It also said passengers affected by flight disruptions were attended to in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Options including full refunds or alternate flight arrangements were offered by the respective airlines, and airport teams were on ground to assist with other support.
Increased security measures
Pune airport has put in place additional security measures as a precautionary step to ensure safety of passengers, personnel and critical aviation infrastructure. In a press note, the airport authorities said surveillance across all aviation-related installations within and around the airport premises has been intensified.
It added that scrutiny of Passenger Name Records (PNR) and cargo manifests had been increased. For secure boarding, Secondary Ladder Point Checking (SLPC) has been made compulsory for all flights. The airport said it had increased vehicle and personnel checks at airport approach roads, terminal entrances and parking areas. Security at the cityside of the airport has been intensified through close coordination with police.
Passengers will be also subjected to random baggage checks before entering the terminal, while the baggage screening process through the In-Line Baggage Handling System (ILBHS) is now under heightened monitoring and supervision. Additional precautions are in place for cargo operations, including increased Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) checks for consignments and reinforced surveillance at cargo terminals.
Passengers are advised to arrive at airports well ahead of the scheduled time to be able to complete the security check process in time.

Aviation Watchdog To Probe Highway Landing Of Chopper Headed To Kedarnath

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will carry out an investigation into the emergency landing made by a private helicopter carrying pilgrims to Kedarnath. The chopper landed on a highway near the Bharasu helipad in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district on Saturday afternoon due to a suspected technical fault, and all passengers on board are safe, said officials. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was informed of the incident. A team from the Directorate of Air Safety (North Region) is being dispatched to the site for an on-ground assessment of the aircraft and the cause of the malfunction. Officials said the helicopter has been secured at the site and further investigation will reveal the exact cause of the suspected control malfunction. Soon after take-off, the pilot, Captain RPS Sodhi, detected a suspected malfunction in the helicopter's collective control - a critical component that manages the aircraft's lift. In response, he executed a precautionary hard landing on a road just below the Bharasu helipad. According to Uttarakhand ADG (Law and Order) Dr V Murugesan, all passengers on board are safe. The pilot reported a backache after the landing and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. "There is no report of any casualties. The situation was handled efficiently, and the pilot made a safe landing," he said. The CEO of the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) confirmed that the helicopter, while flying from Sirsi with passengers, opted to land on a road near the helipad instead of returning to or landing on the designated helipad itself. The helicopter, an AW119 operated by Kestrel Aviation Private Limited (registration VT-RNK), is a single-engine model designed for high-altitude operations. It is part of the fleet used for shuttle services to Kedarnath during the annual Char Dham Yatra. These services are especially vital during peak pilgrimage season, allowing devotees to access the Himalayan shrine with relative ease and speed. The UCADA CEO confirmed that all other helicopter operations to Kedarnath are proceeding as per schedule and there has been no disruption.

Consumer court asks rlys to pay 2.3L to Behala family for delay

1 2 3 Kolkata: The state consumer disputes redressal commission ordered railway authorities to compensate Rs 1 lakh in addition to the cost of air fares to Raghunath Chakraborty, a Behala resident, whose 12-member family missed their Kolkata-bound flight from Delhi due to the delayed Kerala Sampark Kranti Express. They had to purchase new flight tickets for Rs 1,38,281. The bench with Ajeya Matilal and Nityasundar Trivedi instructed the railway board chairman and Northern Railway GM to pay Rs 1 lakh compensation and reimburse Rs 1.3 lakh, and also cover litigation costs of Rs 10,000. On June 14, 2017, Chakraborty's family travelled from Chandigarh to Delhi to catch their 5.50 pm Jet Airways flight to Kolkata. They boarded the 9 am train from Chandigarh, scheduled to reach Delhi by 1.20 pm. However, the Kerala Sampark Kranti Express arrived at Delhi at 5 pm, causing them to miss their flight. Subsequently, they booked Indigo airline tickets costing Rs 1.3 lakh. In their appeal, the family said they had no choice but to purchase last-minute flight tickets. Though they filed a plaint in the district forum citing service deficiency, it was rejected. Railways defended the delay, citing track welding work for passenger safety. Citing an SC verdict, it determined service deficiency and held railways liable for compensation, stating: "Citizens/passengers cannot be at the mercy of the authorities. Somebody has to accept responsibility." The court rejected the safety-related excuse and advised that routine track maintenance should be organised to prevent delays and passenger inconvenience.
