Social development ministry launches ‘Ayadi' volunteer work platform
The platform will establish a unified database and statistics on volunteer work and volunteers in the Sultanate of Oman.
The event was held under the patronage of Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat.
'Ayadi' is the first digital platform dedicated to enhancing and organizing the values of volunteer work in Oman. It aligns with the 'Oman 2040' vision under the priority of well-being and social protection, which focuses on creating an enabling environment for social responsibility programs and voluntary contributions.
The platform will provide diverse volunteer opportunities that promote positive participation, a sense of belonging, and community solidarity, thereby supporting national goals of building an empowered society that actively contributes to shaping development pathways.
The launch ceremony witnessed the introduction of the first three initiatives on the platform. Sohar Port and Freezone announced the launch of the 'Our Sea, Our Responsibility' initiative, which aims to enhance community responsibility and environmental awareness to preserve coastal ecosystems and support marine resource sustainability. The initiative targets around 200 volunteers.
The Oman Design Association introduced the 'Oman Design Week' initiative to engage Omani youth in organizing an annual event celebrating design and promoting Oman's cultural identity, with the participation of about 10 volunteers.
Meanwhile, Salalah Volunteer Team's initiative, 'Hands of Good,' focuses on environmental and community efforts in the rugged mountainous areas of Dhofar.
It aims to open mountain roads and trails, clean water channels, and natural springs, improving the lives of local residents and their living environment.

Labour Ministry announces over 1000 job opportunities
Muscat: The Ministry of Labour, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and accredited universities, has announced the availability of 1,000 opportunities to obtain an "Educational Qualification Diploma." This initiative aims to prepare candidates to later compete for the post of a teacher at the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Labour clarified that applicants must meet the following conditions: Be an Omani national (male), hold a bachelor's degree from a higher education institution inside or outside Oman, obtained through full-time study, have a graduation GPA of at least 2.3 out of 4.0 or its equivalent in other grading systems, for degrees obtained outside Oman, the bachelor's certificate must be accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, with no fewer than 60 credit hours for humanities and individual skills majors or 45 credit hours for applied disciplines (as per Appendix A). The conditions also state that applicants must pass the specialized subject test, be medically fit for the teaching profession, be registered as a job seeker in the Ministry of Laborur's system and haven't previously received government-funded training. The ministry confirmed that the programme will be fully funded by the government, with trainees receiving a monthly allowance of OMR120 for nine months under a training contract. The programme will last one academic year (two semesters) and includes practical training (teaching practice) in Omani schools. Study will be conducted on a full-time basis, with the diploma requiring no fewer than 30 credit hours or their equivalent.

National Museum Learning Centre at Al Mouj benefits more than 3,600 users
Muscat: The Learning Centre at Al Mouj Muscat, affiliated with the National Museum, represents a strategic step towards expanding community outreach and enhancing the museum's cultural presence outside its headquarters. The Learning Centre constitutes an advanced model in the field of 'museum education' and the development of vibrant cultural environments capable of responding to the aspirations of individuals and strengthening their connection to the cultural heritage of the Sultanate of Oman. The centre's programmes are in line with the Sultanate of Oman's vision to make culture an integral part of comprehensive development. Besides helping citizens become more associated with their cultural roots, the centre also makes users open to the global community, by utilising interactive methods inspired by the museum's collections. The exhibits are designed to combine education, art and entertainment to meet the needs of diverse segments of the local community and international visitors alike. Amina Abdullah Al Abri, Head of the Learning Centre Department, said that the centre provides an exceptional educational experience for visitors of different nationalities. To expand the volume of target audience, the Learning Centre hosts a variety of activities and programmes, including art workshops for adults, training sessions for students from university and college and theatrical performances for children, said Amina, noting that the educational and cultural experience offered by the Learning Centre meets the expectations of families and other community members. As many as 3,657 users benefited from the activities and programmes of the Learning Centre's branch at Al Mouj Muscat, since the centre's establishment in 2023 until the end of July 2025.

Al Dhahirah Governorate to construct 18 groundwater recharge dams
Ibri: Acting in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, citizens in wilayats of Al Dhahirah Governorate joined hands in the construction of 18 groundwater recharge dams as part of a community partnership project. The project aims to boost groundwater reserves and ensure the sustainability of water resources for future generations. The step reflects the growing trend of community awareness about the importance of community-enhanced management of water resources. The dams' construction was funded by local citizens and the Ministry in a gesture that embodied the success of integrated efforts in the field of water resources management. Eng. Mubarak Salim Al Jabri, Director of the Water Resources Department in Al Dhahirah Governorate, said that work is currently underway to construct 7 new groundwater recharge dams as part of the community partnership initiative, as follows: 3 dams in the wilayat of Ibri, 3 dams in the wilayat of Yanqul and 1 dam in the wilayat of Dhank. The ministry contributes 20 percent of the cost of the project, while the citizens bear the remaining 80 percent. Al Jabri told Oman News Agency (ONA) that dams are a key element in improving water supply in wells and aflaj, and this helps raise agricultural productivity and provide water in a sustainable manner for the community. Al Jabri added that this year also saw the completion of maintenance of 8 existing dams in Al Dhahirah Governorate. Al Jabri said that Al Dhahirah Governorate has 36 dams ('groundwater recharge dams' and 'flood protection dams'):18 are government dams and 18 are community partnerships-based dams. He pointed out that these dams represent a fundamental pillar in supporting the infrastructure of water security and water resources. The dams achieve sustainable agricultural development in the governorate's various wilayats, he explained.
