SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (SDSU) — The South Dakota State women's basketball team will take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a nonconference contest November 20 at the Sanford Pentagon. The on-sale date for tickets will be announced later. 'This is a resume-building matchup that is going to stand out on the schedule for both teams,' said Jesse Smith, vice president of operations for Sanford Sports. 'The energy in the Sanford Pentagon always rises when the Jackrabbits play here, and Gonzaga is a national brand with a passionate fan base.' The Jackrabbits won the Summit League Championship last season and received a No. 10 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. SDSU defeated No. 7 seed Oklahoma State 74-68, before falling to eventual national champion Connecticut in the second round. The Jackrabbits are 1-2 all-time at the Sanford Pentagon. 'We are excited to return to the Pentagon next season. The Pentagon is a terrific facility, and the staff provides a first-class experience,' said South Dakota State Head Coach Aaron Johnston. 'Gonzaga has a strong tradition of success and will be a great early-season test for the Jackrabbits.' Gonzaga won the West Coast Conference regular season title for the 20th time last season, finishing with a 24-11 record. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the WBIT Tournament, where they fell to eventual champion Minnesota. The Bulldogs are 1-1 all-time at the Sanford Pentagon. They defeated South Dakota 54-50 and lost to No. 1 South Carolina 79-72 during the 2-day 2020 Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic. 'The Sanford Pentagon is a great facility and always puts on high level events,' said Gonzaga Head Coach Lisa Fortier. 'We have a ton of respect for the South Dakota State program and always look forward to playing quality teams in our non-conference schedule. This should be a very fun, early season game.' South Dakota State leads the all-time series 3-1. Their last meeting was on Dec. 17, 2023, an 83-58 victory by the No. 14 Bulldogs. In addition to this meeting with Gonzaga, the Jackrabbits have also announced plans to play at the Cancun Challenge over Thanksgiving.

Gonzaga forward Ben Gregg to work out for Boston Celtics

Gonzaga forward Ben Gregg to work out for Boston Celtics The Boston Celtics may not be playing in the postseason, but they are anything but idle with the 2025 NBA draft coming on June 25. The Celtics have been working out prospects for the two picks they have, No. 28 in the first round and No. 32 in the second, and among the players the Celtics will bring in is Gonzaga forward Ben Gregg, per Gregg himself. Speaking at a workout for the Portland Trail Blazers, the Gonzaga swingman shared that he will work out for the Celtics on Wednesday, and has gotten feedback from a few teams he has already met with. "My ability to stretch the floor as a big man, that's been a strength of mine throughout these workouts," he offered, noting NBA-level defense is an area where he needs to get better. "Guys at this level are so fast and athletic," said the Gonzaga alum. "So just being able to stay in front of quicker guys has been the main thing for me." A rough year from beyond the arc likely hurt his stock, with the former Bulldog hitting just 27.1% from 3 last season, compared to 37.7% the prior two campaigns. A 6-foot-10 forward who logged 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 35 games with Gonzaga last season, Gregg could be a sneaky good get for Boston as a developmental project for the future. He is not mocked in either round by most analysts, and could be a player Boston is watching as a player to sign if Gregg doesn't get picked up by the end of the second round, or if the Celtics trade back. The former Bulldog plays more in the midrange and cutting to the cup, but his past success from deep makes for an intriguing mix for his size.

Warriors hosting trio of players for pre-draft workout

Warriors hosting trio of players for pre-draft workout Warriors hosting a pre-draft workout Tuesday: — Sam Gordon (@BySamGordon) June 2, 2025 Draft month is officially here. In just a couple of weeks, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Steve Kerr are set to be on the clock for the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2025 edition of the NBA draft. Before Kerr and Dunleavy Jr. lock in their only pick in the 2025 draft, the Golden State Warriors are hosting a trio of prospects at San Francisco's Chase Center for a pre-draft workout. Duke's Sion James, Gonzaga's Ryan Nembhard and Appalachian State's CJ Huntley are the players set to work out in San Francisco on Tuesday, according to Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle. While earning a spot on the ACC All-Defensive team alongside top prospect Cooper Flagg at Duke, James averaged 8.6 points on 51.6% shooting from the field to go along with 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 39 games. After two seasons at Creighton, Nembhard transferred to Gonzaga for his final two seasons of college hoops, earning All-WCC honors in both campaigns. Nembhard led Mark Few's squad at point guard, averaging 10.5 points on 44.6% shooting from the field and 40.4% from beyond the arc. Nembhard added 9.8 assists and three rebounds per game. Nembhard notched 10 or more assists in 19 different games last season for Gonzaga, including a 16-assist performance against San Francisco at Chase Center. Nembhard's brother, Andrew, is getting ready to play in the NBA Finals with the Indiana Pacers. Gonzaga's Ryan Nembhard is a dream point guard for teammates to play alongside in a Combine setting with his tremendous feel, vision and unselfishness. The 6-foot-11 big man averaged a career-best 15.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season. Prior to hosting James, Nembhard and Huntley, the Warriors hosted another group of prospects earlier in draft season. UCLA's Kobe Johnson, St. John's RJ Luis and Mizzou's Tamar Bates were some of the players to visit Chase Center for a pre-draft workout. The Warriors have the next three weeks to prepare for the start of the NBA draft on June 25 in Brooklyn, New York at Barclays Center.
