AC Milan have made Kyle Walker transfer call after injury-hit Man City loan
Manchester City and England star Kyle Walker has spent the second half of the season on loan at AC Milan and the Rossoneri have yet to confirm whether he'll extend his stay
AC Milan have decided they want Kyle Walker to stay at the San Siro, it has been claimed. The Manchester City has spent the second half of the season on loan in Italy, but questions had remained over his longer-term future.
The 34-year-old has one more year on his City contract, and found himself on the fringes under Pep Guardiola in the first half of the campaign. He has been a regular starter for the Rossoneri when fit, though he has been eased back in of late following a broken arm.
According to reports in Italy (via Sport Witness), Milan believe a bid of £3million will be enough for the England star. City added to their right-back options in January, with £34m man Abdukodir Khusanov alternating between the right and the middle of the back four, and Walker appears surplus to requirements.
It's a different story in Serie A, though, where Walker has played 11 times. He also started both legs of Milan's Champions League knockout play-off against Feyenoord and played the full 90 in two Coppa Italia games - with Sergio Conceicao's team to take on Bologna in the final.
The loan move also allowed him to prove to England boss Thomas Tuchel that he can still contribute for the Three Lions. Tuchel gave Walker minutes in both the March internationals, confirming every player called up was in with a chance of playing at next summer's World Cup.
The optimism comes despite Walker appearing to leave the door open for a City return during an April edition of The Kyle Walker Podcast. "After I said my goodbyes, Pep got up and spoke and said a really nice message to me, just saying thank you for everything," he said.
"But, listen, it's not over. I'm just on loan here. I've got to take that into consideration that I can go back. Obviously, both parties need to come to an agreement come the end of the season and listen, the chapter's not fully closed, but we'll see what happens."
Conceicao talked up Walker's versatility before Milan took on Bologna in the league on Friday night, suggesting he's a viable option in a back three or at right wing-back. The veteran started on the bench, but came on as part of a triple change with Milan trailing 1-0 and was on the pitch as fellow sub Santi Gimenez scored twice in a 3-1 comeback win.
A slow start under previous boss Paulo Fonseca left Milan out of the European picture, and they took a while to hit their stride in the league under Conceicao. However, a return of four wins from their last five outings leaves them with an outside shot at qualifying for Europe via their league position, while victory in the Coppa Italia final is another potential route in.

Jack Grealish handed fresh Premier League escape route amid brutal Man City snub
Manchester City star Jack Grealish is set to depart the Etihad Stadium this summer after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola and Premier League sides are interested Everton are monitoring Jack Grealish's situation at Manchester City as the midfielder prepares to exit the Etihad Stadium, according to reports. The Toffees are interested in bringing Grealish to Merseyside, though no talks have taken place over a move thus far. The 29-year-old England international is set to be left out of the City Club World squad to travel to the United States. Grealish has won the Premier League three times with City but has seen his influence wane over the last two seasons. The former Aston Villa talisman started just seven times in the Premier League in 24/25 and was an unused substitute 12 times in the competition. The club are said to be willing to accept an offer of £40million for their record signing, taking a £60m hit. However, Grealish's salary could prove problematic to any deal. The star's £300,000-a-week pay packet will pose issues for any side interested in securing his signature and requiring to comply with profit and sustainability rules. Any potential move looks more likely to be a loan deal if Everton are to get a shock deal over the line. Newcastle have also been linked with making a move, while Bayern Munich have been touted with a potential deal if Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman depart. Grealish has been told by England boss Thomas Tuchel that he must earn time on the pitch if he hopes to make the World Cup squad in 12 months time. The German coach said: 'I love Jack for his personality and of course his talent. He is a very unique player who can handle big pressure on the field. "He is never shy of pressure. It's the opposite. He grows in big matches but he's a player who needs minutes and minutes and minutes and simply does not get them for a very long time. That's basically everything. Nothing has changed. "I have maybe the same information as you that City are thinking of not taking him to the Club World Cup. So he needs to make himself available by playing. I think it's one of his key strengths. "To go every three days and get better and better with every minute that he has in his legs. That's what is missing, nothing else. I have spoken to him after the first international camp and very shortly after the FA Cup final but not since then.' Pep Guardiola agrees with the England boss' assessment. He said: 'Of course, Jack has to play. He's an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days. It didn't happen this season and last season either. He needs to do it, with us or another place. 'It's a question for Jack, his agent and the club. If he stays it will be fine and he will fight like he fought from day one to make a contribution, but not today.' Guardiola added: 'It's nothing personal with Jack. I'm the person who fought for him to come here and the person who fought for him to stay here this season."

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that reported Rangers transfer target Harry Toffolo has left the club after his contract at the City Ground expired. Toffolo, who operates as a left-back, is one of a number of players linked with Rangers since the arrival of Russell Martin as head coach last week. The 29-year-old Englishman has been at Forest for the past three years and has also played for Huddersfield Town, Lincoln City, Millwall and Norwich. As well as Toffolo, the Ibrox side has been linked with Leicester defender Conor Coady, Southampton playmaker Flynn Downes and Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman. A statement on Toffolo from Nottingham Forest read: 'Nottingham Forest can confirm that Harry Toffolo will depart the Club upon the expiration of his contract this summer. 'Since his arrival from Huddersfield Town in 2022, Toffolo has made an invaluable contribution not only on the pitch, but also off it. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Last year, the 29-year-old was named as an ambassador for Tricky to Talk – Nottingham Forest Community Trust's mental health programme – having attended several Tricky Hubs and Bottled Up Blokes sessions, speaking about his own history with mental health whilst actively listening to participants who share similar struggles. 'Toffolo also attended a number of Community Trust's Soccer Schools visits, helping to inspire the next generation of aspiring footballers, and his off-the-pitch contributions were rightly recognised as he was named the Club's PFA Community Champion in the 2023/24 season. 'Toffolo, who made a total of 57 appearances for Forest, produced an outstanding goal-line clearance in Forest's 2-1 away victory at Tottenham Hotspur in April – a win that proved to be crucial in the Reds' pursuit of European football for the first time in 30 years. 'The defender's first and only goal for the Club in a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December 2023 meant that he has scored in each of England's top four divisions, outlining his impressive rise up the footballing pyramid.
