Hindu seers welcome Malegaon blast case verdict, demand apology from Congress
The court acquitted the accused, including former BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit, citing a lack of sufficient evidence under charges filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Arms Act, and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Seers alleged that the case was part of a political plot during the tenure of the UPA government to vilify Hindus using terms like "Hindu terrorism (Bhagwa atankwad)".
Swami Jitendranand Saraswati, General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti, told IANS, "Where there is righteousness, victory is bound to happen. The Malegaon blast case was extremely complex. During the UPA tenure, under Sonia and Rahul Gandhi's leadership, several honourable saints of the Hindu community were jailed for years."
"They suffered for 17 long years. This was a conspiracy hatched by the Congress against the Hindus of the nation. Congress should apologise. Hindus can never be terrorists," he added.
Mahant Raju Das, priest of Shri Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya, said, "This incident deeply hurt Hindu sentiments because the term 'Bhagwa atankwad' was used to defame us. With today's court verdict, all seven have been acquitted. Congress has been disgraced. Will Sonia Gandhi and other Congress leaders apologise for defaming seers and using such terminology?"
"Will they apologise for the 17 years these innocent people lost, for the torture they endured? We demand an apology from the Congress to all Hindus," he added.
Speaking to IANS, former Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said, "This was bound to happen because truth always triumphs. But the Congress, in its attempt to shield terrorists and shed tears over their deaths, dared to label a sacred part of Indian culture -- saffron -- as terrorism. In a way, the court's verdict is a self-inflicted slap on Congress."
Saints in Haridwar also welcomed the judgment and expressed gratitude towards the judiciary.
A saint said, "The verdict delivered by the NIA court is very good and impartial. We thank the NIA court. Today, on Tulsidas Jayanti, all seven innocent people, including our Sadhvi Pragya, have attained freedom after years of hardship. Hindus can never be terrorists and can never act against the country."
Another seer remarked, "This verdict is appropriate. It has exposed a long-running conspiracy against Hindus. We appreciate the court's judgment."
The verdict was announced in a packed courtroom, with all accused present as directed earlier by the court. The court also ordered compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each of the six deceased and Rs 50,000 to every injured victim.

Punjab Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa alleged on Friday that jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria had threatened to kill his son, who was also shot at. Randhawa did not specify when the incident occurred. 'Jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya has threatened to kill my son. One of my associates met my son and within one hour of leaving he was fired upon today,' Randhawa claimed in a post on X. The remarks follow ongoing tensions between Randhawa and Bhagwanpuria's family. The gangster's family had earlier alleged that Randhawa was involved in the killing of Bhagwanpuria's mother, Harjit Kaur, on June 26. Kaur died from gunshot injuries in what police described as a targeted attack by members of a rival group. The police are yet to issue an official statement on Randhawa's latest allegations. Meanwhile, reacting to Randhawa's allegations, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring slammed the 'complete collapse of law and order in Punjab'. 'A gangster has the audacity to threaten a senior @INCIndia leader and a former Deputy Chief Minister and a sitting MP, from inside the jail!!! Imagine the plight of a common people in Punjab. They are at the mercy of the gangsters only. This reflects complete collapse of law and order in Punjab,' he said in a Facebook post. 'Nobody feels safe. @AamAadmiParty has destroyed Punjab. We in @INCPunjab will not be intimidated. As @Sukhjinder_INC Sahab has said it simple and straight. But that does not mean @AAPPunjab government can run away from its responsibility. @BhagwantMann,' Warring added. Meanwhile, the ED is also conducting searches in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata in connection with a fake bank guarantee racket. The agency filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) based on a case registered by Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing on November 11, 2024. Earlier, the agency carried out coordinated raids in connection with financial irregularities and alleged diversion of over Rs 10,000 crore in loans by various group companies associated with Ambani. According to ED sources, the investigation primarily revolves around the alleged diversion of approximately Rs 3,000 crore in loans extended by Yes Bank to Ambani's companies between 2017 and 2019. Officials said searches covered more than 35 locations in Mumbai, spanning 50 companies and 25 individuals. A Delhi-based ED unit is leading the investigation under the PMLA.

India cannot remain ‘mute spectator' as institutions like WTO are destroyed: Congress
The Congress on Friday asserted that India has the highest stakes in institutions such as the WTO and WHO which are being 'destroyed' and 'gutted' by US President Donald Trump, and cannot remain a mute spectator while being content with coining slogans and acronyms. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the World Trade Organisation (WTO) had been dealt very heavy blows during Trump-I. 'It has been destroyed during Trump-II. The rules-based, multilateral trading system put in place with the US itself playing a leadership role has been finished off,' Ramesh claimed. The US's approach now is to negotiate–if at all–bilaterally but finally decide unilaterally, the Congress leader said in a post on X. President Trump has also gutted the WHO and withdrawn from the Paris Climate Agreement and UNESCO, Ramesh said. 'India has the highest stakes in such international accords and institutions. It cannot remain a mute spectator and be content with coining slogans and acronyms,' Ramesh said. His remarks came after President Trump issued an executive order listing the various duties that Washington will impose on exports from countries around the world. India will face tariffs of 25 per cent on its exports to the US. The executive order, however, does not mention the penalty that Trump had said India will have to pay because of its purchases of Russian military equipment and energy. On Wednesday, Trump, through a post on his social media website Truth Social, announced the 25 per cent tariff on India and an additional penalty for New Delhi's purchases from Russia. While August 1 was the tariff deadline, the new levies will come into effect from August 7. In April, Trump had announced that India will face a 26 per cent discounted reciprocal tariff, a per cent higher than the rate announced now. In its reaction to the US' tariff announcement, India has said it will take all necessary steps to safeguard and promote national interest and that the implications of the tariffs are being examined.
