Foo Fighters drummer suddenly booted from the band
The Foo Fighters threw a monkey wrench in Josh Freese's plans.
Two years after joining the Foo Fighters as their drummer following the death of Taylor Hawkins, the musician, 52, announced he was let go from the rock band without warning.
'The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they've decided 'to go in a different direction with their drummer.' No reason was given. :( Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage,' Freese wrote on Instagram about the group that was spearheaded by Dave Grohl in 1994.
'I support whatever they feel is best for the band,' he added.
'In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I've never been let go from a band,' Freese continued. 'So while I'm not angry-just a bit shocked and disappointed. But as most of you know I've always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I'm fine.'
Poking fun at the disappointing circumstances, the drummer concluded his messaged, 'Stay tuned for my 'Top 10 reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters' list.'
Many celebrities flocked to the comments section to share their disbelief.
Dream Theatre drummer Mike Portnoy commented, 'Damn … I'm shocked! You seemed to be the perfect fit!!' Actress Wendi McLendon-Covey wrote, 'Wtf?????? But hey, you'll always be fine …. And you might actually be dodging a bullet. Love to you and your family!'
The rep for the Foo Fighters has been contacted for comment.
Freese has been a drummer in the punk rock band the Vandals since 1989 and is also a member of the new wave band Devo, which he joined in 1996.
The rocker is no stranger to iconic bands as he has also worked with Guns N' Roses, Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle.
Freese joined Foo Fighters in 2023, alongside Grohl, 56, who is on lead vocals and guitar, Pat Smear on guitar, Chris Shiflett on guitar and backing vocals, Nate Mendel (bass) and Rami Jaffee, who plays keyboards and piano.
He took over on the drums for the iconic rock band one year after Hawkins died unexpectedly while on tour in Colombia at age 50.
Hawkins was found dead in a hotel room at the Four Seasons Casa Medina in Bogota, with authorities discovering 'at least 10 different substances' in the room, according to a report that cited Fiscalia Colombia, the national lawyer general's office.
The drummer's heart allegedly weighed double the average for men his age at the time of his death.
Hawkins left behind his wife, Alison Hawkins, whom he married in 2005, and their three children: daughters Everleigh and Annabelle and son Oliver, who followed in his father's footsteps by playing drums.

Christian Bale unrecognisable on the set of his upcoming sports movie Madden
Christian Bale is known for his extreme physical transformations for movie roles – and he's done it again for his upcoming film, Madden. The Oscar winner shaved his head, bleached his eyebrows and put on 9kgs to play former US Vice President Dick Cheney in the 2018 biopic Vice; he dropped a staggering 28kgs to play an emaciated, sleep-deprived operator in 2004 psychological thriller The Machinist; and that same year, he gained about 45kgs to play Batman in the rebooted Batman Begins. Now, the 51-year-old has once again undergone a remarkable transformation on the set of his new sports biopic, Madden, to portray late Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis. Bale was spotted in character on set in Atlanta, Georgia, looking slick in a black leather get-up accessorised with three flashy Super Bowl rings. And gone was the actor's usually scruffy hair and beard. Instead he rocked a balding hairline, with the rest of his thin hair brushed back. Bale's skin also looked red and splotchy while in character. It wasn't just Bale who has transformed for his role. Co-star Nicolas Cage is also unrecognisable as titular character John Madden – the Raiders coach and legendary NFL broadcaster who is also the inspiration behind the popular video game Madden NFL. 'The film follows Madden's remarkable journey – from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history,' reads a synopsis from Amazon MGM Studios. Earlier this week, 61-year-old Cage was spotted wearing a vintage blue tracksuit and white button-up shirt over a fat suit on the Atlanta set. Like Bale, Cage was also wearing a light brown wig to complete his look. Last month, Amazon MGM Studios also shared a first look at Cage and Bale dressed in '70s gear, with their characters showing off the Super Bowl rings they won in 1977 after leading the Raiders to victory. The biopic also stars John Mulaney as EA founder Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Madden's wife Virginia, and Sienna Miller as Al's wife Carol. 'The film follows Madden's remarkable journey — from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating 'Madden NFL,' and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history,' reads the synopsis from Amazon MGM Studios.

Tom Hanks breaks silence on daughter's abuse claims made in bombshell memoir
Tom Hanks praised his daughter E.A. Hanks' candid new memoir, which detailed her 'abusive' childhood with her late mother, Samantha Lewes. 'It's a pride because, I think, she shares it with me, she's been very open about what the process is,' Hanks told Access Hollywood at The Phoenician Scheme premiere last week. 'I'm not surprised that my daughter had the wherewithal, as well as the curiosity, as well as, I'm going to say, perhaps, the 'shoot herself in the foot' kind of wherewithal in order to examine this thing that I think she was incredibly honest about.' 'We all come from checked or cracked lives, all of us, despite the fact that part of it would seem as though she worked for some international well-known firm with a copyrighted last name,' the Forrest Gump actor, 68, continued. 'She knows that, and she leans into absolutely everything of it, and I think anyone who does that is a bold journalistic literary mind, and I'm thrilled I can say the same thing about my daughter.' Hanks also explained that as a father, he realised who his daughter was when she was 6 weeks old, as he examined her 'personality,' 'temperament,' and the way she viewed the world through her 'body language.' The Cast Away star shares E.A., 43, and son Colin Hanks, 47, with Lewes, whom he was married to from 1978 to 1987. Lewes, born Susan Dillingham, passed away in 2002 from lung cancer. She was 49. In her tell-all book, The 10: A Memoir of Family And The Open Road, E.A. recalled moving to Sacramento with her mum after her famous parents got a divorce. The author claimed that Lewes struggled with mental health issues and was often abusive toward her. 'She pushed me, shook me, pulled at my hair and locked me in a closet once or twice … she told me there were men hiding in her closet who were waiting for us to go to sleep to come out and do horrible things,' E.A., whose full name is Elizabeth Ann, wrote. She detailed her lifestyle at Lewes' home, explaining she was never told to brush her teeth, and there was either loads of food or nothing at all. She also alleged that Lewes would discuss her 'miscarried babies' and suggested E.A. would 'join them in eternal limbo.' When E.A. was in seventh grade, she moved to Los Angeles with her famous father after her mum's 'emotional violence became physical violence.' At the time, Tom had remarried his current wife, Rita Wilson, whom he wed in 1988. 'Rita's not really a stepmother, she's my other mother,' she told People in April. 'When I say my parents, I really mean my dad and Rita, because they've been together since before I can really remember.' Tom and Wilson, 68, share sons Chet, 34, and Truman, 29.

How Christina Haack split property portfolio with ex husband
Christina Haack has shed some light on her divorce settlement with Josh Hall, hinting she feels 'screwed' over by the agreement they finally reached. Speaking on SiriusXM's 'Jeff Lewis Live', the reality star revealed she 'signed something' to get rid of the drama with her ex for good. 'There's like a process after the process. It was resolved in mediation after I think 12 hours.' When Lewis asked the interior designer if she was happy with how the settlement turned out, she noted she wasn't interested in divulging all the details. 'I heard a saying once, like, if you both think you're screwed … I don't know how it goes,' she said. 'Look, it's not great, but I guess it's done.' Co-host Shane Douglas clarified the phrase: 'If both parties are equally unhappy after the negotiation, then you got what you want.' Although the details of the settlement haven't been revealed, Haack teased that she will stop by Lewis' show again when they become public record. A rep for Haack told Us Weekly, 'Christina is pleased to confirm that a settlement has been reached through mediation. 'She extends her sincere appreciation to her lawyer, Laura Wasser, and her team for their professional guidance and support throughout the process.' The HGTV star also praised her legal team on her social media, Realtor reports. 'You are all a true class act. I loved watching you in action and how you handle everything and everyone with class and grace,' Haack said on her Instagram story. 'I appreciate you all beyond words. I have learned so much under your guidance.' The settlement came as a shock to fans and Haack, who previously lamented the ongoing legal proceedings during an appearance on the show 'Jeff Lewis Has Issues.' 'We're not even close [to a settlement]. We're going to be going to trial, I hear. It's going to be fun. Can't wait,' she said. She claimed that Hall asked the court to force her to pay his legal fees, noting that she has not yet been 'ordered' to do so but that she has been supporting him financially. The court hasn't 'ordered me yet, but he's been asking me [for money],' she said. 'I've already had to give a little something, but then he bought a Bentley. 'I gave him money to live, and he bought a Bentley, but he also doesn't have a job, so …' According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Haack asked that neither she nor Hall pay spousal support, adding that she wanted her ex to pay her lawyer fees. On the flip side, Hall requested spousal support and asked Haack to pay his lawyer fees. In response to Haack's interview rant about him, Hall's spokesperson shared a comment on his behalf, quoting a Mariah Carey song. 'It's sad Christina must resort to low blow about her ex Josh to promote her new show,' it read in part. 'She should focus on her new boyfriend and stop talking about Josh. As the great Mariah Carey once sang, 'Why you so obsessed with me?' We wish Christina the best. 'Christina knows nothing about Josh's life, and it's sad she keeps speculation. Her accusations are baseless.' Sharing a screenshot of the statement on her Instagram account, Haack vented her fury about the comment. 'I just threw up in my mouth. Quoting a Mariah Carey song is a new low … even for you,' she wrote. 'Trust me idgaf about Josh's life. I do however care about his bts tactics. Narcissism at its finest,' she added. Hall filed for divorce from Haack in July 2024 after three years of marriage. The pair have the past few months embroiled in a bitter feud with Haack accusing her ex of trying to take her money and her property, allegations that he has vehemently denied. The former couple have been at odds over the HGTV star's $US4.5 million ($A6.9 million) Tennessee farmhouse since their split last year. Back in February, Haack delisted her farmhouse again as Hall continued his legal battle to block the sale. The real estate investor first listed the property back in October, only to take it off the market three weeks later, when it was revealed that Hall had filed a temporary emergency order to try to halt the sale of the home, which is known as Parker Branch. Hall — who was living in the house when it was listed — claimed the property was put up for sale without his consent, despite him offering Haack a global settlement, which she turned down. Although Haack bought the home before she and Hall were married, he claimed in legal documents that the 'paydown of the mortgage during marriage' entitled him to a say in what happened to the property. Haack split from her first husband Tarek El Moussa in 2016. They had two children over their nine-year marriage. In 2018, she married Ant Anstead with the duo welcoming son, Hudson London, in 2019. Anstead and Haack split in 2021, with the reality TV star marrying Hall in 2022. It is understood she is now dating businessman Christopher Larocca.
