File complaints against aggressors to get them imprisoned, SP tells women
In a statement, Mr. Silambarasan said Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act had been enacted to save the women from harassment, stalking etc. As per the amendment made in Section 7 C of this Act, the Revenue Divisional Officers could proclaim orders to imprison the aggressors for saving the women.
As complaints from the victims were received by the Station House Officers of Suththamalli, Seethaparpanallur and Sivanthipatti police stations, RDO, Tirunelveli, has invoked this Act against 3 persons under Suththamalli police station limits, 1 each under Seethaparpanallur and Sivanthipatti police station limits.
When this order is in vogue, the aggressors can be awarded three years of imprisonment and slapped with the fine up to ₹1 lakh if they are found to be stalking, threatening, following and disturbing women directly or through electronic devices.
Hence, the women, who are facing harassment or getting threats, should file complaints with the police station concerned to get legal protection, Mr. Silambarasan said.

Two awarded life term for 2022 murder of Dalit youth in Ambedkar Nagar
Lucknow: A court in Ambedkar Nagar on Saturday sentenced two men to life imprisonment for axing a 28-year-old Dalit youth to death in 2022. Special judge Ram Vilas Singh convicted the duo under IPC's sections 302 (murder) and 34 (liability in criminal act) and section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each. Special public prosecutor Sudip Mishra told TOI that the incident occurred in Gaya Ghat Pipri village under the Alapur police station area on the night of July 31, 2022. According to the FIR filed by Ramvriksha, the incident unfolded after former village pradhan Ranu Tiwari visited his younger brother Jalandhar, an electrician, to request a repair. Jalandhar agreed to do the work the following morning and subsequently left for the nearby Khajhapur. Around midnight, his wife heard noises and alerted the family. "When Ramvriksha tried calling up Jalandhar, the phone was answered by an unknown person who told them to come to the fields. Upon reaching, the family found Jalandhar lying severely injured. He was rushed to the govt hospital in Baskhari and then referred to the district hospital in Akbarpur, where he died during treatment," said Mishra. During the investigation, the police collected testimonies, scene maps, postmortem reports, call detail records, and video evidence. A charge sheet was filed, and the case was tried in the special SC/ST court. Hearing the case, the special judge found both the accused guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. "Despite the defence's plea that the accused were first-time offenders and came from impoverished backgrounds, the court sided with the prosecution, which highlighted the caste-based nature of the crime and the gravity of the offence. While the defence argued that there were no eyewitnesses and the case was a result of village enmity, the court held that the evidence — including the victim's dying statement, witness testimonies, and supporting forensic materials — was consistent and credible," the special public prosecutor said. "The judge concluded that the crime was intentional, caste-motivated, and brutal in nature," Mishra said. Cops Bust Armed Robbers' Gang, Seize Valuables Worth Rs 8 Lakh
Nagpur: In a swift operation, Nagpur Rural Police dismantled an armed robbery gang, arresting five suspects and recovering materials worth Rs8 lakh within four hours of two reported armed robberies. The accused, involved in armed robberies in Butibori and MIDC Butibori, were apprehended in Wardha district following a coordinated effort led by Superintendent of Police Harsah A Poddar, Additional SP Anil Mgaske, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Deepak Agarwal. The first incident occurred on Saturday at 1.45 pm near a bank in Butibori, where Vishal Ninave was robbed of Rs15,000 at knifepoint by three unidentified men in a red Swift car. A second robbery took place shortly after, between 2.10 pm and 2.15 pm, at a liquor shop in Takalghat, where Prabhakar Vasad lost Rs15,000 in cash and an iPhone 12 worth Rs40,000. Using informant network and technical evidence, police teams from Butibori, MIDC Butibori, and Local Crime Branch, with assistance from Wardha Police, tracked the suspects to Jama Masjid Chowk, Wardha. Six techies held for abusing drugs at Medipally farmhouse
Hyderabad: Six information technology (IT) professionals were arrested by prohibition & excise sleuths for allegedly being in possession of drugs at a birthday party at a farmhouse in Medipally village in Shankarpally on Saturday night. They also seized 0.05 grams LSD blots, hashish oil, a scotch bottle and three cars — BMW, Jeep and Datsun Go — from their possession. The arrested accused were identified as Abhijith Banerjee, Simpson, Parthu, Goyal, Yashwanth Reddy and Sevio Dennis. Excise officials said the six friends, who at various points of time worked for a prominent MNC in the city, reached the farmhouse on Saturday . "We already had a tip-off that a few persons were planning to gather and abuse drugs at the farmhouse. Around 2am on Sunday, the searches were done and the drugs were seized and the accused were put to test. All the five tested positive for drugs" the officials said.
