LuLu Hypermarkethas been recognized for its outstanding contributions to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), receiving the prestigious 'Best CSR Initiative in the Retail Sector' award at the Qatar CSR Summit and Awards 2025, held recently in Doha.
The award was handed over by Dr. Saif Ali Al Hajari, CEO of the Qatar CSR National Programme, toShanavas P.M., Regional Director of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar, in recognition of LuLu Hypermarket's ongoing dedication to implementing meaningful social and environmental initiatives that contribute to national development.
The Qatar CSR Summit, organized by Qatar University and held under the esteemed patronage of HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, serves as a prominent platform that brings together business leaders, policymakers, and CSR advocates to discuss the evolving role of corporate responsibility and its integration within the circular economy model.
LuLu Hypermarket's recognition at this prestigious event highlights its deep-rooted commitment to creating positive societal impact through a wide range of meaningful initiatives that span food security, education, environmental conservation, and community welfare.
Among its key sustainability practices, LuLu Hypermarket has implemented the centralization of frozen and chilled deliveries as part of its broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions. By consolidating logistics operations, the company has successfully minimized fuel consumption, reduced vehicle wear-and-tear, and significantly lowered its carbon footprint. Tribune News Network Doha Mohammed bin Mahdi Al-Ahbabi, Member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Chamber, received on Wednesday at the Chamber's headquarters a trade delegation from Tanzania. The delegation included a number of companies operating in the construction, contracting, real estate, and infrastructure sectors, and was headed by Engineer Peter Sikalumba, Chief Engineer at the Ministry of Works inTanzania. During the meeting, discussions were held on enhancing trade and economic cooperation between Qatar and Tanzania in the construction sector. Qatari business owners were invited to take part in key projects in Tanzania. The meeting also explored the main sectors where the private sectors of both countries could collaborate. Al-Ahbabi praised the strong Qatari-Tanzanian relations, particularly in economic and investment fields. He pointed out the growing interest among Qatari businesspeople in exploring available opportunities in Tanzania and entering into joint ventures with Tanzanian companies to leverage the country's strategic assets. He also reaffirmed Qatar Chamber's full readiness to cooperate with Tanzanian companies interested in working with the Qatari private sector, and to coordinate with the relevant trade authorities in Tanzania to explore ways to boost bilateral trade. Tribune News Network Doha Mohammed bin Mahdi Al-Ahbabi, Member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Chamber, received Hernán Lombardi, Minister of Economic Development of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his accompanying delegation at the Chamber's headquarters on Wednesday. The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the commercial and economic fields, and ways to enhance them. The two sides also reviewed the investment climate in both countries and the available investment opportunities that businesspeople from both sides can capitalize on to strengthen trade exchanges. Al-Ahbabi praised the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Argentina, pointing out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached about QAR 366 million in 2024. He noted that this figure does not reflect the true potential and mutual ambitions, emphasizing the need to work diligently to boost trade cooperation by encouraging the private sector to establish joint ventures in both Qatar and Argentina. Al-Ahbabi also highlighted the presence of nine Argentine companies registered with Qatar Chamber and operating in the Qatari market in partnership with Qatari firms. He affirmed that Qatar Chamber welcomes Argentine companies interested in investing in Qatar and noted that, conversely, many Qatari investors are keen to explore investment opportunities in Argentina. For his part,Hernán Lombardi commended the relations between Qatar and Argentina. He stated that his visit to Doha comes as part of his country's desire to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with the State of Qatar. He invited Qatari businesspeople and investors to explore the investment environment and opportunities available in Argentina, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, technology, and others.
