Why Donald Trump pardoned NBA YoungBoy? Baton Rouge rapper pens emotional note for president after 23-month jail sentence
Rapper NBA YoungBoy, a.k.a. Never Broke Again, original name Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, penned a heartfelt message to President Donald Trump after receiving a presidential pardon. The Baton Rouge artist becomes the latest rapper to receive a pardon from President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
The rapper was listed among the nine other individuals granted clemency, a group that includes former GOP Congressman Michael Grimm and real estate personalities Todd and Julie Chrisley.
In a long note, the 'Right Foot Creep' rapper thanked Trump, saying that 'this moment means a lot' to him. He wrote in the post, 'I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and allowing me to continue growing as a man, a father, and an artist. This moment means everything to me."

'I'm grateful. I'm focused. I'm Ready.
The 25-year-old artist went on to express his thanks to Czar Alice Johnson and his lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, in the post. He says, 'Big thanks to the Pardon Czar, Ms Alice Marie Johnson, for fighting for second chances for so many people, and to my lawyer, Brittany K."
He mentioned the name of Barnett for being his corner and for their hard work to make this possible. As well, he noted that now he is focused and he is ready.
Why was NBA YoungBoy pardoned?
NBA YoungBoy has a long history of legal troubles in the past, including the recent one that took place in April 2023 when he was arrested in connection with a large-scale prescription drug fraud scheme.
The case led to around 63 charges, including forgery, theft, and controlled substances. Following this, the artist was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison. On December 10, 2024, NBA YoungBoy entered a guilty plea to possessing weapons as a convicted felon, resulting in an arrest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

During the time of his arrest, YoungBoy was already under house arrest at his Utah residence while he was awaiting trial for a separate case. Finally, in November 2024, he reached a plea agreement, pleading guilty to 10 charges.
Also, he entered a no-contest plea to the rest. During his 23 months of imprisonment, it was reported that in January 2025, he would be released on July 27 of the same year. However, his release date was later moved to April 26, and on March 24, the NBA was officially released from FCI Talladega in Alabama.

Donald Trump's next targets for immigration crackdowns revealed—here's the list
US President Donald Trump's administration has now revealed a broad list of 'sanctuary jurisdictions" for states, cities, and counties it criticises for 'deliberately and shamefully' obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws, as per a report. A List to 'Expose and Hold Accountable' The Department of Homeland Security has reportedly published the list to 'expose lawless jurisdictions and hold them accountable' because they pushed back against federal immigration enforcement, according to DailyBeast report. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, 'These sanctuary city politicians are endangering Americans and our law enforcement in order to protect violent criminal illegal aliens,' quoted DailyBeast. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo ALSO READ: Donald Trump binges on burgers and fries, but first lady Melania's favorite food will surprise you! President Trump and I will always put the safety of the American people first. Sanctuary politicians are on notice: comply with federal law,' as quoted in the report. Live Events What Are Sanctuary Jurisdictions? The DailyBeast wrote in its report, "Sanctuary jurisdictions—such as entire states like California and major cities including New York City and Chicago—are typically Democrat-run areas that limit or deny cooperation with federal immigration authorities. This includes refusing to notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) before releasing undocumented migrants from custody." Donald Trump's Promise of Mass Deportations According to DailyBeast, those who are named on the list would get a formal notification from the Trump administration about their alleged noncompliance with federal laws, and DHS would also demand that these jurisdictions 'immediately review and revise their policies' to align with the US president's immigration agenda. This comes as Trump has promised to conduct what he has boasted will be the largest deportation of undocumented migrants in American history during his second term in the White House, as per the report. Democratic Governors Push Back While, a Democrat, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, said, 'It is important for local law enforcement to continue to fully cooperate with other state and federal agencies on criminal matters, including the execution of warrants. In fact, this is their duty,' adding, 'But to be clear, state and local law enforcement cannot be commandeered to enforce federal civil immigration laws and taken away from fighting crime,' quoted DailyBeast. FAQs What happens to places on the list? They'll receive formal warnings and be asked to change their laws to support Trump's immigration agenda. Which places are on the list? Major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and entire states such as California and Colorado have been named.
