Super Bowl 2025 goers rattled by sky-high cocktail prices
Some Super Bowl 2025 attendees were floored by the hefty cocktail prices inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Last night, over 65,000 fans gathered to watch the Philadelphia Eagles face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the championship game.
And while the Eagles may have come out on top, beating the Chiefs 40-22, many game-goers felt defeated by the cost of just one drink at the game.
Online, several people at the event posted pictures of the drink menu with alcoholic options being sold for upwards of $17 each.
For just one specialty concoction called the 'Voodoo Magic,' spectators were expected to shell out $59. The contents of the drink included Don Julio 1942, Grand Marnier Cuvee Du Centenaire, single-pressed lime juice, jalapeno syrup, mango puree, black magic seasoning, and a dehydrated lime wheel.
The 'Voodoo Magic' was served in a Super Bowl 2025 branded glass with ice and what looked like tajin spice around the rim.
Other cocktails, such as the 'Blackberry Lemonade' and the 'Royal Carnival Queen,' came with cheaper prices but were still costly nonetheless.
The 'Blackberry Lemonade' — made with Crown Royal blackberry and lemonade — was $40, while the 'Royal Carnival Queen' — mixed with Crown Royal apple, blackberry liqueur, lemon juice, prosecco, and lemon curl garnish — cost $26.
The small selection of beer and wine had prices ranging from $14 to $17. A bottle of water, on the other hand, was $7.
'Ridiculous,' one person wrote on X next to screenshot of the drinks menu.
A second begged: 'Save your money.'
'So they charged 59 bucks for a spicy mango marg? They're crazy,' a third commented.
Food-wise, Caesars Superdome served a Southern rendition of concession stand goodies from catfish po'boys to a New Orleans-style Philly cheesesteak.
The food prices were surprisingly less expensive than the cocktails, with costs ranging from $9 to $30 depending on the item.
Ecstatic Philly fans stormed the streets back home in a chaotic victory celebration, during which multiple fires were set, lampposts were uprooted, and police cars were climbed.
Philadelphia police ordered the crowd to disperse at 1.35 a.m. in an alert broadcast to cellphones.
The parade date has since been confirmed for February 14, Valentine's Day, by Eagles President Don Smolenski and city officials.
'Just watching the weather and we've got some snow coming this week, so we want to be respectful for the city to do what they need to do,' Smolenski told 94WIP on Monday. 'And one extra day of planning doesn't hurt. You know what, it's a nice way to kick off the weekend.'

Missouri governor signs off on financial aid for Chiefs, Royals stadiums
June 15 - Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe signed off on legislation that could provide millions of dollars for stadium upgrades for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Under the bill approved in a special session Wednesday by Missouri lawmakers, the state agreed to authorize bonds to pay for up to half of the cost to build or renovate a stadium, as well as offer tax credits. Local governments also would provide unspecifed assistance. The two teams play at the Truman Sports Complex, with their stadiums side by side. Arrowhead Stadium opened in 1972 as the home of the Chiefs, with the Royals moving into what now is called Kauffman Stadium the following season. Though still esthetically pleasing, the two stadiums are among the oldest in their sports. In the NFL, only the Chicago Bears (Soldier Field, built in 1924) and Green Bay Packers (Lambeau Field, 1957) play in older venues. In Major League Baseball, only the Boston Red Sox (Fenway Park, 1912), Chicago Cubs (Wrigley Field, 1914), Los Angeles Dodgers (Dodger Stadium, 1962) and Los Angeles Angels (Angel Stadium, 1966) have stadiums with a longer life span. The signed bill in Missouri applies to any assistance for any NFL or MLB team that wants to undergo a stadium renovation or build of at least $500 million. That means the St. Louis Cardinals also could get financial aid should they want to improve Busch Stadium, which opened in 2006 amid a wave of new stadiums. The Chiefs and Royals have a looming deadline, however. In an effort to lure the teams to Kansas, that state last year authorized the issuance of bonds for as much as 70 percent of the cost of new stadiums. That offer is scheduled to expire June 30. Kansas City, Mo., tucked in the northwest corner of the state, sits right on the border with Kansas. Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo. are separated by just four miles, for example. Neither team has discounted a move to Kansas. The Chiefs previously unveiled renderings for a proposed multimillion dollar renovation of Arrowhead Stadium. The Royals have said they want to move from Kauffman Stadium, preferably to a new ballpark downtown. In April 2024, voters in Jackson County, Mo., rejected a sales tax measure that would have helped to pay for Arrowhead renovations and a stadium for the Royals. Inside the retro and unique Scottish house that's on sale for offers over £900,000
This unique property in Edinburgh's Barnton Gardens is guaranteed to give you an instant earworm involving a certain song by the Eagles. And, indeed, The Hacienda is a lovely place, with its SoCal vibes that make Scotland seem just a few degrees warmer. This 2580 square foot three-bedroom property was designed in 1980, and has real California soul, with a spiral staircase, a Mexican tiled kitchen island, open plan living spaces and a lush garden that has direct access to the 18th tee of The Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society. It's also spread across two floors, or three if you count the large floored attic. If this sounds like your style, the house is now on the market, via estate agent The Modern House, at offers over £900,000. We asked long-term resident Christine Gupta, who owns the property with her husband, Ash, to tell us more about her retro and very cool home. Why are you moving on? We're both getting older so it's time for us to do a bit of downsizing. Tell us more about the building and its design? It was built in 1980 to a design by architect Gareth Hutchison and developer Derek Edgar who had lived for some years in San Diego and brought the SoCal influence to the building's aesthetic, so that was its inspiration. We bought it in 1984 having fallen in love with it at first glance and have been very happy here ever since. The interior looks like the inside of a shell. Was that their inspiration? The aesthetic has a specific design purpose. The whole house was ahead of its time as it is actually a thermally efficient heat pump. The open plan allows the warmth to flow and radiate throughout the structure. It's very Seventies inside, is that an era that you love? Yes, some of the features remind people of the houses in Seventies films like Dr No – the open fires, the spiral staircase, the split-level open space and the cocktail bar. The free-flowing layout makes it a very social space. Your artworks really complement the space, where did you find the paintings? The majority of the work is mine. I started painting in 2014 and now have my work in private collections around the world. You can see more at . The tapestries came from a tiny specialist shop in Fulham that sold Peruvian hangings and they fitted in perfectly with the feel of the house. Which are your favourite spaces? The kitchen is a favourite as it's the heart of the house and people often say they feel like they're on holiday when they first walk into it. The open plan living area is wonderful for entertaining and enjoys light from three sides with beautiful views to the natural planting of the garden. The best room has to be the master bedroom with its sunny aspect and spacious calmness. It also has a large and very restful en suite bathroom/shower room with views to gardens on both sides. What have been your happiest times in the house? We have always enjoyed entertaining friends and family for parties and legendary barbecues. Some of our parties have featured live bands, but the location means that the neighbours are not disturbed – and they're usually invited anyway! We've also had many happy times in the garden which is very sheltered and we've even found ourselves eating al fresco as early as February. Is it important that the new owner preserves some of the original internal designs, or do you hope that they will? We hardly changed a thing when we first moved in and have not felt the need to impose our own design on the house other than to make it a showcase for my own art. We would hope that the new owners enjoy the open plan flow of the house as much as we have. What's the area like to live in? The area is wonderful with plenty of convenient local amenities and a supportive neighbourhood group. There are fabulous walks to Cramond or in the grounds of Lauriston Castle with its Japanese garden, which is just across the road from us. The house backs on to the 18th hole of the Bruntsfield Golfing Society, one of the oldest clubs in the world, and Barnton Tennis Club is just a few minutes' walk away. You can get to the city centre by the number 47 bus almost from our door and there are essential resources like a supermarket, doctors and dentists also within walking distance. What have you done to the garden and what's growing out there? We've made the garden into a wildlife haven which often gets visits from deer, pheasants and foxes. Rhododendrons, cherry trees, hydrangeas and ferns all thrive and are easy maintenance. There are three lawn areas, one immediately adjacent to the golf club, which makes a great spot to enjoy the evening sun with a glass in hand. What are the best views from the house? The view from the master bedroom over the garden is always a joy and is not overlooked by anyone else. There is also a wonderful view through the woods to the Firth of Forth. The woods were planted for us by the golf course and became recognised as an area of outstanding natural beauty. This means that no one can build there and destroy the view.
