Weight reduced, power increased Aston Martin DBX S unleashed
Positioned above the 707, the DBX S tips the scales at 47 kg lighter and comes with a 14 kW uptake in power.

Having afforded the DBX its first mid-life overhaul almost exactly a year ago, Aston Martin has revised its first-ever SUV once again with the introduction of a new flagship variant above the 707.
Simply called the DBX S, the newcomer succeeds the latter that debuted three years ago as the replacement for the now discontinued 'base' DBX.
New outside
Claimed to be the lightest DBX ever made, the S builds on the DBX 707's exterior changes, but adds a polycarbonate grille from the DBS 770 Ultimate, a carbon fibre front splitter, carbon door sills and mirror caps, a carbon rear diffuser, red S badges, restyled front and rear bumpers, and a carbon bootlid spoiler.

Offered in three colours, Trophy Silver, Podium Green and Rosso Corsa Red, the DBX S' final unique visual touches consist of an optional carbon fibre roof, stacked quad exhaust outlets, removal of the roof rails and optional 23-inch magnesium alloy wheels claimed to reduce unsprung weight by 19 kg.
Combined with the roof being 18 kg lighter than on the DBX 707, the DBS S tips the scales at 47 kg less than its sibling at a reported 2 245 kg.
Underneath
It doesn't stop there as underneath, the electric power steering has been sharpened-up and the springs for the standard air suspension and electronically dampers further revised to avoid body roll.
Carried over from the 707 are the carbon ceramic brakes comprising 420 mm discs at the front and 390 mm at the rear.
Spot the changes inside
Inside, the updates are more minor and carry over the steering wheel, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and new 10.25-inch infotainment system from the facelift 707.

Unique to the S are the standard Alcantara or optional semi-aniline leather upholstery, red seatbelts with S embroidery work, red S embroidered front seat headrests and S branded illuminated treadplates.
Completing the interior is a choice of two sound systems: the standard 800-watt 14-speaker audio or the optional 23-speaker 3D Bowers & Wilkins that pumps-out 1 600-watts.
More power
Residing up front, the Mercedes-Benz sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 has been uprated from that in the DBX 707 to produce 14 kW more for a total of 534 kW.
Visual changes at the rear are easy to spot. Image: Aston Martin
Still developing 900 Nm, the S' added grunt has resulted in a faster 0-100 km/h sprint time compared to the 707 – 3.3 seconds – or any top speed gains as the claimed v-max still stands at 310 km/h.
As before, drive is routed to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
Approval awaited
Now available for ordering in Europe, with deliveries commencing in the final quarter of the year, pricing and local market availability of the DBX S remains to be announced.

Goodwood to spotlight F1 engineering icons at 2025 Festival of Speed
This year's Goodwood Festival of Speed will mark the 75th anniversary of the Formula One World Championship with a celebration of the sport's most influential technical minds. Adrian Newey, Gordon Murray and Ross Brawn — all major forces behind Formula One's evolution — will be central figures at the event taking place from July 10 to 13. The festival's F1 tribute is structured around six storytelling pillars — prologue, pioneers, innovators, underdogs, champions and teams — with each tracing a different chapter in the sport's development. The innovators section, curated in part by Newey, will focus on those who've pushed engineering boundaries and redefined race car design. Newey, now with Aston Martin after his tenure at Red Bull, has been a dominant figure in the sport for close to 40 years. His career includes more than 220 Grand Prix wins and 26 world titles with multiple teams. He'll bring two personal cars to Goodwood — a Lotus 49, the machine that sparked his interest in motorsport, and a Leyton House CG901, a car he designed for the 1990 season that introduced several technical innovations. Joining him is Prof Gordon Murray, the South African-born designer whose career began at Brabham in 1969. He quickly made his mark with designs such as the controversial BT46B 'Fan Car' and later joined McLaren during its late 1980s dominance with drivers such as Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Murray eventually moved into road car design, creating the McLaren F1 and later launching his own company, Gordon Murray Automotive. His firm is the featured marque at this year's festival, with a centrepiece display in front of Goodwood House and a collection of landmark vehicles spanning Murray's 60-year career. Also in the spotlight is Ross Brawn, who led some of the most successful technical operations in F1 history. He guided Michael Schumacher to seven world titles and famously spearheaded the Brawn GP fairytale run in 2009, when the newly formed team won the drivers' and constructors' championships in its only season. Brawn will showcase the 2009 BGP 001 at Goodwood — a car that set the cat among the pigeons. After selling his team to Mercedes, Brawn remained as team principal and laid the groundwork for the manufacturer's dominant era from 2014 to 2021. More recently he served as F1's MD of Motorsport, overseeing regulatory reforms and a push towards sustainability. The Festival of Speed's F1 celebration will also include more than 100 significant Grand Prix cars, with appearances by eight former world champions, including Alain Prost, Mario Andretti and Nigel Mansell.

Lego Technic unveils Aston Martin Valkyrie
Lego has unveiled its latest Technic set, which is a detailed recreation of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, courtesy of a partnership with the British marque. Comprising more than 700 pieces, the set meticulously replicates the Valkyrie's iconic aerodynamic shape. The physical model is part of a broader tie-in that includes integration into the mobile racing game Asphalt Legends Unite. Players will be able to race both the real-world Valkyrie and its Lego counterpart in-game, as part of a collaboration between Lego, Aston Martin, and developer Gameloft. The actual Valkyrie needs a little introduction. Co-developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing's Adrian Newey, it combines Formula One technology with road-going usability if that term can be loosely applied to a car producing 838kW and sprinting from 0–100km/h in just 2.5s. Its naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12, built by Cosworth, revs to over 11 000r/min and is assisted by an electric motor in the hybrid system. Related: Lego Unboxes 10 New F1-Inspired Speed Champions Kits In Lego form, the Valkyrie is scaled down but includes several working features. These include a V12 engine with moving pistons, a steering system controlled by a top-mounted lever, and functional gullwing-style doors. It also features the same Podium Green livery seen on the real car. Lego states the set is designed for advanced builders, with the complexity of the build reflecting the technical ambition of the original vehicle. The model is due to go on sale from July 1. As for the gaming crossover, it's not the first time Lego has collaborated with a racing title to extend its physical sets into virtual experiences. However, combining the high-performance Valkyrie with a Lego version may help reach a broader audience, particularly younger fans who may be more familiar with racing games than the hypercar segment. While collaborations like these may be seen as brand-building exercises, they also demonstrate the growing trend of blending physical and digital experiences in the automotive world. For those who cannot afford a multimillion-rand hypercar, a scaled-down version made by Lego offers a far more accessible way to engage with one of the most ambitious cars ever built.
