Mint28-04-2025
Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, an Indian man has been arrested for allegedly vandalising the Pakistan High Commission in London.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, when the man, identified as 41-year-old Ankit Love, smashed the windows of the diplomatic mission.
This follows a heated demonstration on Friday, organised by Indian community groups, protesting Pakistan's involvement in cross-border terrorism in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Monday that Ankit Love, 41, was arrested on Sunday and charged with criminal damage. Police were called after reports of a man allegedly smashing the windows of the diplomatic mission in the early hours of Sunday.
'Ankit Love, 41 (born 07.08.83), of no fixed address, was charged with criminal damage on Sunday, April 27,' a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said.
'He was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, April 28. The charge follows an incident around 05:00hrs on Sunday, April 27, when police were called to reports of a man allegedly smashing the windows of the Pakistani High Commission in Lowndes Square, Kensington and Chelsea,' the spokesperson added.
The terrorist attack at Baisaran Meadow in Pahalgam on April 22 killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, while several others were injured.
Hundreds of members of the Indian community gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission in London on Friday to protest the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
Holding Indian flags, banners, and placards, the protesters expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and demanded justice for the victims. They raised slogans against terrorism and criticised Pakistan for supporting and sheltering terror groups responsible for such attacks.
The Indian community demanded that the UK government summon the Pakistan High Commissioner for an official explanation, Pakistan must publicly condemn the killings and commit to ending the sponsorship of terrorism, and Diplomatic pressure must be applied to bring the perpetrators and their funders to justice.
A group of Pakistani counter-protesters, backed up by diplomatic officials, deployed loudspeakers to drown out the slogans and chants of the Indian side.
Colonel Taimur Rahat, Pakistan Army and Air Advisor in the High Commission in London was also caught on camera publicly making a threatening throat slit gesture towards Indian community protestors.

How to claim your share of $4.5M GameStop data breach settlement. Details here

There are only a few days left to claim your share of a $4.5 million settlement with GameStop. This comes after a lawsuit said the company sold customers' personal data to Facebook without permission, according to WFFA. In June, GameStop emailed customers about the settlement. It denied wrongdoing but settled to avoid trial costs and risks.(REUTERS) The class action lawsuit said GameStop broke federal law, specifically the Video Privacy Protection Act, or VPPA. The company took customer data from purchases on its website and gave it to Facebook. GameStop did not admit to doing anything wrong as part of the settlement. The deadline to file a claim is Friday, August 15. Also Read: GameStop's wild ride has Indian retail traders joining in Who can get money from the GameStop settlement? Anyone who bought a video game from GameStop's website between August 18, 2020, and April 7, 2025, and had a public Facebook profile with their name at the time of purchase is eligible. In June, GameStop sent emails about the settlement to customers who bought games on their website. Although GameStop did not admit fault, it agreed to settle to avoid the costs and risks of continuing the lawsuit. If you got that email, you are likely part of the settlement group. How much money can you get? Eligible people can get either up to $5 in cash or a GameStop voucher worth up to $10. It is not clear how many people qualify for the settlement. How do you file a claim? First, check your email. The payments are linked to a unique ID number in the email from GameStop. This ID is a 10-character mix of letters and numbers. Anyone with this ID can file a claim before August 15 to get their payment. If you choose a voucher, the credit will be added to your GameStop account linked to your email. If you choose cash, you will get paid through Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal. If you did not get an email with an ID but believe you qualify, you can fill out a paper claim form. When will you get paid? Payments may take some time because they depend on court approval. A court hearing is scheduled for September 18, 2025. If approved, payments will be sent about 45 days after final approval or after any appeals are finished. Voucher payments will also be emailed about 45 days after final approval.

Balochistan people are not terrorists...: Baloch leader slams US over BLA terror designation, warns not to trust Pak Army chief Munir because...

Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch (L) slammed the US for designating the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a terrorist organization. (File) Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch lashed out at the United States for designating the Balochistan Liberation Army as a terrorist organization, asserting that the people of Balochistan are not terrorists, but victims of Pakistan-sponsored terror outfits that have brutalized the region at Islamabad's behest. What did Mir Yar Baloch say? In a post on X, Mir Yar Baloch warned the US against trusting Pakistan, stating the Balochistan rebel movement has had good faith towards the US, while Islamabad has historically been a backstabber who sheltered America's enemies, including Osama bin Laden. 'The people of Balochistan are not terrorists. They are a nation that has suffered 78 years of state terrorism, economic plunder, radioactive poisoning caused by Pakistan's nuclear tests, foreign invasion and occupation by Pakistan's extremist and artificial state,' he wrote. Mir Yar said that Baloch people have been victimized by the IS-Khorasan, an offshoot of the notorious Islamic State terror group allegedly sponsored by Pakistan's ISI and deep state. 'IS-K is a branch of the terrorist organization ISIS, which is being allowed to flourish by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI,' he alleged, adding that the group recently issued a fatwa (decree) calling for violence against Baloch political activists. 'Baloch are friends of US' The Baloch leader accused Islamabad of supporting radical armed groups to 'crush legitimate political voices, stifle democratic aspirations, and destabilize the region'. 'Throughout history, the Baloch people have shown unwavering goodwill towards the US, and never took up arms against any side, even during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan,' he said. Showcasing Baloch people as US-friendly, Mir Yar noted there wasn't a single attack on US personnel or convoys by Baloch fighters or civilians, when NATO supply lines passed through Balochistan after 9/11. 'In contrast, the Pakistan Army and the ISI orchestrated anti-US rallies during the time,' he alleged. Why Mir Yar cautioned US against trusting Pakistan? Meanwhile, the Baloch leader also cautioned the US against trusting Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, reminding Washington about Islamabad's betrayal when it sheltered Osama bin Laden, who lived in Pakistan's Abbottabad for nearly a decade under the protection of the Pakistani army. 'Pakistani leaders have admitted to waging a fake jihad against US interests, betraying allies and promoting extremism. Yet, these same extremists are being described as 'strategic partners', while the real owners of the land in resource-rich Balochistan are being defamed as terrorists,' he said. Mir urged the US to recognize Balochistan as an independent, sovereign nation, asserting that it would give the US a liberal and stable ally in the region, who is rooted in democratic values. The Baloch leader's comments came after the US on Monday designated the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a foreign terrorist organization for carrying terror attacks, including the recent train hijacking, in Pakistan. The US on Monday designated the BLA in the list of foreign terrorist organizations. It has been put on the list of terrorist attacks for carrying out train hijacking and many other attacks in Pakistan recently.
