Five AVLC cops held for kidnapping
Malir Cantt police raided the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) office in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, rescuing an abductee and arresting five AVLC personnel, including a sub-inspector. Reportedly, the victim, Madad Ali, had gone missing from near his residence in Bilawal Jokhio Goth. After failing to locate him, his family registered a complaint at the police station. Then, acting on intelligence, police raided the AVLC office and recovered Madad Ali, who had been detained on the station's rooftop for three days. The arrested personnel were identified as Constables Abdul Ghaffar, Riyaz, Khalid, Naeem, and Sub-Inspector Rashid Ali. They allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs500,000 from the victim's family for his release. Another individual reportedly involved was also taken into custody. During interrogation, the officers confessed to keeping the victim in illegal detention and attempting to extort ransom money. Further investigations are ongoing.

Proscribed outfits barred from hides collection
The Punjab Home Department has imposed a ban on 84 banned outfits from collecting sacrificial animal skins by roaming neighbourhoods across the province including Rawalpindi, using social media, or through their offices and homes. A circular regarding this ban has also been issued. The detailed data and list of all these banned organisations have been shared with the police stations across the Rawalpindi district, Special Branch, Civil Defence, and intelligence agencies. A warning notice has been issued stating that any violation of the ban, including attempts to collect or encourage the collection of skins, will result in cases being registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Palestinian detained in France after rabbi hit with chair
PARIS: A Palestinian man was taken into custody after he threw a chair at a rabbi on a cafe terrace in a wealthy Paris suburb, a police source told AFP, in an attack France's main Jewish association condemned as antisemitic. According to the source, the suspect attacked Rabbi Elie Lemmel in the western Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine. Lemmel, who wore a traditional kippah cap and a long beard, was taken to hospital with a head injury. The assailant was arrested.
