Trump Goes Off On His Own MAGA Base: 'I Don't Want Their Support Anymore!'

Yahoo16-07-2025
President Donald Trump on Wednesday seemed furious at members of his own MAGA base critical of his administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, accusing them of falling prey to a 'hoax' and declaring that he doesn't 'want their support anymore.'
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump blamed his fans for showing interest in the Epstein probe despite his repeated pleas for them to move on.
'Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this 'bullshit,' hook, line, and sinker,' Trump said. 'They haven't learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.'
The president expressed frustration that the controversy is continuing to dominate the news cycle, while lashing out at his supporters for giving the 'success starved Dems' a reason to celebrate.
'Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don't even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don't want their support anymore!' Trump added.
Trump failed to mention that it was his own team who fueled his base's interest in the files, as Attorney General Pam Bondi told Fox News in February that Epstein's client list 'was sitting on [her] desk.'
A subsequent memo released by her department and the FBI this month claiming that there was no evidence to suggest Epstein was killed or that he kept a client list inevitably angered his base, causing political headaches for the president and his team.
Bondi on Tuesday dodged questions about Epstein, claiming that the 'memo speaks for itself.'
Trump has defended Bondi repeatedly, including over the weekend when he asked his followers to stop attacking her, saying that she was doing a 'FANTASTIC job.'
'We're on one Team, MAGA, and I don't like what's happening,' he wrote on Saturday. 'We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and 'selfish people' are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein.'
Still, the Epstein files controversy is unlikely to go away. Even House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), a staunch Trump ally, said 'we should put everything out there and let the people decide,' telling conservative podcaster Benny Johnson that Bondi should further explain her February statement.
Epstein died in federal prison one month after being arrested on charges of sex trafficking minors in 2019, during Trump's first term in office. While Trump has tried to distance himself from Epstein, the two men had a well-documented, yearslong friendship.

Planned Parenthood closes 5 Northern California clinics, citing Trump budget bill

President Donald Trump's budget cuts to Medicaid have forced Planned Parenthood Mar Monte to shutter five clinics across Northern California and the Central Coast, including one in South San Francisco, the group said Thursday. The GOP-led federal spending bill that Trump signed into law earlier this month eliminated federal Medicaid funding for any type of medical care to organizations that perform abortions. Mar Monte is the largest Planned Parenthood affiliate in the country, with health care centers from Bakersfield, the Bay Area, Stockton and Sacramento. The now-shuttered facilities also include San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Gilroy and Madera. The closures represent the first wave of how the recent federal budget cuts will have real-life consequences for health clinics across the country — particularly for low-income Americans. They are also a crushing blow to a state that set it up to be an abortion haven after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. In the year after the decision, political leaders in California — led by Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Democratic-controlled Legislature — passed more than a dozen new laws and invested more than $200 million to increase access across the state. Thursday's announcement drives home the extent of the federal government's tremendous power to impact abortion access. Roughly 80% of Mar Monte's patients received Medi-Cal, California's version of Medicaid. Ten million people are expected to lose their health insurance because of nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts over the next decade in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Meanwhile, the wealthiest Americans will receive a disproportionate share of the tax cuts funded by those cuts, according to the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. In just one week since Mar Monte stopped billing Medicaid, the Planned Parenthood affiliate with 35 locations said it saw 5,000 patients — amounting to about $1.7 million in care costs it covered without reimbursement — Mar Monte Chief of Staff Andrew Adams told the Chronicle Thursday. 'It's just not sustainable,' said Adams. 'We can't keep our doors open if we continue doing that.' Mar Monte said the funding law also forced it to end services in family medicine, behavioral health and prenatal care. The Planned Parenthood affiliate estimates it will lose $100 million in annual revenue from care that can no longer be reimbursed under the law because they provide abortion care. Americans tend to support abortion rights, according to public polling. A May 2025 Gallup Poll found that 51% of respondents described themselves as 'pro choice' while 43% described themselves as 'pro life.'Of those respondents who said they were 'dissatisfied' with the nation's abortion polices, 42% said they would like to see them made 'less strict' while 14% wanted them to be 'stricter.'

Karl Rove on Trump, Epstein saga: ‘There's hell to pay'

Republican strategist Karl Rove said in a new opinion piece for The Wall Street Journal, 'there's hell to pay' surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the saga around the Epstein files. 'Attorney General Pam Bondi, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino—all members in good standing of MAGA world—said there was no client list of powerful figures in politics, finance and media,' Rove wrote in his Wednesday piece. 'They also confirmed Epstein wasn't killed by a Deep State hit squad at midnight in a federal prison but committed suicide. Many in MAGA reacted with incredulity and anger at Mr. Trump, the attorney general and the FBI leadership. There's hell to pay when those who hyped the conspiracy have closed the books on the case,' he added. Right-wing influencers who had long pushed conspiracy theories about Epstein turned their fury toward the Trump administration, especially Attorney General Pam Bondi, due to a recent Justice Department memo that dispelled many of the theories. Last week, President Trump admonished and sought to distance himself from backers who have pushed for additional information about documents related to Epstein. In a Truth Social post, the president dismissed the uproar due to the Epstein files as a 'scam' pushed by Democrats and suggested he no longer welcomed his supporters who have called for extra transparency around the documents. 'Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this 'bulls‑‑‑,' hook, line, and sinker,' Trump said in his post. 'They haven't learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.'
