May 19 (Reuters) - Canada Post said on Monday it had received notices from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) indicating that the union would begin strike activity from Friday, days after the postal company paused contract negotiation talks.
The strike notices were received from the CUPW's urban and rural bargaining units.
In case of a nationwide strike, the postal company said it would not accept any new items until the disruption was over, and mail and parcels would not be delivered.

10 facts McDonald's employees won't tell you
Published: | While McDonald's is the most popular fast food restaurant in the world, that doesn't mean to say that customers know everyone about the chain. In fact, employees often have to gatekeep certain facts that could change your Maccy Dees experience. Here are all the things that McDonald's employees won't tell you but secretly want to... Drive-throughs can only serve people in cars. Meaning that customers on bicycles and electric scooters have to go into the physical restaurant to order their food. This rule is for the overall road safety of customers. Gloves are not mandatory but don't freak out! While McDonald's employees are not required to wear gloves - the rubber can hold onto a lot more bacteria than clean fingers - they follow a strict rule of washing their hands at least every hour. Not everyone gets hired. It's a common misconception that anybody could work at Maccy Dees. The popular food chain actually turns down a lot of people during the hiring process. Do not sit down! If you think it's easy to work as a McDonald's employee, think again. The job is very hands-on and labor-intensive given the company's strict 'no-sitting' policy. As a result after a long shift, employees are left with sore feet and lower back pain. Before you start to assume that being employed at McDonald's is all work and no play, there are some great benefits. For example, companies like and Apple offer McDonald's employees awesome discounts. Top quality meat! You might be surprised to know that McDonald's burgers are made of Grade A beef. In fact, the only ingredients that employees need to add are salt and pepper. Here's why you should always ask for a receipt with your order... People are actually paid to visit Maccy Dees and rate their customer experience online before getting a full reimbursement. If you ask for your receipt, it could tip off employees into thinking you were hired to try the food and thus you'll get the best service possible. Sauce galore! If your meal happens to come with a sauce that you don't like, don't worry because you can just ask for an alternative sauce - perhaps Sweet and Sour or Honey Mustard - and it won't cost you a dime! McDonald's don't charge extra for sauces so you can enjoy an array of flavors. Here's why the ice cream machine is always broken... If the mixes for McFlurries or milkshakes are poured in the wrong sections, the entire machine could be compromised for the day. The egg McMuffins are made with real eggs. For whatever reason, many people don't think McMuffins are made with real and fresh ingredients but that is just not the case. In fact, Maccy Dees workers crack the eggs themselves and use special rings on the grill to achieve the McMuffin's perfectly round shape.

Wells Fargo says consumer loan growth to stay muted or drop this year
NEW YORK, June 10 (Reuters) - Wells Fargo's (WFC.N), opens new tab Chief Financial Officer Mike Santomassimo said consumer loan growth is likely to remain muted for the rest of the year and could potentially slide. "I wouldn't expect large growth on the consumer side in any way, potentially even a net decline," Santomassimo told investors at a conference on Tuesday. It was a bit more difficult to predict growth in commercial loans, given uncertainty over U.S. tariff policies. The CFO spoke days after the Federal Reserve released Wells Fargo from a seven-year, $1.95 trillion cap on its assets imposed as a punishment in the wake of the bank's fake accounts scandal. The lender plans to focus on growing most of its businesses, including credit cards, investment banking, wealth management and commercial banking, CEO Charlie Scharf told Reuters in an interview last week. It is also seeing signs of improvement in dealmaking, Santomassimo said. "We are starting to see a little bit of share growth" in investment banking, he said. "We are certainly seeing lots of green shoots in terms of deals that we just wouldn't have been a part of earlier." Dealmaking has slowed this year as U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff and fiscal policies roiled markets, fueling economic uncertainty. Still, bank executives have expressed optimism about a resurgence. Citigroup's (C.N), opens new tab head of banking Vis Raghavan told the same conference that discussions for mergers and acquisitions continue to be "super active."

Disney to pay almost $439 million to take full control of streaming service Hulu
Disney will pay Comcast 's NBCUniversal nearly $439 million for its stake in Hulu, taking full control of the streaming service. The move closes out an appraisal process that's dragged on for a few years. Disney said in November 2023 that it was acquiring a 33% stake in Hulu from Comcast for at least $8.6 billion. That amount reflected Hulu's guaranteed floor value of $27.5 billion, according to a regulatory filing. Disney has run Hulu since 2019, when Comcast ceded its authority to Disney and effectively became a silent partner. Hulu began in 2007 and quickly evolved into as a service backed by entertainment conglomerates who hoped to stave off the internet with an online platform for their own TV shows. Disney joined in 2009, planning to offer shows from ABC, ESPN and the Disney Channel. A decade later, Disney gained majority control of the business when it acquired 21st Century Fox. Disney said in a regulatory filing on Monday that its appraiser arrived at a valuation below the guaranteed floor value during the initial phase of the appraisal process, while NBCUniversal's appraiser arrived at a valuation substantially in excess of the guaranteed floor value. A third appraiser was brought in and concluded that The Walt Disney Co. will pay $438.7 million for the Hulu stake. 'We are pleased this is finally resolved. We have had a productive partnership with NBCUniversal, and we wish them the best of luck," Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement. "Completing the Hulu acquisition paves the way for a deeper and more seamless integration of Hulu's general entertainment content with Disney+ and, soon, with ESPN's direct-to-consumer product, providing an unrivaled value proposition for consumers.' The transaction is anticipated to close by July 24. It's not expected to impact Disney's fiscal 2025 adjusted earnings forecast. Shares of Disney rose slightly in morning trading on Tuesday.
