Nicholas, of Hull, East Yorks, told The Sun: 'I've been given a chance and I intend to go as hard as possible at it. My hope is to reach the high ranks. This is what motivates me to succeed.'
He fell in love with

Japan
and he hosts a tournament every year. I managed to win somehow. My opponents were very tough.
'From then on, I realised sumo wrestling was the sport for me.'

'If every driver did not have a contract for next year, Max would be the number one of every single team and that is understandable. 'But here are two seats for every race team and I knew if I would continue to perform as I am doing I would not be under threat. I am in a good place and there is in no rush to do contract negotiations.'

Doddie'5 Lions Challenge will see 50 cyclists ride around Ireland from Belfast to Dublin to raise money for a Motor Neurone Disease cure. Among those taking part is Scottish rugby legend Kenny Logan and his wife Gabby, the BBC sports presenter. Actor Jamie Bamber and Scottish football legend Ally McCoist are also part of the team taking part. In total, the 50 cyclists will travel 555 miles or 893 kilometres in six days, finishing in Dublin to deliver the match ball to the Aviva Stadium ahead of the British and Irish Lions versus Argentina match. 'The Doddie'5 Lions Challenge will take us across Ireland's breathtaking landscapes and historic rugby heartlands,' the challenge's website says. 'Each day brings a new challenge, stunning scenery, and unforgettable camaraderie.' On Monday, the group will trek across Connacht, arriving in Dexcom Stadium between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. 'Why not pop out to the ground and give them a West of Ireland welcome,' a post from Connacht Rugby said. The challenge is a fundraising effort stemming from the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. This foundation was set up in 2017 by former Scottish and Lions rugby player Doddie Weir and trustees after Weir was diagnosed with MND the year before. Weir died in 2022 aged 52. As you may have noticed through both the challenge and foundation names, the number 5 is a special number for the foundation. ADVERTISEMENT It's a reference to Doddie's playing number for his clubs, Melrose and Newcastle Falcons, and the jersey he wore when he earned his 61 caps for Scotland. 'Doddie was driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease,' the foundation's website states. The foundations vision is simple – a world free of MND. 'The Foundation is committed to helping improve the lives of those affected by motor neuron disease,' the website continues. 'We help to fund grants, giving considerable sums to our friends at MND Association and MND Scotland to administer to individuals and families living with MND.' The My Name'5 Doddie Foundation is one of the leading charitable funders of MND research in the UK. The funds raised support a comprehensive research pipeline, from early-stage ideas through to drug development and clinical trials, all aimed at delivering effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for MND. 10 per cent of the funds raised on throughout the Doddie'5 Lions Challenge around Ireland will be donated to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association 'to support their efforts'.
