Fugro cuts outlook and US jobs, cites pause in wind projects
The company, which provides geotechnical, survey, subsea and geosciences services, said it has already divested assets and cut more than 100 jobs in the United States because of deteriorating market environment, group CEO Mark Heine told reporters.

"The shift in the U.S. political landscape has led to a pause in new offshore wind projects. Furthermore, the highly volatile market environment is now impacting Fugro's business in other regions as well," the company said in a statement.
"We see some scope reductions of projects and award decisions taking longer, exacerbating the typically slow start to the year," it said.

Aug 14 (Reuters) - Dutch payments firm Adyen ( opens new tab cut its annual revenue forecast on Thursday, citing the impact of U.S. tariffs on client growth and a sustained slowdown in market volume, sending its shares down around 20%. The company also said the previously anticipated slight acceleration in net revenue growth now appeared "unlikely". Adyen has weathered shifts in consumer spending better than peers like Worldline and Nexi, thanks to a broader client base and global reach. But that international exposure also leaves it vulnerable to currency volatility and trade tensions. "The part that we see going less well, also compared to our expectations at the end of coming into this year, is what we call market volume growth, so the growth of our own customers," finance chief Ethan Tandowsky said in an interview with Reuters. "Specifically, we've called out a group of large online retailers that are APAC headquartered," he said. The company's half-year net revenue missed market expectations despite a 20% yearly rise, standing at 1.09 billion euros ($1.27 billion) against the 1.11 billion expected by 16 analysts polled by LSEG. Adyen's half-year earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) also missed estimates, coming in at 543.7 million euros, with a margin of 50%. Analysts forecast around 550.8 million euros on average. KBC Securities analysts said in a note the semester was "underwhelming" and to expect pressure on the company's shares in light of the results. "We expect EBITDA margin to expand in 2025, albeit at a more moderate rate than in 2024," Adyen added in a statement. Adyen is still aiming for an annual net revenue growth between the low-twenties and high-twenties percent, up to and including 2026. Shares were down 18.7% by 0736 GMT after falling as much as 20.5% earlier. ($1 = 0.8549 euros)

Chelsea's latest swap deal offer to sign Xavi Simons in the summer transfer window has been rejected by RB Leipzig, according to reports. The Blues offered €40m (£34.5m) plus Christopher Nkunku for the 22-year-old Netherlands international – one of Enzo Maresca's top targets. While Leipzig view their former star Nkunku as an interesting player, they are not willing to consider bringing him back as part of a deal for Simons. German outlet BILD reports that Bundesliga side Leipzig rejected Chelsea's offer because Nkunku 'no longer fits into their salary structure'. It is also understood that Nkunku – said to be earning €20m (£17.2m) per year at Stamford Bridge – is not keen on a second stint at his old club. Chelsea are now set to go back to the drawing board as negotiations continue to bring Simons to west London before the window closes. Leipzig want €70m (£60.4m) for Simons, who has conjured up 21 goals and 23 assists across 76 games for the German club to date. Simons, who plays as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea – and a move seems likely as the new Premier League season looms. Manchester City have reportedly launched an attempt to hijack the deal but it's thought that Simons would prefer to join the Blues this summer. Chelsea have already signed a number of players this summer, including Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jorrel Hato, Estevao Willian, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez. Dutch coach Rene Meulensteen believes Simons would thrive at Chelsea if he becomes their latest signing. 'He's a good dribbler, versatile and has cut his teeth with PSV and RB Leipzig, performing well in the Bundesliga. 'The Premier League is a step up, but you would expect playing for Chelsea or another top six side that the team would dominate most games they play – and that would suit Simons. And Leipzig would not be able to match Nkunku's current wages at Stamford Bridge, which reports in Germany claim could be as high as £17million per year. The Frenchman's actual salary is believed to be considerably lower yet still beyond Leipzig's budget.
