Review: Taparelle Restaurant at Manarat Al Saadiyat

Grab lunch, dinner and even breakfast at this cute alfresco eat…
When you want a break from the bustle of the city and think of what the best places to relax and dine in Abu Dhabi are, there are a few that come to mind: The Galleria Al Maryah Island, Yas Marina, Yas Bay, Mamsha Al Saadiyat, Al Qana, Marsa Al Bateen. But how often do you consider Manarat Al Saadiyat, one of the capital's favourite spots for culture and now home to the newly opened Bubble Planet, as a spot for your next meal?
The introduction of Taparelle to Manarat changes all that, and whether you're around to check out a cool new art installation, enjoy those Saadiyat vibes, or just crave neat Mediterranean fare, this is a great spot to dine at. Let's discover their menu and see what's good at Taparelle.
It helps we're here during a time of the year when it's near criminal to be cooped up indoors in the air-con. With the breezy island air convincing us to dine alfresco, we're seated at a cute, calm, garden-esque outdoors. But first, as you walk into Taparelle, you're greeted by pottery and artistic creations (that are for sale, art lovers), and if you take the stairs to the upper level, you'll be introduced to a whole level of artistic goodness. Think food-inspired art, pottery, culture honouring the region, and more. Did we mention the cutlery at Taparelle is also handmade by the same artist?

While we could keep gushing about the art and décor, the food's just as impressive. Make sure you try the Iberico beef pizza(Dhs85) that arrives at your table from one of the capital's few wood-fired ovens. It's thin and crispy, with signature cheese-and-tomato goodness topped off with flavourful slices of beef. But our main pick of the meal is the grilled baby chicken with mojo rojo sauce and pickles(Dhs95), seasoned wonderfully and cooked to perfection so the meat is tender. If you're a fan of perennial favourites such as the steak frites(Dhs125) or grilled prawns(Dhs125), they're available, too.
While starters such as the seabass carpaccio(Dhs60) with lemon zest and raspberry vinegar and desserts such as the lemon and thyme sorbet (Dhs35) ensure you feel like you're on the Mediterranean from start to finish, we're excited to learn they'll soon be launching a new breakfast that will be served between 9am and noon. Good times ahead for Taparelle, and Abu Dhabi's hungry diners.

Novikov is opening in Abu Dhabi and it's absolutely gorgeous

Abu Dhabi's dining scene just got a serious glow-up. Novikov, the internationally acclaimed restaurant known for its high-profile London flagship and globally inspired menus, is officially opening its doors at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island – and it's nothing short of spectacular. Making its debut with a new Mediterranean concept, Novikov Abu Dhabi blends the sun-drenched flavours of coastal Italy, Southern France, Greece, Spain and Portugal into one stylish, ingredient-forward menu. You may also like: 20+ new restaurants in Abu Dhabi It's a bold move that perfectly matches the capital's rising reputation as a culinary and cultural hub. Inside, the space is pure escapism. Real olive trees line the floors, hand-painted artworks adorn the walls and sculptural lighting gives the interiors a warm, golden glow. The restaurant flows between a statement open kitchen, a chic bar, a lively main dining room and a private dining space. A waterfront terrace overlooking Al Maryah Island's glittering promenade will open later in the season, promising perfect views for golden-hour dining and late-night lounging. At the centre of it all is executive chef Marco Lubian, who along with head chef Alberto Dorigo, brings a soulful, technique-driven approach to Mediterranean cuisine. Starters include fresh buffalo burrata with sweet cherry tomatoes, delicate tuna carpaccio with foie gras and truffle and a refined beef carpaccio topped with rocket, parmesan flakes and more truffle. For mains, highlights include charcoal-grilled octopus served with roasted potatoes and padrón peppers, lobster linguini in a rich tomato sauce and a deeply satisfying mushroom and truffle risotto. Desserts are just as thoughtful, with a standout meringue cake, a tart-sweet lemon Amalfi made with lemon jam and yuzu ganache and a scoop of velvety gelato topped with Amarena cherries – Chef Marco's personal favourite. In a nod to its London roots, a few of Novikov's Asian favourites have made the trip to Abu Dhabi, including the wildly popular Wagyu tacos and the dramatic wasabi king crab leg, served tableside. The Novikov experience doesn't stop at the table. As night falls, the venue transforms into a sleek, after-dark destination with live piano performances and curated DJ sets from Tuesday to Saturday. The bar buzzes with conversation and Mediterranean-style mixed drinks, and there's also an extensive grape list to choose from. Reservations are open now and yes, it's already the place to be seen. Opens Fri Jun 13. Sun-Thurs (12pm-1am), Fri-Sat (12pm-2am). Al Maryah Island, (02 563 2937). Jacquemus beckons you to Mykonos for the ultimate fashion-infused summer retreat

As the Mediterranean sun reaches its glory, Jacquemus unveils the season's most coveted fashion destination: a breezy, blue-hued boutique nestled along the powder-white sands of Nammos Beach in Mykonos. More than a mere retail space, this temporary installation—open through summer's end—represents the perfect confluence of high fashion and idyllic escapism, offering travelers a compelling reason to journey to Greece's most glamorous island. The collaboration with legendary beach club Nammos Village positions this pop-up as the centerpiece of Mykonos' summer social scene. Designed as a contemporary take on traditional Greek kiosks, the structure's vibrant azure facade mirrors the Aegean Sea, while inside, an exclusive capsule collection captures the essence of Jacquemus' sun-drenched aesthetic. Lightweight raffia separates, bias-cut silk dresses, and minimalist leather sandals compose a wardrobe made for leisurely lunches at Scorpios and golden-hour cocktails at Alemagou. Each piece serves as both souvenir and sartorial statement—the kind that only gains meaning when worn against Mykonos' iconic backdrop of whitewashed windmills and cobalt-domed chapels. What elevates this experience beyond typical holiday shopping is its deliberate immersion in the Nammos ecosystem. Guests can transition seamlessly from browsing the boutique's curated offerings to securing a coveted daybed at the beach club, where the boundaries between retail therapy and relaxation dissolve. The collection itself—available only at this location—includes special-edition pieces featuring custom Grecian motifs, ensuring visitors return home with more than just memories. View this post on Instagram A post shared by JACQUEMUS (@jacquemus) For the fashion-conscious traveler, this collaboration presents a rare opportunity to align one's itinerary with the industry's most discerning tastes. The boutique operates on island time (daily from 11 AM until sunset), encouraging visitors to embrace the slow rhythm of Greek summer while indulging in retail moments as carefully composed as their Instagram feeds. Practicalities underscore the pop-up's exclusivity: no reservations are required, but Nammos' VIP hosts can arrange private viewings for those who prefer to shop away from the midday crowds. With direct flights from major European hubs and Mykonos' reputation as the summer's most dynamic social stage, Jacquemus' latest venture offers the ultimate justification for a stylish Mediterranean getaway. In a season saturated with pop-ups, this one stands apart for ability to crystallize the very essence of summer longing. After all, true luxury lies in experiences that linger long after the tan fades. – For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and Instagram Images: Supplied & Feature Image: Supplied

The Ferrari World Formula Run is back this weekend and this is how you can participate

Start your engines – and your stretches. The Formula Run returns to Ferrari World Yas Island this Sunday June 15, bringing back the adrenaline-fuelled race through one of Abu Dhabi's most iconic attractions. Now, in celebration of the theme park's 15th anniversary, this year's run is promising more than just a jog through the park. Think indoor air-conditioned tracks, unique race formats and a route that winds through Ferrari World's famous rides, spills into Yas Mall and loops back via the Italian Village. There are three distances to choose from – 2.5km, 5km or 10km – making it suitable for seasoned runners and first-timers alike. All participants will get a custom medal and a limited-edition T-shirt (while supplies last). Check-in starts bright and early at 6am, with races kicking off from 7am. But the highlight this year might just be the new 'Ferrari 15: Ultimate Edition'. It's a high-intensity 15-minute challenge where runners aim to complete as many laps as they can inside the park. It begins at 8.30am and is open to all registered runners via an additional sign-up. The winner will walk away with an exclusive Ferrari merch bundle – because nothing says 'I conquered Ferrari World' like a branded cap and mug. More than just a race, the Formula Run is a celebration of speed, community and that unique Yas Island energy. Whether you're running for the medal or the memories, it's one of the city's most thrilling ways to spend a Sunday morning. Registration is open now – just be quick about it. Like the name suggests, this one moves fast. From Dhs85. June 15, 6am. Ferrari World, Yas Island.
