Patrick Mahomes makes bold Travis Kelce claim following Super Bowl dud as retirement rumors swirl

Patrick Mahomes sees a very different Travis Kelce at Chiefs camp as retirement rumors continue to swirl around the star tight end. Mahomes was asked about Kelce at Chiefs' OTAs on Friday and the possibility of it being his final season. But the former MVP doesn't see someone who looks like he is on his way out of the NFL. Advertisement Instead, he sees a Kelce who is more engaged than ever after a poor season by his standards that ended with a loss in Super Bowl 2025 to the Eagles. 'The way he's talking about football, the way he's talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year, he doesn't seem like a guy like it's his last ride, like he's tired of the job.' Kelce, 35, is coming off a season in which he had 97 receptions for a career-low 823 yards and just three touchdowns – also the worst output of his career. Advertisement He wasn't much better in the playoffs, making just 13 catches for 175 yards, one touchdown and seven first downs, as the Chiefs failed to complete a historic three-peat. Kelce particularly struggled in Super Bowl 2025, with four catches for 39 yards. The underwhelming postseason raised questions about Kelce's future as he enters the final year of his two-year, $34 million contract. 'I think he feels better than last year before going into last season. I think he's motivated to go out there and have an even better year than he had this last.' Advertisement Kelce is coming off a relatively quiet offseason, after one filled with trips to girlfriend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. The couple, which has engagement rumors swirling around them, stayed very much out of the public eye outside of a few date nights, including one recently in Florida. It will remain to be seen if Kelce's seeming heightened focus will lead to results on the field.

Travis Kelce flaunts leaner frame after Super Bowl loss and offseason uncertainty

Travis Kelce (via Getty Images) Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is back in the news again—only this time, it's for his new physique, not his touchdown total. Three months following a disappointing Super Bowl 2025 loss and with talk of his NFL future, Travis Kelce made an appearance at a public event in New York City, appearing considerably leaner and more driven. Following Super Bowl disappointment, Travis Kelce redirects energies to fitness and unfinished business Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce appears leaner and rejuvenated as he vows to make a comeback season after a devastating Super Bowl loss. The 10-time Pro Bowler made an appearance at the Amazon Upfront Presentation at the Beacon Theatre, presented by MGM Studios, where he and his brother and co-host of his podcast, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, took the stage. Based on fan reports and stories shared on X (formerly Twitter), Travis Kelce is said to be down 25 pounds from his typical listed playing weight of 250 pounds—leaving him in the ballpark of 225. Despite a difficult postseason and a Super Bowl blowout 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Travis Kelce is not quite ready to retire his cleats yet. In a text to ESPN analyst Pat McAfee earlier this year, Kelce confirmed he would be back for a 13th NFL season, writing that he was 'coming back for sure' and looking to be in better shape than ever. 'I'm coming back for sure. Gonna try to get into the best shape I've been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop,' Kelce said to McAfee. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 'Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and with how I got the guys ready for battle. Last year was Kelce's least productive since 2015, with 97 receptions, 823 yards, and only three touchdowns. But the veteran tight end seems determined to change that, spending this offseason in training and rehab—some of which has contributed to his new, leaner physique. While Kelce has kept a mostly low-key public life since February, he still co-hosts the hit New Heights podcast with Jason Kelce. In non-sports circles, his romance with pop star Taylor Swift keeps enthusiasts abuzz as well. The two, who started dating in 2023, were seen recently enjoying an intimate Mother's Day lunch in Philadelphia—a first public appearance together in months. Terry Bradshaw slams Aaron Rodgers' drawn-out Steelers courtship: ‘Chew on bark'

Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw didn't hold back about his feelings on Aaron Rodgers possibly signing with Pittsburgh after an extended courtship. Rodgers still has not signed a deal with the Steelers despite all indications seeming to point to the union as the future Hall of Famer's offseason saga has dragged on into OTAs. Steelers owner Art Rooney II said earlier this month that the organization would wait 'a little longer' for Rodgers, but Bradshaw panned the idea of the ex-Packers and Jets QB coming to the Steel City. Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images 'That's a joke. That to me is just a joke,' Bradshaw said during an appearance on 103.7 The Buzz. 'What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year, are you kidding me? That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there.' Rodgers is expected to ink a one-year deal with the Steelers, but nothing has officially materialized. Advertisement The QB did appear to hint at playing for the Steelers recently during a Q&A event hosted by rapper Mike Stud when he was asked if he'd play for the Bears, to which he gave a coy response. 'No, but I believe there's a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip,' Rodgers reportedly said, according to NFL Network. 'I don't know, not sure. Got to check it out.' The Steelers play against the Bears in Chicago on Nov. 23. Rodgers had previously said that part of the holdup for making a decision about his future had to do with the fact that someone close to him had been dealing with 'difficult stuff.' Kirk Cousins trolls Travis Kelce for his back hair: ‘God bless Taylor Swift'

Kirk Cousins couldn't help but make fun of Travis Kelce for his hairy back. The Falcons quarterback weighed in on the photos of the Chiefs tight end that circulated recently during an interview with E! News earlier this week. 'God bless Taylor Swift for being good with that,' Cousins said. 'That's awesome. Good for her.' Advertisement Cousins assumed it was 'just genetics' that led to Kelce's fuzzy look. Advertisement Kelce was spotted on Tuesday in Miami, where he at one point took off his black T-shirt to reveal a hairy back as he stepped into the back of a car. Last year, Kelce's brother, Jason, told a story about his sibling's furry body before Travis revealed a hilarious nickname he earned during his college days in an episode of the pair's 'New Heights' podcast. 'All the homies on the court were calling me 'Big Yeti.'' Aside from getting spotted in South Florida, Kelce and Swift have had a quiet offseason together after Kansas City's 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl 2025 this past February.

Saquon Barkley makes bold claim about 2024 Eagles' place in NFL history

It's safe to say that Saquon Barkley is very high on his Super Bowl-winning Eagles squad. When asked where he believes that the 2024 Eagles rank in NFL history, Barkley did not hold back, saying that the team is top-five of all time. 'I firmly believe when you look at our team that we had last year — I know we're not looking too far into the past — but our team last year, I think we're a top-five team of all time,' Barkley said during an episode of the 'Exciting Mics' podcast on Thursday. Saquon Barkley is all smiles after the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX win over the Chiefs on Feb. 9, 2025. Getty Images 'I tell my boys this all the time. We started off 2-2, and we lost to Washington. Jalen [Hurts] got hurt that game. 'But if you really look at the season outside the first four games, it was belt to ass. How dominant you guys were on defense and how dominant we were on offense and special teams, people don't realize how great of a team that actually was.' The Eagles were tied with the Vikings for the third-best record in the NFL last year, going 14-3 in the regular season. After a somewhat rocky start to the 2024 season, the Eagles finished the year with a 10-1 record in which they outscored their opponents 329-188. The Eagles were able to take that run into the postseason, defeating the two-time defending champion Chiefs in Super Bowl 2025 in a blowout 40-22 win. 'I think we all just bought in,' Barkley said. 'You hear the outside noise and expectation. We didn't care how it looked. The only thing we cared about was winning football games. When you have the talent and skill that we have on our team mixed with the coaches, we all play together like how we played, teams really stood no chance. 'You've seen that in the playoffs. You've seen that in the Super Bowl. The score finished 40 to 20-something, but in reality, it wasn't even really a game.' Barkley, who rushed for 2,005 yards last year, added, 'I really think when we look back on it in 10 to 15 years, and we're all old and we're reflecting on our glory days — hopefully next year, the year we're in right now — but the year that we had last year, people don't give us enough credit.' Murray-NY Post During the podcast, Barkley also took the time to call out the owners who tried to ban the Eagles' signature tush push play. The vote did not pass, though 22 teams vote in favor of banning the play. 'The banning thing of it, I think it's soft, to be honest,' Barkley said. 'Because everybody can do it. It's not like a play that we only can do, everybody can do it. It's just, we happen to have one of the best and biggest O-lines and Jalen Hurts can squat 600 pounds. That's not our fault.' 'Josh Allen is super big, [the Bills] aren't successful with it. Lamar Jackson is one of the best running quarterbacks of all time, [the Ravens] aren't successful with it,' Barkley added. 'It's not something that everyone can't do, so them trying to eliminate it, I think that's kind of lame.'
