 guidance and the strength of Meta AI, the stock looks well positioned to keep gaining. Pusha T On Current Relationship With Ye: 'I Don't Think He's A Man'
Clipse is gearing up for their first group release in over a decade with upcoming album, Let God Sort 'Em Out. During a promo discussion with GQ, Pusha T opened up about the state of his relationship with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, after their business and personal relationship crumbled in late 2022. The interview comes days after Ye took to Twitter/X to declare, 'I miss me and Pusha's friendship.' According to Push, however, that won't be enough to bring the former collaborators back together. He starts by saying that his and Ye's friendship began to unravel long before the producer's 2022 anti-semitic rants put the nail in the coffin, admitting that, 'the last few months or years of his time with Kanye were him 'playing the industry game' more than anything.' 'I realized at certain points that I was really alone in everything that was going on as far as rap drama, so on and so forth,' Push shared. The rapper previously stated on The Joe Budden Podcast that Ye was iffy with his support of Pusha T in his battle with Drake. Push added that the energy within Ye's camp became concerning at one point. 'I'm in a collective of a lot of individuals. Everybody's working, but I really got sh*t to do, and I leave and it's one energy, and then when I come back, the energy's off. And then you hear about the sidebar conversations. You got your homeboy who coming up to you like, 'Yo, they was saying this when you left.' I'm thinking that we all in this collectively getting busy. But in all actuality, everybody had their own agendas. And I feel like I was the only one who didn't. My agenda was for the squad. So from that point on, I just looked at everybody differently, and I looked at it as, We're just going to make music. We're going to get beats. We're going to write some raps. And we going to keep it moving.' The Virginia MC added of Ye's most recent rant against him, 'It's like, bro, you've been mentioning me, screaming about me… you got every soul believing that I've done such a great injustice to you. And that's a lie. He goes on his rants. The one thing that I can say about him is that he knows that every issue that he's having and crying about online right now, I've told him distinctly about those things, distinctly. So when he gets up there and with his KKK mask and he's screaming behind it like a pro wrestler—he got to scream behind a mask. He don't talk to me like he talks to others. 'We made some great sh*t, bro. We did,' Pusha acknowledged. 'But…let me tell you something. He's a genius. And his intuition is even more genius level, right? But that's why me and him don't get along, because he sees through my fakeness with him. He knows I don't think he's a man. He knows it. And that's why we can't build with each other no more. That's why me and him don't click, because he knows what I really, really think of him. He's showed me the weakest sides of him, and he knows how I think of weak people.' Pusha was also able to acknowledge some good Ye has done, sharing, 'The greatest thing he did and why I am okay with where me and him are right now—and I'm cool with staying that way—is because at the end of the day, my truth is my truth, but I still respect what he did in the business.
