The North Londoners are very close to appointing Brentford boss Thomas Frank as his successor.
Yet the decision to axe the Aussie is understood to have left many of the players disappointed given the success they enjoyed in Europe.

'So, if you look at it that way, it's definitely a strange decision.
'But it's a decision made by the club, and we don't have much say in that, so we'll see what happens next.
'We're of course seeing some rumpus about the Brentford manager likely becoming the next one.
'So yes, it's a decision by the club that we don't have much influence over.'

Daniel Levy decided to wield the axe after an awful Premier League campaign which saw Spurs finish 17th.

And yet Postecoglou ended the club's silverware curse with their Europa win, which also got them back into the Champions League.

Most of the Spurs squad have been effusive in their praise of Postecoglou on social media following his sacking and what he did for them as players and as people.
Van de Ven, who missed much of the league campaign through injury, added: 'I think a lot of players had a good relationship with him.
Ange Breaks Silence On Tottenham Sacking
ANGE Postecoglou issued a statement just moments after being axed.
It read: "When I reflect on my time as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride.
"The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime.
"Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget.
"That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream.
"There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible.
"We have also laid the foundations that means this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success.
"I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters.
"I know there were some difficult times, but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on.
"It's important to acknowledge the hard working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis.
"And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years.
"A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special.
'We are forever connected. Audere est Facere.'
'And of course, like I said, he was the first coach in a long time to bring success to Spurs.
'That also shows he has a certain quality. It also means he has a winning mentality - one hundred per cent.

'So from that point of view, you'd naturally say it's strange that he was sacked.
'But of course, what we showed in the league was unacceptable.
'That, however, could have been due to several factors… it wouldn't have just been the coach.'

Everton interested in signing Evan Ferguson from Brighton

Ireland striker Evan Ferguson could be allowed to leave Brighton permanently after his loan at West Ham. Everton are among those thought to be interested in the forward, who has fallen out of favour at the club. Ferguson had a difficult loan spell with the Hammers, where he played just eight games and failed to score. The 20-year-old has endured a difficult time in the Premier League since a cruciate ligament tear in April 2024. In 2023, he scored 15 goals for Brighton and was worth €65 million on but his value has fallen to €25 million. Elsewhere, Kevin De Bruyne has completed his move to Napoli on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City. The 26-year-old has a five-year contract with the option of a further year and will be paid about £150,000 a week. Cunha said: 'It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. 'I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality. I can't wait for the start of preseason to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead. All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top.' – Guardian

Cork City bolster defensive ranks with signing of Fiacre Kelleher

Cork City have snapped up Irish centre-half Fiacre Kelleher on a long-term contract following his departure from Colchester United. City boss Ger Nash has made Kelleher - the older brother of Republic of Ireland No. 1 Caoimhín - his first signing since taking over the managerial reins from Tim Clancy. 29-year-old Kelleher - a former Ireland underage international - has spent the last three seasons at League Two outfit Colchester United, making over 60 appearances, and will join City on July 1. The 6ft 3in Leesider began his career with Avondale United, before signing for Celtic in 2012. Since then, he has represented a number of clubs in the English Football League pyramid, making almost 300 career appearances. Experienced defender Kelleher will be tasked with adding some steel to the City defence, as Nash looks to steer his side to a surge up the table in the second-half of the League of Ireland Premier Division campaign. "It's been a few weeks in the pipeline, so it's nice to get something sorted, and it's something to look forward to come the first of July," Kelleher said. "I've known Ger since I was first on trial in Ipswich years ago, so the minute he phoned me and we had a conversation, I was really excited and keen to get something done." City boss Nash added: "We're getting a very good, experienced player in Fiacre. He's played a lot of football at a good level across the water. "What's really important is type of man that we're getting. I've known Fiacre for a long time. He's had offers and opportunities from clubs in England, but he's desperate to be here, and to play for Cork City. He's really passionate about the club. He's given up a lot to come to us, and we're delighted to have him. He walks into the dressing room as someone who cares passionately about the club." The older Kelleher's move comes hot on the heels of Caomhín's multi-million euro move from Premier League champions Liverpool to Brentford.
