Spain replaces women's team coach Montse Tomé with Sonia Bermúdez
Montse Tomé will not have her contract renewed and will be replaced by former player Sonia Bermúdez, the Spanish soccer federation said Monday.
Another former Spain player, Iraia Iturregi, was named the team's second coach.
The decision was made by the federation's board members after Tomé led Spain to the Euro 2025 final, which it lost to England in a penalty shootout on July 27.
Tomé replaced former coach Jorge Vilda following the team's World Cup title in 2023. She led Spain to the title of the inaugural Women's Nations League in 2024. Her current contract with the national team was valid until the end of the month.
Tomé was the first woman to coach the senior women's team in Spain. She had been an assistant to Vilda during the World Cup and was promoted in the fallout of former federation president Luis Rubiales' nonconsensual kiss of player Jenni Hermoso during the World Cup's awards ceremony in Australia.

Adu admits he was put on notice by Ngumoha's early strike in the friendly victory over Athletic Club at Anfield last week and the now 37-year-old has some words of advice for an England youth international whose reputation is beginning to soar. "So I didn't know much about him as a player until I heard about him because of the game against Athletic Bilbao," Adu, speaking exclusively to epl odds said. "But for him to be able to do that at the age of 16, that's impressive. "For any 16-year-old to do that, that's not by accident, especially doing it for a club like Liverpool. That's not by accident. "For you to be able to do that at that age, you clearly have to be uber talented and for him, I would say the same thing as I would say for Lamine Yamal - just keep the main thing, the main thing. "Keep it about football. Don't make it about anything else. People are going to sing your praises when you do well, and the same people are going to just pile on you when you're not doing well. "So you can't get too high and you can't get too low, you gotta sort of keep an even keel. Keep your head down, keep doing exactly what you were doing that got you to where you are." Florian Thauvin joins Lens from Udinese
RC Lens have confirmed the signing of Florian Thauvin (32) from Udinese on a contract that will tie him to the club until 2028. Thauvin returns to a league that he is intimately familiar with, having made 289 appearances and scored 86 goals across stints with SC Bastia and Olympique de Marseille. The 2018 World Cup winner was also on the books for Lens's bitter rivals, Lille OSC, but strangely enough, his time with Les Dogues will likely have done him more favours in the eyes of the Lensois faithful. The Frenchman joined Lille from Bastia midway through the 2012/13 season and was loaned immediately back to the Corsican club. In the 2013 summer transfer window, the forward then signed for Marseille in acrimonious circumstances, with Thauvin later telling Le Media Carré, 'They made me look like the bad guy, but I was used as a bargaining chip. I never played for the club, and they made €10m on me.' Lakers have hired a new strength and conditioning coach
Just after the Los Angeles Lakers were knocked out of the 2025 NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves in May, coach JJ Redick said publicly that everyone on the roster needed to get into "championship shape" for the following season. The comment was widely seen as directed at Luka Doncic, and Doncic has done his part by getting into fantastic shape and reportedly losing 30 pounds since last summer. Now, the Lakers have reportedly hired a new strength and conditioning coach, and that hire is someone who has some history with Doncic. His name is Jeremy Holsopple, and he used to be the Dallas Mavericks' athletic performance director. Holsopple apparently got along well with Doncic, and he was named the NBA's Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2021. However, he was fired by the Mavericks shortly after they lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals. This appears to be another example of the Lakers organization looking to cater to Doncic and help him be as happy, healthy and fit as possible. A happy, healthy and fit Doncic is the version of Doncic who would be most capable of leading the team to at least one NBA championship in the coming years.
