2025 Red Wings Draft Pick Michal Svrcek Announces Where He's Playing Next Season
However, fans are going to have to wait to see what he can do on North American ice. He confirmed recently to the Slovak television channel TVNoviny that he'll be returning to Brynäs IF of the SHL for another season.
'This week I agreed with my agent [Allan Walsh] and Detroit's management that I will stay with Brynas for the upcoming season, where I'll try to start the season with the men's A-team,' he said.
After playing 30 games with the under-20 team in Sweden's top junior league, he was promoted to the men's team, playing in 17 games and scoring once with two assists.

He still feels fortunate to have been selected by the Red Wings, with whom he said he met with multiple times in the days leading up to the Draft.
'I felt like Detroit could draft me,' Svrcek said. 'I talked to them a lot and had great meetings. I was not surprised. It was a great moment. I've enjoyed every moment (at camp). I'm so happy.'
Speaking of drafts, Svrcek was also selected by the OHL's Windsor Spitfires in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.
Before his decision was made to return to Brynäs IF, Svrcek's agent Allan Walsh explained that a collaboration was underway with the Red Wings on where his development could ultimately be helped most in 2025-26.
'There's a rather complex process involved in the decision of Michal coming to the CHL this year or not,' said Walsh. 'We're actively involved in the process with Michal and Detroit in figuring out where the best place is for him to play and working quickly to make a decision in collaboration with each other.'
At only 18 years old, there is still plenty of time in Svrcek's development for him to hone his skills in hopes of eventually being an impact player at the NHL level.

Texas Fury Texans and Jaguars Elite win titles at NFL Flag Championships
CANTON, Ohio (AP) — The Texas Fury Texans and Jaguars Elite won titles in the NFL Flag Championships on Sunday. The Texans beat the Bad Rabbits Cowboys 19-0 to win the High School Girls division. The Jaguars beat Showtime 13-0 to take the 14U Boys championship. Emery Beckett completed all eight of her pass attempts in the title game for the Texans, throwing two touchdown passes to Zahra Hill and one to Kelsey Quinn. Their coach, Keenan Hughes, was recently hired as the first coach for the women's flag football team at Concordia University in Austin, Texas. The Jaguars were led by tournament MVP Brysen Wright, whose one-handed catch earlier in the event drew an incredulous social media response from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 14-year-old Wright scored 10 touchdowns in seven games. "It's a fast-paced, exciting and explosive game,' Jaguars coach David Price said. 'I think guys like Brysen are really going to help get more eyes on the sport.' ___ AP NFL: The Associated Press

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Makes Rough Prediction For NASCAR's Dover Race
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Makes Rough Prediction For NASCAR's Dover Race originally appeared on The Spun. Dale Earnhardt Jr. isn't forecasting great things for Sunday's NASCAR race in Dover. With high heat expected in Delaware this weekend, it's going to be a tough one for teams and drivers alike — and it's definitely not a part of racing that Dale Jr. misses in retirement. "This race today at Dover is gonna be a hot one," Earnhardt shared to X. "Absolutely miserable inside the racecar. I do not miss this part of it. Damn it's gonna be difficult. Lucky for some of the technology we have today." Fans agreed in the comments. "The Musty Monster Mile," a user replied. "I [thought] the IndyCar race at Gateway a few weeks ago was bad! This is next level. LOVE this track tho!!!" "Hoping no failed cool suits. That would be terrible," another said. "I love how honest Dale Jr. is on Twitter 😂" a fan laughed. "Kyle Busch is in the media center hanging out before having to go out. Its brutal," another person shared. "Preparing myself for at least 45min of coverage on cool suits," a viewer commented. "Should be running night races in the summer. In my opinion." "I remember the 01 spring race here, I thought that was the most god awful hot race I've been to at the track, I think this is worse," another fan admitted. "Just hoping we have 37 safe and healthy drivers at the end of this," another user prayed. It's definitely going to be less than comfortable for today's wheelman as Next Gen cars can easily get into the 130° range and above. We'll see who's mental and physical toughness can win out over the course of 400 laps at Dover International Earnhardt Jr. Makes Rough Prediction For NASCAR's Dover Race first appeared on The Spun on Jul 20, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 20, 2025, where it first appeared.
