Ford recalls more than 694,000 Bronco Sport, Escape vehicles due to fuel injector issue

Independent7 days ago
Ford is recalling more than 694,000 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles because the fuel injector may crack and leak, which may cause a fire.
If fuel leaks inside the engine compartment and there's a hot engine or exhaust components, it could increase the risk of a fire.
The recall impacts certain 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Escape vehicles equipped with 1.5L engines.
Ford has been looking into the fuel injector issue since 2022, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The company's field review committee approved recalls in November 2022, March 2024 and March 2025, during which it performed software updates.
Ford has continued to investigate the issue. As part of the ongoing process, the automaker looked at corrosion as a contributing factor to fuel injector cracks between April and May 2025.
Ford identified injector cracking on eight vehicles that experienced underhood fires. Six of the vehicles didn't have updated engine control software. The automaker isn't aware of any injuries related to the fires.
Earlier this month Ford's field review committee decided to issue a recall for certain vehicles to update their engine control software for free until a final remedy is available.
A letter notifying vehicle owners of the safety risk is expected to be mailed on Aug. 18. A second letter will be sent once the final remedy is available. Vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 25S76.

Bubba Wallace wins Brickyard 400 to become Indy's first Black winner

Bubba Wallace became the first Black driver to win on Indianapolis Motor Speedway's 2.5-mile oval, surviving a late rain delay, two overtimes, concerns over running out of fuel and a hard-charging Kyle Larson on Sunday in the Brickyard 400. The third NASCAR Cup victory of Wallace's career was also his biggest. It snapped a 100-race winless streak that dated to 2022 at Kansas. He also won at Talladega in 2021. It's his first win at one of NASCAR's four crown jewel races. 'Unbelievable,' Wallace shouted on his radio after crossing the yard of bricks. And while the final gap was 0.222 seconds, he didn't reach victory lane without some consternation. Larson trailed by 5.057 seconds with 14 laps to go but the gap was down to about three seconds with six remaining when the yellow flag came out because of rain. The cars rolled to a stop on pit lane with four to go, giving Wallace about 20 additional minutes to think and rethink his restart strategy. But after beating Larson through the second turn, a crash behind the leaders forced a second overtime, extending the race even more laps as Wallace's team thought he might run out of gas. Wallace risked everything by staying on the track then beat the defending race winner off the restart again to prevent Larson from becoming the fourth back-to-back winner of the Brickyard. It also alleviated the frustration Wallace felt Saturday when he spent most of the qualifying session on the provisional pole only to see Chase Briscoe surpass with one of the last runs in the session. He made sure there was no repeat Sunday, giving an added boost to the 23XI Racing co-owned by basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and last week's race winner, Denny Hamlin, as it continues to battle NASCAR in court over its charter status. ___

View post: Japanese Car Prices Are About to Go Up in the U.S. The Tesla Roadster is a vastly different machine from today's Teslas There's a lot that can be said about Tesla as a company today, but the Tesla Roadster is largely an exception to those criticisms. Based on a Lotus Elise chassis, the automaker's first car was both sleek and impressive, and this 2008 example on Exotic Car Trader with 1,821 miles is a relatively rare sighting of a Tesla Roadster on the open market. 0:01 / 0:09 2024 Kia EV6 GT-Line review: Is this the EV that will convert you? Watch More The Roadster was an impressive machine when it was released, being the first highway-legal production car to use lithium-ion batteries, with a 53 kWh pack onboard. Charging time varies, but if one uses a 240 V charger on a 90 A circuit breaker, Tesla claimed a recharging rate of 56 miles added per hour. The electric motor produces 248 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque, which are sent to the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission. Tesla quoted a 0-60 mph time of around four seconds, which is nothing to scoff at, especially in 2008. Regenerative braking is present, of course, and the Roadster sports both front and rear independent suspension. The EPA gave it a 244-mile range, which isn't great by today's standards but was a good number back then. 2008 Tesla Roadster — Source: Exotic Car Trader The Roadster had some tricks up its sleeve Uniquely, the body panels are all carbon fiber, keeping the weight down for both performance and range-related reasons. The NHTSA also granted the Roadster a waiver from the advantage two-stage airbag rule, allowing Tesla to use standard airbags instead. While that may seem unheard of in the modern world, similar waivers are given to small-volume automakers like Lotus, Ferrari, and Bugatti. The interior is a relatively sparse, but still attractive, and frankly, a massive step-up from modern Tesla interiors. The tan leather seats match the door panel inserts, while the center console houses a 'gear' shifter, controls for the HVAC system, and two buttons for the seat heaters. Above that is a JVC head unit complete with built-in navigation. The cluster is relatively standard, other than the fact that it still has an RPM gauge that goes up to 13,000 RPM. I think more EVs should have rev counters, despite their comparatively useless nature. While modern Teslas are a common sight on today's roads, only 2,450 Roadsters were built in four years, making this one that much more desirable. Tesla sold Roadsters directly to customers online, in 13 showrooms, and over the phone in North America and Europe. 2008 Tesla Roadster 2008 Tesla Roadster Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. Final thoughts Tesla Roadsters aren't a common sight on the road or the second-hand market, so if you've been looking for one, this one on Exotic Car Trader is a must-have. Of course, with such credentials and only 1,821 miles on the odometer, the $225,000 asking price of this one is to be expected. Not only will you be driving one of the first mainstream electric sports cars, but you'll be driving one built on the back of an Elise. Is that something you can really put a price on? Firefighters tackle ‘significant' factory fire blaze as 20 tonnes of tyres go up in smoke

Firefighters are battling a 'significant' blaze at a factory after 20 tonnes of tyres reportedly caught fire in the West Midlands. More than 70 firefighters have been at the factory on Great Bridge Street, between Tipton and West Bromwich, after West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) was called to the scene around 10.40am. Seventeen fire engines have been sent to the site, along with several specialist resources. No casualties have been reported. Members of the public warned to stay away from the area, as the fire has sent a thick plume of smoke into the air. One social media user posted on X that it could be seen from as far away as Bilston, about four miles away. The fire involves a single story unit measuring 100 m by 100 m, WMFS said. They added that good progress was being made in tackling the blaze, with support from police and the ambulance service. Firefighters are working to prevent the fire spreading and to contain the blaze. A drone team was on site alongside a hydraulic aerial platform and a high volume pump team. Local residents and businesses have been advised to keep doors and windows closed, as there is large volumes of smoke in the area. Representatives from National Grid, Severn Trent, the Environment Agency and Sandwell Council were also at the scene. A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: 'We have 15 crews in attendance at Great Bridge Street, Great Bridge, where they have responded to a Factory Fire. Please avoid the area, where possible.'
