Caviar launches Om and Medina inspired iPhone 16 Pro models made of 24-carat gold, garnets

Luxury brand Caviar has unveiled its latest collection, transforming Apple's new iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models into limited-edition pieces of spiritual art. The Dubai-based company's Spiritual Heritage Collection features three new ultra-premium designs – Reverence, Medina, and Om – blending sacred traditions with opulent craftsmanship.
Each model draws inspiration from different spiritual and cultural motifs, crafted using high-end materials such as 24-carat gold, garnets, and fine enamel. As expected from Caviar, these designs are not merely phones but luxury statements, with prices starting at $8,340.
The Reverence edition presents a bold aesthetic in black and silver, featuring ornate enamel work atop a geometric titanium medallion. Echoing Islamic artistic traditions, the repeated patterns symbolise harmony and infinity, while the stark contrast between silver and matte black lends it the aura of a futuristic relic.
The Medina variant honours Middle Eastern Islamic art and architecture, boasting a sculpted gold relief framed by a botanical pattern and accented with turquoise composite stone. Designed for those who value cultural symbolism and intricate craftsmanship, it offers a strong connection to spiritual and artistic heritage.
Meanwhile, the Om edition draws from Buddhist and Hindu traditions, centring on themes of balance and mindfulness. It features an orange 'Om' symbol surrounded by a three-dimensional lotus design, set with 32 tiny garnets embedded into a silver titanium backplate. Inspired by meditation and inner clarity, it delivers a serene and introspective aesthetic.
The Spiritual Heritage Collection forms part of Caviar's wider Credo series, which also includes luxury designs inspired by Christian and Jewish iconography, such as the St. Peter's Basilica, Mogen David, and Cathedral of Christ the Saviour editions.
The new models are available now, with prices ranging from $8,340 for the Reverence edition to $9,630 for special designs such as St. Peter's Basilica. The Medina edition is priced at $8,910, while OM costs $9,200.
Earlier this year, Caviar also launched a $100,000 iPhone 16 Pro Max inspired by Notre Dame Cathedral, as well as an ultra-luxury Valentine's Day collection featuring custom-designed iPhones.

Apple forms new "Answers" team to build ChatGPT rival, after CEO Tim Cook says company 'rarely been…"

Apple has quietly established a new internal team called "Answers, Knowledge and Information" (AKI) that is developing a ChatGPT-like search experience, according to Bloomberg. The team is building what it calls an "answer engine" capable of crawling the web to respond to general-knowledge questions, potentially offering Apple's first serious challenge to existing AI chatbots. When Apple introduced its AI platform last year, executives made clear there wouldn't be an in-house chatbot, instead partnering with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri. Since then, Apple's software and marketing leaders have argued that consumer interest in chatbots is limited, with some AI group leaders expressing skepticism about ChatGPT-style tools altogether, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports. However, the reality that these products serve hundreds of millions globally for tasks ranging from math and spreadsheets to simple search has apparently prompted the company's change of direction. The AKI team, led by senior director Robby Walker under AI chief John Giannandrea, is exploring both a standalone app and new backend infrastructure to power search capabilities in future versions of Siri, Spotlight, and Safari. Apple has begun advertising job openings specifically seeking candidates with experience in search algorithms and engine development. Apple CEO Tim Cook rallies employees around AI investment strategy At a rare all-hands meeting last week, CEO Tim Cook told employees that Apple "must do this" and "will make the investment to do it," calling the AI revolution "as big or bigger" than the internet, smartphones, and cloud computing. Cook acknowledged Apple's typical approach of entering markets later but creating defining products, telling staff: "We've rarely been first. There was a PC before the Mac; there was a smartphone before the iPhone... This is how I feel about AI." The move comes as Apple faces pressure on multiple fronts. The company's $20 billion annual deal with Google for default search could be disrupted by antitrust action, while Apple Intelligence currently lacks the conversational search capabilities available from ChatGPT or Google's Gemini. Software heads details Siri overhaul delay Software chief Craig Federighi addressed the company's delayed Siri upgrade during the meeting, explaining that Apple initially planned a "hybrid architecture" combining current Siri capabilities with large language models. "We realized that approach wasn't going to get us to Apple quality," Federighi said, according to Bloomberg. Instead, Apple is now developing an entirely new architecture for all of Siri's capabilities, with Vision Pro creator Mike Rockwell and his team taking charge of the assistant's development. The revamped Siri is expected as early as spring 2026. The Answers team is Apple's most concrete step toward competing directly with ChatGPT, potentially offering users AI-powered search without relying on external partnerships like its current ChatGPT integration. Soon, Truecaller to shut down call recording feature on iPhone app: Details

Truecaller is pulling the plug on its call-recording feature for iPhone users starting September 30. The feature, which was introduced just over two years ago for paid subscribers, will no longer be available as the company looks to shift focus back to its core spam-blocking services, according to a report by TechCrunch. Users who have existing call recordings can still access their saved files. Truecaller says users can download them locally, share them via email or messaging apps, or choose to store them in iCloud to retain access after the feature is shut down. A support page has also been set up to assist with the transition. Why is Truecaller shutting down call recording on iPhones? In a statement to TechCrunch, Truecaller's head of iOS, Nakul Kabra, said the decision to discontinue call recording was part of a broader strategy to prioritise features like Live Caller ID and automatic spam blocking — particularly on iOS, where third-party apps face more restrictions. Unlike Android, where call recording can be implemented directly, Apple's operating system does not allow native access to phone audio. To work around this, Truecaller relied on a more complex 'recording line' system, which merges calls to enable recording. This approach adds both cost and technical overhead. Kabra said these constraints made continuing the feature unsustainable. Another factor influencing the decision is Apple's move to offer similar capabilities natively. With iOS 18.1, Apple introduced built-in call recording and transcription for iPhone users. Unlike Truecaller's method, Apple's solution does not require call merging and uses Apple Intelligence on eligible iPhones to generate transcriptions that are saved directly to the Notes app. With the latest iOS 26 update, Apple has gone a step further by adding Live Call Translation, expanding its set of AI-powered communication tools and reducing the need for third-party alternatives.
