HBCU at the Epicenter of $4.7 Billion Aerospace Investment
JetZero's facility will produce the Z4, a revolutionary commercial aircraft with an all-wing design. The plane seats 250 passengers and offers up to 50% improved fuel efficiency compared to current models. The factory will be powered by artificial intelligence and digital systems to improve speed, lower costs, and ensure high-quality production.
The company's headquarters will move from Long Beach, California, to Greensboro once the site is operational. Groundbreaking is expected in the first half of 2026. JetZero plans to deliver its first commercial aircraft by the early 2030s.
But it's not just about building airplanes. This investment will reshape education, innovation, and workforce development, starting with North Carolina A&T.
N.C. A&T plays a vital role in this project. The university is the top producer of African American engineering graduates in the country. The Department of Mechanical Engineering even offers an aerospace option for undergraduates. This makes it a perfect partner in developing a skilled talent pipeline for JetZero.
Chancellor James R. Martin II emphasized the university's impact:
This fall, N.C. A&T will also launch the state's first Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence. The degree includes two tracks: Advanced AI Systems, offered by the College of Engineering, and Applied AI, offered through the College of Science and Technology.
JetZero will partner with local institutions, such as Guilford Technical Community College, and others in the region to create customized training programs. These efforts aim to prepare workers quickly and effectively for roles at the new facility.
Jobs at the plant are expected to pay an average salary of over $89,000 per year. That's a major boost for the local economy-and a powerful incentive for students, especially those coming from HBCUs and community colleges.
John Loyack, vice president of economic development for the North Carolina Community College System, said:
The state offers a potent mix of talent, business incentives, and infrastructure. With a labor force of 5.5 million, over 49,000 engineers, and more than 30,000 STEM degrees awarded each year, North Carolina has the workforce JetZero needs.
The state also has the lowest corporate tax rate in the country at just 2.25%, with a cost of living below the national average. Add in renewable energy leadership and bipartisan support for sustainability, and it's clear why JetZero made the move.
N.C. A&T's involvement shows how HBCUs are driving the future of innovation. The university has already helped attract global brands, including Boom Supersonic, Honda, Toyota, Corning, and Merck, to North Carolina.
Governor Josh Stein summed it up best:
The JetZero project proves that HBCUs are not only educating the next generation-they're shaping the industries of tomorrow, with N.C. A&T at the epicenter of this aerospace boom, the future looks bright for students, researchers, and the state as a whole.

T. Rowe Q2 Earnings Preview: Can Market Gains Finally Stop the Bleeding?
T. Rowe Price Group Inc. (NASDAQ:TROW) will report second-quarter earnings before the market opens on Friday, August 1. Analysts expect EPS of $2.15 on $1.728 billion in revenue, representing flat growth as market-driven AUM recovery offsets continued pressure on flows. The stock has lagged year-to-date, weighed down by tepid organic growth, cost control efforts, and ongoing concerns over the competitiveness of active strategies. Key metrics will include total AUM, organic net flows, and average fee rate trends. While the S&P 500 and other major benchmarks posted strong gains in Q2, investor sentiment remains cautious over whether T. Rowe can convert market beta into net inflows. T. Rowe reported net outflows of $8.6 billion in Q1 2025, marking its sixteenth consecutive quarter of redemptions, meaning even a modest inflow this quarter would represent a meaningful break in trend and could help shift sentiment. Expense discipline will also be in focus as management seeks to protect margins without compromising strategic investments, particularly in retirement solutions and model portfolios. With shares still more than 50% below their all-time high, bulls are watching for signs that heightened volatility, recent market strength, and renewed interest in active management can lift both earnings and sentiment. But without clearer evidence of flow stabilization or traction in new products, the upside may remain capped. This article first appeared on GuruFocus.

Déjà vu? T-Mobile may be changing your plan whether you want it to or not
Back in 2023, T-Mobile received a ton of flak for announcing it would soon forcibly switch some of its legacy customers to newer, more expensive plans. Within weeks, the company reversed its stance amid growing complaints, claiming the move had only been a test . Two years later, it seems the company is at it once again. Several T-Mobile customers have taken to Reddit to complain about a new email making the rounds. The message informs recipients of a plan change set to take effect on August 13. In short, affected customers will see their existing plan switched to Go5G Plus. At least this time it's clarified that the upgrade is 'at no extra cost.' I've contacted T-Mobile to learn more, but this appears to be more than just a rumor, as the company now has an official page on its website detailing the change. Diving into the various Reddit posts like the one from Formal_cut3811, here's what we know so far: The change is primarily targeting Magenta Max users, though several alleged T-Mobile employees claim that some T-Mobile One plans may also be affected. For example, a few customers with the One Plan and the ONE Plus promo have reported receiving the email. There's no official way to opt out of the change, though some users suggest T-Force support might be able to revert your account to a different plan after the switch. The alerts and emails indicate the upgrade will not change your monthly rate. T-Mobile says customers will keep all free lines, discounts, streaming perks, and any other benefits currently active. On paper, the upgrade doesn't sound so bad. For those with a plan like Magenta Max, you'll retain all the same perks while gaining better phone deals, more hotspot data, and a few other enhancements. The bigger concern is how this might affect customers with older versions of the Price Lock guarantee. It's very likely that existing Price Lock protections won't carry over—though that's just speculation for now.

J&J tests direct CAR-T marketing with first Carvykti ad
This story was originally published on BioPharma Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily BioPharma Dive newsletter. Available cell therapies for cancer aren't easy treatments to receive. Personalized to each patient, the drugs are complicated and time-consuming to manufacture, and must be delivered and administered on an exacting schedule. And because they come with serious risks, patients need to remain close to the hospital where they were treated for weeks of monitoring. All of these characteristics make Johnson & Johnson's choice to roll out direct-to-consumer advertising for Carvykti, a cell therapy it sells for the blood cancer multiple myeloma, somewhat unexpected. The ad, which will air on streaming services like YouTube, Paramount and Roku, is J&J's first for the drug and a rare instance of DTC marketing for this kind of cell therapy, known as CAR-T. According to June Lanoue, J&J's head of U.S. hematology, the company aims to raise awareness about cell therapy, particularly among patients who may not be receiving care from the kind of specialized academic centers where CAR-T is often given. Carvykti is currently approved in the U.S. to treat multiple myeloma in patients whose disease either relapsed or becomes resistant to treatment after an initial round of therapy. Another CAR-T therapy, called Abecma and sold by Bristol Myers Squibb, is also cleared for this use, but only after two or more prior lines of treatment. Among these 'relapsed, refractory' patients, about half are treated at community oncology centers, Lanoue said. 'The actual awareness level of these options is very low,' she added. 'In the community, if they're not able to get it, doctors are not talking about and therefore they don't have visibility to having a new option.' J&J's choice to advertise is a signal of confidence in its ability to manufacture enough Carvykti to meet any rise in demand. Early on in the drug's launch, production challenges forced the company to limit orders from treating centers. (Bristol Myers ran into similar issues.) 'We feel very confident around production,' said Lanoue. Treatment sites can 'order Carvykti without any constraint.' The launch of the ad is also well-timed, as it comes several weeks after the Food and Drug Administration took steps to improve access to CAR-T treatment broadly. The agency eased some side effect reporting requirements and lessened the time it mandates patients stay near their treating facility for monitoring. It also said patients could resume driving or operating machinery sooner after treatment than previously prescribed. 'We think it will give more opportunity to more patients who [live at] a little bit further distance to be able to receive Carvykti,' Lanoue said. J&J's 120-second ad introduces a composite patient, 'Marvin,' and describes the heavy burden of injections and pills typically used to control multiple myeloma. Carvykti, by contrast, is a one-time infusion that can deliver lasting benefits in some. Recent follow-up data from an early study of around 100 patients treated with Carvykti showed that, at five years, one-third had not yet experienced disease progression. A story published in June by The New York Times that highlighted these findings led to more patients requesting information about Carvykti, according to Lanoue. J&J did not share how much it's spending on this marketing campaign, but Lanoue said it is 'significantly less' than what a pharmaceutical company would typically spend on a regular TV advertisement. 'This is not a share of voice play; this is ultra targeted,' she added. Sales of Carvykti reached $439 million in the three months between April and June. The company expects peak annual sales to eventually eclipse $5 billion. Editor's note: After this story was published, J&J updated the list of streaming services where its ad will appear and removed Hulu for the time being.
