Cat Jumps on Owner's Walking Pad, Hysterics at What Happens Next

A black cat named Howie has become an unexpected internet sensation after a video of him sprinting on his owner's walking pad went viral.
The clip, shared on TikTok in June under the username @meowyhowie, shows the feline from Austin, Texas, running at a steady 3.2 miles per hour on the walking pad, meowing loudly as his owner reassures him that he can stop, which he soon does.
Felines can be incredibly fast; the best example is the cheetah, renowned for its ability to run at 60 miles per hour. While their domestic counterparts cannot reach this speed, they can however reach peaks of 30 miles per hour. The fastest breeds of all are the Abyssinian and Bengal, known for their athleticism and ability to navigate their surroundings at speed.
When it comes to exercising, there is no set amount of exercise that should be carried out specifically for cats and kittens, but Warren House Veterinary Group suggests having at least two play sessions per day for 15 to 20 minutes.
This short exercise will help reduce boredom, avoiding the famous "night zoomies" that cats often display, and keep them active.
The best way to exercise for a cat include: pouncing; using toys that can be pounced on; climbing; having safe areas for felines to climb on, such as scratching posts; chasing; and long, feather-type toys.
Batting is also another great choice, and rolling toys such as balls are good for this; and, last but not least, exploring, showing them new areas of the house or providing objects such as cardboard boxes or cat activity stands.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 9 million views and more than 1.5 million likes on the platform.
One user, Maassgirl, commented: "He wants you to slow it down, cats are smarter than we think, he knows you control the speed."
Sipuli91 posted: "Cats can actually get addicted to these and running wheels. That's how one of ours sounded like when she truly kicked into the running gear. Now she's busy protecting the wheel as her territory and p***** all over the living room while on SSRIs to try to stop the negative behavior caused by the wheel."
Jay added: "This isn't safe for them. He could train too much and become an Olympic champion and never return home."

My perfect beach proposal was photobombed in the most hilarious — and shockingly sexy — way: ‘We're still cackling about this'
He got down on one knee, while she got down on the pole. The bachelor party entertainment came early for a newly engaged couple, as a smoke-show stripper, scantily clad in a sexy little number and six-inch platform heels, accidentally stole the show during the pair's waterfront proposal. 'We're still cackling about this,' joked Kylie Erickson, the buzzing bride-to-be, in the caption of a clip featuring her wild 'Will You Marry Me?' moment. 3 Kylie Erickson's engagement will forever be memorable thanks to the pole dancer, who posed for saucy snapshots just feet away from her proposal. Prostock-studio – Footage of the freaky scene, which has amassed over 1.3 million views from tickled TikTok watchers, sees Erickson, a marketing rep, accept her Romeo's ring as the waves of Wipeout Beach in San Diego, California, serve as their scenic backdrop. But just a few feet away from the lovebirds' picturesque display was the siren, swinging around on a portable stripper pole and striking steamy poses for her own photographer. Hey, it's her special day, too. 3 The unnamed dancer shimmied around her pole while a photographer took sexy outdoor pictures. Andrii – Heartwarming, yet head-turning, engagements are hotly en vogue thanks to the virality of social media and society's staggering obsession with the spotlight. Look! – And Erickson's outré occasion — although a complete coincidence, rather than a pre-planned setup for clout — is no exception to the trendy rule. 'This is an original experience,' raved a congratulatory commenter. 'Umm, so usually the bachelor party isn't immediately after the proposal,' a kidder wisecracked. 'Just two baddies in different stages of life,' another chimed, applauding both Erickson and the pole dancer for achieving their respective milestones. 'She was also engaging!!!!! In extreme amounts of core work and upper body strength,' teased a separate spectator. 'I think this should be the standard for all proposals,' argued another. 'Free entertainment' 'Maybe it's good omen,' a hopeful posed, to which Erickson wrote, 'I think so too.'

Dog Visits Vet, What Cat Siblings Do Once She's Home Goes Viral
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A German shepherd may be home safe after a vet's appointment, but her feline housemates aren't exactly rolling out the welcome mat. Racking up over 738,000 likes on TikTok (@romancedev), the video, posted on July 15, shows the dog sprawled out on the sofa, looking exhausted. But it is her cats' reactions that have caught the attention of internet users. One feline cautiously approaches for a sniff, while the other keeps a watchful distance, staring suspiciously from under a nearby chair. The scene ends with the more-cautious cat silently observing from the shadows—trying to figure out if this really is the same dog they knew before. As the caption puts it: "It's not her fault she smells different now." @romancedev Its not her fault she smells different now ♬ WTHELLY - Rob49 The clip may seem like classic feline drama, but animal behaviorists say there is more to it than meets the eye. The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) says that cats can experience a phenomenon called nonrecognition aggression. This behavior often occurs when one feline from a multi-cat household returns home after being away—such as a visit to the vet or groomer—and is suddenly treated like a stranger by the cat that stayed behind. The reason? Scent. The IAABC notes that the returning feline's scent is often masked by unfamiliar smells such as disinfectant, alcohol, iodine, or anesthetic gas from the vet's office. This loss of a shared "group scent" causes the other cats to see the returning pet as an outsider—and sometimes even a threat. While this phenomenon is said to be unique to felines, one commenter under the video shared: "My dogs and cats do it!!! It's like parts concern, anger, and afraid." How To Help Pets Reunite Peacefully Stock image: A cat sniffs a dog on indoor tiles. Stock image: A cat sniffs a dog on indoor tiles. Another posted: "The one under the table was almost convinced they gave them the wrong dog back." And a third asked: "Genuinely want to know what smell the vet office is pumping out that every animal is ready to square up with their pet sibling or act like they're strangers." Hearts Melt As Dog Teaches Mini Golden Doodle To Swim 'Just Like Her'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The heartwarming moment a goldendoodle became an adorable swimming coach to a puppy friend has delighted the internet in a viral video. Jade, 30, from London, shared the moment her dog, Isla, and her parents' puppy, Luna, enjoyed a swim in the pool. "We spend every weekend in Surrey at my parents house, and since she was 4 months old, Isla has been teaching Luna to swim," Jade, who didn't share her surname, told Newsweek. The bond between Luna and Isla is clear as the pair jump into the pool together, with Isla leading the way. The swim lessons have paid off too, with Luna now confidently diving into the water on her own. "Luna now launches herself off the steps and takes herself for a swim," Jade said. "She gets very jealous if we are in the pool too and she wants to join." Pictures of Isla and the puppy Luna enjoying the pool together. Pictures of Isla and the puppy Luna enjoying the pool together. @isladoodlebear/Instagram Their adventures aren't limited to Surrey. Luna often visits Jade in London, where the pair continue their splashy escapades around the capital. "They swim in the lakes around south west they love it. Best of friends," she said. Both dogs are miniature golden doodles, a mix of Golden Retriever and Miniature Poodle. This mix means it is little surprise that Isla and Luna enjoy swimming. Golden Retrievers were originally bred for retrieving game from water, while Poodles were also bred to be water retrievers and even have webbed feet. With more than 800,000 views on Instagram since being shared earlier this month, people couldn't get enough of the adorable moment in the comments. "This is the best thing I've seen all day," said one commenter. While another wrote: "I love how she doesn't take the puppy out too far." "This is amazing!!!! Wow love how attentive and sweet she is with the baby! Wonderful," said another animal lover. This isn't the first time a puppy's swimming skills have gained viral attention. Earlier this year a man shared the moment that caused equal parts panic and pride when his 14-week-old puppy launched himself into the backyard pool. Concerned, the owner instantly got ready to jump in after Zoro the dog, but to his amazement the puppy worked it out, paddling with ease to the side of the pool.
