Binghamton-inspired film making international debut
(WIVT/WBGH) – An independent film inspired by Binghamton is making its debut on an international stage.
'Stationed at Home' is making its world premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival in March.
The unpredictable and comical film follows a taxi driver working the graveyard shift on Christmas Eve in 1998. Along the way, he meets a diverse group of strangers who, like him, are trying to catch a glimpse of the International Space Station flying across the night sky.
The film was shot entirely in Binghamton. It was written, directed, produced, and edited by Boston native Daniel Masciari.
Masciari first visited Binghamton while traveling from New York City to Ithaca. He says the energy of the city is magical.
Local film 'Stationed at Home' almost complete
'It feels in some ways like you're in another realm. To me as a filmmaker that's really exciting because you really want to give the audience a blanket, a place they feel cozy in, and so for me, Binghamton was always the place,' said Masciari.
Stationed at Home will premiere on March 7. It will then make its film festival circuit before finding a home on streaming platforms.
Masciari says he plans to eventually hold a series of small-scale screenings here in Binghamton.
