Bogota:
Maria Jose Estupinan Sanchez, a 22-year-old social media influencer, was fatally shot outside her home in Cucuta, Colombia, earlier this week. Sanchez was at home in the La Riviera neighbourhood when a man posing as a deliveryman approached her with a fake present and shot her from close range, local media outlet Noticias Caracol reported.

Per the report, Sanchez was rushed to the hospital soon after the incident but succumbed to her injuries later. The incident happened around 1:00 PM local time, according to police.
"She was killed by a man who pretended to be delivering a package," Colonel Leonardo Capacho of Cucuta's Metropolitan Police said.
The attack on the influencer came a day after she reportedly won a domestic abuse case against her ex-boyfriend, securing a payout of 30 million COP (approximately USD 7,000), local media reports said. Authorities are now probing the ex-boyfriend as a key suspect as they believe the courtroom win might have any connection to her murder, per a report by Canal TRO.
However, no arrests have been confirmed so far. Police are looking for the prime suspect seen in security footage wearing a black cap with a jacket, jeans, and a backpack.
Sanchez, a seventh-semester student studying Social Communication at the University of Pamplona, frequently posted about her life as a model and a student on social media, earning her many followers.
The attack on Sanchez came days after Mexican influencer Valeria Marquez was fatally shot during a live stream. The TikTokker was also targeted by a man posing as a deliveryman. Her murder was labelled a 'Femicide' and is being investigated.

Tens of thousands join anti-government protest in Madrid
Tens of thousands of people rallied Sunday (June 8, 2025) in an opposition-organised demonstration in Madrid, accusing the government of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez of corruption. Protesters, many waving red and yellow Spanish flags, massed in the Plaza de Espana, a large square in the centre of the Spanish capital, and chanted 'Perdo Sanchez, resign!'. The Popular Party (PP) called the rally after leaked audio recordings allegedly documented a member of the Socialist party, Leire Diez, waging a smear campaign against a police unit that investigated graft allegations against Mr. Sanchez's wife, brother, and his former right-hand man. Ms. Diez has denied the allegations, telling reporters on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) that she was conducting research for a book and was not working on behalf of the party or Mr. Sanchez. She also resigned from Mr. Sanchez's Socialist party. PP leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo has accused the government of 'mafia practices' over the affair, and said Mr. Sanchez is 'at the centre' of multiple corruption scandals. 'This government has stained everything – politics, state institutions, the separation of powers,' he told the rally, going on to urge Mr. Sanchez to call early elections. The PP estimated that more than 100,000 people attended the rally, held under the slogan 'Mafia or Democracy.' The central government's representative in Madrid put the turnout between 45,000 and 50,000. 'The expiry date on this government passed a long time ago. It's getting tiring,' Blanca Requejo, a 46-year-old store manager who wore a Spanish flag draped over her back, told AFP at the rally. Mr. Sanchez has dismissed the probes against members of his inner circle as part of a 'smear campaign' carried out by the right wing to undermine his government. He came to power in June 2018 after ousting his PP predecessor, Mariano Rajoy, in a no-confidence vote over a corruption scandal affecting involving the conservative party. Recent polls show the PP holding only a slim lead over the Socialists. The next general election is expected in 2027.

Fireworks and stones thrown at police, Trump sends 2000 National Guards as violent protests start in Los Angeles, reason is...
Protesters, law enforcement exchange fireworks and tear gas in Los Angeles- Reuters Los Angeles: In a significant turn of events from the United States of America, fireworks exploded outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles on June 7) and law enforcement personnel fired less lethal rounds at protesters as the city entered a second straight night of demonstrations against immigration raids, as per a report by news agency Reuters. The security agents confronted around 100 protesters, where some demonstrators displayed Mexican flags and others covered their mouths with respiratory masks. President Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, told Fox News that the National Guard would be deployed in Los Angeles on Saturday evening. As a result of the action, President Donald Trump has sent 2000 National Guards to control the situation. California Governor Gavin Newsom called the decision 'purposefully inflammatory.' 'If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles , can't do their jobs, which everyone knows they can't, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!' Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. The protests pit Democratic-run Los Angeles , where census data suggests a significant portion of the population is Hispanic and foreign-born, against Trump's Republican White House, which has made cracking down on immigration a hallmark of his second term.
